We propose a way to combine formal grammars and artificial neural networks for biological sequences processing. Formal grammars encode the secondary structure of the sequence and neural networks deal with mutations and noise. In contrast to the classical way, when probabilistic grammars are used for secondary structure modeling, we propose to use arbitrary (not probabilistic) grammars which simplifies grammar creation. Instead of modeling the structure of the whole sequence, we create a grammar which only describes features of the secondary structure. then we use undirected matrix-based parsing to extract features: the fact that some substring can be derived from some nonterminal is a feature. After that, we use a dense neural network to process features. In this paper, we describe in details all the parts of our receipt: a grammar, parsing algorithm, and network architecture. We discuss possible improvements and future work. Finally, we provide the results of tRNA and 16s rRNA processing which shows the applicability of our idea to real problems.

An articulation between the real/physical and the virtual world, i.e. an integrated service logic, is necessary for advisory service provision in the AAL field in order to best suit the consumers' needs. However, personalised feedback is generally missing on digital advisory platforms that promote assistive technologies and services. this manuscript builds on previous research carried out in the scope of the EU-funded ActiveAdvice project, that is based on the premise that, in the AAL field, an engagement platform must promote not only AAL products and services but also empower stakeholders and facilitate the co-creation of value. therefore, the concept of an Authorised Active Advisor was created. this paper presents and discusses the results from a qualitative study carried out to refine the concept of Authorised Active Advisors, by identifying, their added value and role within an integrated AAL advisory system, as well as their profile, required knowledge and skills.
A proof problem is a "yes/no" problem concerning with checking whether one logical formula is a logical consequence of another logical formula, while a query-answering problem (QA problem) is an "all-an...

thanks to their small size, high dexterity and compliance, concentric tube continuum robots (CTCRs) are well suited for tasks in constrained and tortuous environments such as minimally invasive surgery. Many real-world tasks often require collaboration of multiple manipulators necessitating dual-arm (DA) robotic systems. Leveraging the benefits of CTCRs in a dual-arm configuration, i.e. DA-CTCR, has great potential for applications in such areas. A hierarchybased control framework is proposed to efficiently control and coordinate motions in a semi-autonomous manner for DA-CTCRs. this framework is validated in various assistive/motion coordination control schemes in simulation and on a real-robot prototype. Our results demonstrate that a DA-CTCR can effectively be controlled when considering the autonomous execution of multiple functionally meaningful tasks aggregated in a prioritized hierarchy. the performance of the task prioritization was clear on the real robot where, for a relative positioning task prioritized over that of a single arm, respective mean errors of 0.38mm and 0.7mm were observed.

this article presents an analysis of participation patterns in an Alternate Reality Game, World Without Oil. this game aims to bring people together in an online environment to reflect on how an oil crisis might affect their lives and communities as a way to both counter such a crisis and to build collective intelligence about responding to it. We present a series of participation profiles based on a quantitative analysis of 1554 contributions to the game narrative made by 322 players. We further qualitatively analyze a sample of these contributions. We outline the dominant themes, the majority of which engage the global oil crisis for its effects on commute options and present micro-sustainability solutions in response. We further draw on the quantitative and qualitative analysis of this space to discuss how the design of the game, specifically its framing of the problem, feedback mechanism, and absence of subject-matter expertise, counter its aim of generating collective intelligence, making it conducive to groupthink.

An international Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Technical Document (TECDOC) has been developed and will be published by the IAEA. the TECDOC addresses the interfaces between the transport and geologic disposal systems for high-level waste (HLW) and spent nuclear fuel (SNF). the document is intended to define and assist in discussing, at boththe domestic and the international level, regulatory, technical, administrative, and institutional interfaces associated with HLW and SNF transport and disposal systems;it identifies and discusses the interfaces and interface requirements between the HLW and SNF, the waste transport system used for carriage of the waste to the disposal facility, and the HLW/SNF disposal facility. It provides definitions and explanations of terms;discusses systems, interfaces and interface requirements;addresses alternative strategies (single-purpose packages and multi-purpose packages) and how interfaces are affected by the strategies;and provides a tabular summary of the requirements.
