We translate frozen CNN models into OpenCL kernels with the TVM compiler and then use Intel's OpenCL SDK to compile to an FPGA bitstream. We improve the performance of the generated base hardware with optimizations that increase parallelism, reduce memory access latency, and save on-chip resources. We automate these optimizations in TVM and evaluate them by generating accelerators for LeNet-5, MobileNetVl and ResNet-34 on an Intel Stratix 10SX. the optimizations improve the performance of the generated accelerators by up to 846 x over the base ones. the optimized accelerators are up to 4.57 x faster than TensorFlow on CPU, 3.83x faster than single-threaded TVM and are only 0.34x slower than TVM with 56 threads. Our optimized kernels also outperform ones generated by similar approaches that use high-level synthesis, but they underperform ones that utilize hand-optimized designs. thus, our approach is most useful in environments that benefit from increased performance and fast prototyping, realizing the benefits of FPGAs without hardware design expertise.

Over the years, much research involving mobile computational entities has been performed. From modeling actual microscopic (and smaller) robots, to modeling software processes on a network, many important problems have been studied in this context. Gathering is one such fundamental problem in this area. the problem of gathering k robots, initially arbitrarily placed on the nodes of an n-node graph, asks that these robots coordinate and communicate in a local manner, as opposed to global, to move around the graph, find each other, and settle down on a single node as fast as possible. A more difficult problem to solve is gathering with detection, where once the robots gather, they must subsequently realize that gathering has occurred and then terminate. In this paper, we propose a deterministic approach to solve gathering with detection for any arbitrary connected graph that is faster than existing deterministic solutions for even just gathering (without the requirement of detection) for arbitrary graphs. In contrast to earlier work on gathering, it leverages the fact that there are more robots present in the system to achieve gathering with detection faster than those previous papers that focused on just gathering. the state of the art solution for deterministic gathering [Ta-Shma and Zwick, TALG, 2014] takes O-similar to (n(5) log l) rounds, where l is the smallest label among robots and O-similar to hides a polylog factor. We design a deterministic algorithm for gathering with detection with the following trade-offs depending on how many robots are present: (i) when k = >= n/2 + 1, the algorithm takes O(n(3)) rounds, (ii) when k >= [n/3] + 1, the algorithm takes O(n(4) log n) rounds, and (iii) otherwise, the algorithm takes O-similar to (n(5)) rounds. the algorithm is not required to know k, but only n.

In off-grid mode, the voltage and current stability of microgrids are poor, which can lead to poor performance of distributed mobile energy storage system (DMESS) off-grid control. To address this issue, a method based on multi-machine parallel operation for off-grid control of DMESS is proposed. A model of multi-machine parallel operation for DMESS is designed, and the power allocation ratio of parallel machines is determined reasonably. through the dual-loop control technology of outer loop capacitor voltage and inner loop capacitor current, the dynamic performance and load disturbance resistance of the energy storage system are improved, realizing stable control of voltage and current during microgrid off-grid operation. Experimental results demonstrate that when a 45 kW, 10 kVar load is injected into the microgrid, the designed technology can restore voltage and maintain voltage stability at 0.7 s after the load injection. When the second energy storage system is injected, stable current can be maintained, achieving current equalization. this indicates that the proposed method can effectively control the stability of microgrid voltage and current under off-grid operation and achieve current equalization, demonstrating excellent control performance. © 2024 ieee.

Genomic data leaks are irreversible. Leaked DNA cannot be changed, stays disclosed indefinitely, and affects the owner's family members as well. the recent large-scale genomic data collections [1], [2] render the traditional privacy protection mechanisms, like the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), inadequate for protection against the novel security attacks [3]. On the other hand, data access restrictions hinder important clinical research that requires large datasets to operate [4]. these concerns can be naturally addressed by the employment of privacy-enhancing technologies, such as a secure multiparty computation (MPC) [5]–[10]. Secure MPC enables computation on data without disclosing the data itself by dividing the data and computation between multiple computing parties in a distributed manner to prevent individual computing parties from accessing raw data. MPC systems are being increasingly adopted in fields that operate on sensitive datasets [11]–[13], such as computational genomics and biomedical research [14]–[22].

Underground Pumped Hydro-Energy Storage stations are sustainable options to enhance storage capacity and thus the flexibility of energy systems. Efficient management of such units requires high-performance optimization algorithms able to find solutions in a very restricted timing to comply with the responsive energy markets. In this context, parallel computing offers a valuable solution to ensure appropriate decisions that maximize the profit of the station operator, while guaranteeing the safety of the energy network. this study investigates the use of three existing algorithms in parallel Bayesian Optimization, namely q-EGO, BSP-EGO and TuRBO. the three algorithms have different inherent behaviors in terms of parallel potential and, even though TuRBO scales better, q-EGO remains the best choice regarding the final outcomes for all investigated batch sizes and manages to get up to 5 times more profits than other approaches.

In this article we present PARSIR (parallel SImulation Runner), a package that enables the effective exploitation of shared-memory multi-processor machines for running discrete event simulation models. PARSIR is a compile/run-time environment for discrete event simulation models developed with the C programming language. the architecture of PARSIR has been designed in order to keep low the amount of CPU-cycles required for running models. this is achieved via the combination of a set of techniques like: 1) causally consistent batch-processing of simulation events at an individual simulation object for caching effectiveness;2) high likelihood of disjoint access parallelism;3) the favoring of memory accesses on local NUMA (Non-Uniform-Memory-Access) nodes in the architecture, while still enabling well balanced workload distribution via work-stealing from remote nodes;4) the use of RMW (Read-Modify-Write) machine instructions for fast access to simulation engine data required by the worker threads for managing the concurrent simulation objects and distributing the workload. Furthermore, any architectural solution embedded in the PARSIR engine is fully transparent to the application level code implementing the simulation model. We also provide experimental results showing the effectiveness of PARSIR when running the reference PHOLD benchmark on a NUMA shared-memory multi-processor machine equipped with 40 CPUs. © 2024 ieee.

With the emergence of the Metaverse concept, the rendering and transmission of 3D virtual scenes demand high-bandwidth, high-quality real-time rendering technology, as well as ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC). However, the current 5G network technology faces unprecedented challenges. the 3D Gaussian Splatting technique renders realistic scenes from sparse input views, providing a novel solution to these challenges. this paper proposes a cloud-edge-end collaborative caching optimization scheme based on deep reinforcement learning and asynchronous federated learning (termed Gaussian Splatting Actor-Critic, GSAC) for 3D Gaussian Splatting rendering near terminals. this scheme leverages asynchronous federated learning technology to predict user behavior trajectories in real time while ensuring user data privacy. It integrates the ActorCritic strategy of deep reinforcement learning and graph convolutional network (GCN) technology to dynamically adjust caching strategies, thereby improving cache hit rates and reducing cache switching frequency. Simulation experiments demonstrate that compared to existing technologies, the GSAC scheme significantly outperforms in terms of target sub-scenario cache hit rates and cache switching frequency. © 2024 ieee.

With the rapid growth of cloud computing, outsourcing databases to cloud servers is becoming increasingly popular. Query integrity authentication is an effective technique to obtain reliable query results from untrusted clouds. ServeDB (Wu et al., ICDE 2019) is a state-of-the-art system that provides integrity authentication for encrypted range queries. However, ServeDB is a serial system. the high construction cost of its authentication data structure SVETree is the main performance bottleneck that limits its scalability to large datasets. In this study, we overcome the scalability limitation by parallelizing the SVETree construction workflow using the MapReduce framework. We propose the link-free storage layout to store the tree-based SVETree structure in a distributed key-value storage. the parallel SVETree construction algorithm reduces the communication latency of the key-value storage with the batch put/get optimization. the algorithm balances the workload of different tree nodes with the record-centric parallelization optimization. Furthermore, it avoids triggering out-of-core shuffles with the multi-round in-memory shuffle technique. the experimental results show that the parallel algorithm running on 128 cores achieves a 52.7 × speedup over the original serial algorithm. the parallel algorithm exhibits near-linear data and machine scalability. © 2023 ieee.

Microgrid technology based on photovoltaic distributed power generation is becoming more and more mature. With the rapid development of clean energy in China, its application will be more extensive. the control of parallel operation of inverters is very important to the stable operation of microgrid and the circulation control is the key to ensure the reliable operation of parallel operation of inverters. the working principle of three-phase photovoltaic inverter was analyzed in this paper. A master-slave control mode was proposed to control circulation of the parallel inverter system. the voltage and current double closed-loop control parameters was analyzed. the microgrid system was simulated by PSIM software. the simulation results show that the system circulation decreases from the maximum value of 0.16A to 1.4×10-8A after the control strategy is added. the voltage and current of three-phase output basically reach the requirement of balance. the control effect of the system circulation is obvious, and the simulation results meet the design requirements. © 2023 ieee.
