None-invasive scanning technologies, such as MRI, have greatly enhanced our ability to 'image' the internal body, however the resultant visualisation is often difficult to comprehend due to both inadequacies in the scanning process and sub-optimal approaches to visualisation and data representation. these factors impose significant cognitive load on the user, requiring skill and experience to accurately comprehend the detail of the data, and intense concentration, in less experienced users, to understand the structures present. this research aims to improve the users' ability to comprehend and explore the scanned data sets, through a combination of enhanced data processing and effective 3D visualisation that will seek refined representational paradigms to intuitively convey meaning to the user. this is achieved in a real-time 3D exploration environment, utilising recent developments in graphics hadware, which enables the user to both refine the visual representation and effectively explore the data set, thereby defining a prototype for enhanced medical visualisation and exploration. Ultimately this will improve diagnosis, procedural planning and most importantly communication, both between medical clinicians and the patient themselves.

Designing high-performance universal radar processing system is the method of solving the problem of increasing task needs of new radar system and that of different arithmetic requiring different system structure. Based on the theoretical analysis on the shared bus type and distributed type parallel structure, and according the characteristic of the radar signal processing, one high-performance universal radar signal processing system was designed and realized. the system has the characteristics of standardization, modularization, scalability, restructure, hybrid parallelprocessing, and multi-layer interconnection. And through using the system to design and realize typical radar signal processing system, the high-performance and the universality of the system were proved.

Federate migration is a fundamental mechanism for large-scale distributed simulations. It provides the means for simulation load-balancing and thus improves the simulations overall performance. Given its importance for simulations, several federate migration approaches have been proposed in the literature. Some approaches freeze the entire simulation, others use third-party mechanisms to transport data, and others make use of unnecessary communication and computing. thus, in order to minimize the time spent on federate migration, we introduce a simulation agent that manages the migration steps, as well as the migrating federate's communication withthe other simulation entities. the use of the agent simplifies the message management transparently and avoids redundant usage of network and computing resources. We demonstrate through simulation experiments that our approach decreases federate migration latency, improving the performance of HLA simulations that run over large-scale environments.

We propose a flexible and scalable message-oriented mechanism allowing interoperability between different DEVS implementations towards DEVS standardization. the main objective of the proposed protocol is to enable different DEVS implementations to interface and coordinate among each other to simulate the same model structure across their diverse domains. To do so, the proposed simulation protocol uses SOAP-based Web-Services technology as the communi. cation framework to exchange control and simulation messages. the objective is achievable with minimum design changes to each DEVS implementation. mainly by hiding the detailed implementation behind a wrapper and focusing only on the exchanged messages.

Distribution of data and erasure tolerant-codes allow to store data reliably in distributed systems. Whereby most techniques are directed to failures of storage resources, also erroneously accessing clients and network interruptions may disturb the storage system operation and cause data loss. Particularly, updates that get partially effective onto distributed data may leave data in an inconsistent state and indirectly destroy data content. Besides, redundancy and data can be left in a state that does not allow to tolerate failures anymore. In this paper we propose a protocol that takes these issues into account. the protocol forces update consistency in partial distribution scenarios and is correlated withthe distribution and coding scheme. It is based on a two-phase commit protocol and a two-layered data structure for buffering updates. For block-wise and sequential access, the protocol cost is hidden in the sequence of accesses related to consecutive blocks.

this paper presents analysis of the influence of virtualization mechanism of pSeries servers on dynamic resources allocation on AIX 5L. this paper raises in issues of economic use of resources and distribution of processing power of pSeries server. Some innovative solutions are proposed as methods of dynamic resources allocation. these are: micro-partitioning and partition load manager utility. Some results of experiments are presented, whose goal was to estimate the influence of selected adjustment of AIX 5L on its efficiency.

this paper proposes an allocation scheme of nodes to distributed applications that minimizes the total execution time. the scheme is based on profiling. An algorithm that models the system as a min-max optimization problem is developed. the algorithm transfers nodes from faster processes to slower process by inspection of the profiled data and arrives at a solution better than existing algorithm.

As an emergence technology, P2P is spreading to distributed simulation area, and many distributed simulation frameworks have used P2P as the middleware to interconnect their existing single processor's simulators to fibrin distributed environments for simulation execution. In terms of simulation time management, most existing tools use a middleware layer to implement and support time management in a heterogeneous networking environment. and therefore, it is generally not easy, v to migrate a single processors simulation to multi-processors in these frameworks. In this paper, we present a P2P based distributed simulation time management based upon JXTA API and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), and we focus our discussion on how we implement the time management as a JXTA peer and a JXTA group service. Our time management is actually, a native distributed message passing management framework, and does not rely on any middleware layer. Furthermore, we evaluate the performance of our implementations using a local Linux cluster. this work will establish a solid foundation for the more advanced distributed simulation services that have been proposed in our project [1].

parallelization of operations is of utmost importance for efficient implementation of Public Key Cryptography algorithms. Starting with a classification of parallelization methods at different abstraction levels of public key algorithms, we propose a novel memory architecture for elliptic curve implementations with multiple modular multiplier units. this architecture is well-suited for different point addition and doubling algorithms over GF(p) to be implemented on FPGAs. It allows the execution time to scale withthe number of modular multipliers and exhibits nearly no overhead compared to the mere runtime of the multipliers. the advantages of this distributed memory architecture are demonstrated by means of two different point addition and doubling algorithms.
