this paper addresses the problem of introducing learning capabilities in industrial handcrafted automata-based Spoken Dialogue systems, in order to help the developer to cope with his dialogue strategies design tasks. While classical reinforcement learning algorithms position their learning at the dialogue move level, the fundamental idea behind our approach is to learn at a finer internal decision level (which question, which words, which prosody,...). these internal decisions are made on the basis of different (distinct or overlapping) knowledge. this paper proposes a novel reinforcement learning algorithm that can be used to make a data-driven optimisation of such handcrafted systems. An experiment shows that the convergence can be up to 20 times faster than with Q-Learning.

Firstly, temporal planning capability for the agents. Secondly, the agents should be able to work in a stable manner in the changing environment. thirdly, a balance should exist between reactivity and proactivity. Fourthly, the agents' actions should not conflict withthe actions of other agents in the same environment and the agents should avail the cooperative oppurtunities offered by other agents and they themselves should be able to help other agents where possible. In a job shop, each product may have a different processing route through the system. Automated Flexible Manufacturing Cells (FMC) that adopt this flow pattern are highly prone to deadlocks. A supervisor is a controller that uses available data via feedback loops to characterize the current behavior of the cell, and modify the equipment controllers to achieve the desired operational specifications in a deadlock-free manner. this paper proposes a hierarchical control system divided into an upper level scheduler and a lower level supervisor to control FMCs. the scheduler is responsible for determining a deadlock-free allocation of the resources that optimizes some performance measure, based on the current production requirements, and the supervisor guarantees that the flow plan (behavior) determined by the scheduler is realized on the shop floor. For that purpose, a formal method that can transform a production schedule into a supervisor, in real time, is also proposed. the supervisor is an augmented Marked Graph (MG) that captures all the events that can take place in the cell. the proposed approach is validated by generating and simulating the supervisors for two benchmark problems.

We present a query processing procedure for conjunctive queries in distributed ontology systems where a large ontology is divided into ontology fragments that are later distributed over a set of autonomous nodes. We focus on ontologies with large ABoxes. the query processing procedure determines and retrieves the facts that are relevant to answering a given query from other nodes, then construct a new fragment that includes the set of relevant facts, the local TBox and RBox. the given query is evaluated against the new fragment and answers are returned to the user. We prove that our technique returns sound answers for queries over OWL ontologies.

Millimeter-wave (mmWave) communication technologies can achieve up to several gigabit/sec data rate over a small range, using directional antenna. To enable high data rate wireless connectivity in a large area, a multi-hop routing protocol is needed. the rate-adaptiveness of mmWave link and the use of directional antenna brings both challenges and opportunities for routing protocol design. In this paper, we propose an Optimal Geographic Routing Protocol (OGRP) and an accompanying distributed directional medium access control (MAC) protocol. We further study how to optimize the selection of relays to maximize the flow throughput and minimize the network resources used by a flow, considering the MAC overheads. By balancing the number of hops and the per hop throughput, the proposed OGRP outperforms the existing greedy geographic routing and opportunistic routing protocols.
