Support for real-time multimedia applications is becoming an essential requirement for future high-speed networks. Many of these real-time applications will require guaranteed quality of service (QoS) such as a bound on the maximum message delay and/or on the maximum message loss rate. this poses an exciting challenge to the high speed transport protocol design and implementations. In this paper, we study the resource and admission control algorithms for real-time transport connections, and give a necessary and sufficient condition for the schedulabiltiy of n real-time transport connections at a destination host under deadline scheduling policy for deterministic guarantees of QoS. We propose the deadline scheduling with interrupt points policy, under which we give a necessary and sufficient condition of the schedulability of n real-time transport connections for statistical guarantees of QoS. these necessary and sufficient conditions form the mathematical basis for the QoS guarantees in transport communication services. Based on the necessary and sufficient conditions, we give the connection admission control algorithms for deterministic guarantees and statistical guarantees of QoS respectively. We also calculate the buffer space needed for each real-time transport connection. Our results could be applied to other fields as well, such as real-time operating systems.

On-chip interconnection network has been used to connect a large number of modules in reconfigurable systems, such as FPGAs. the network topology is a crucial factor that affects the performance, cost, and power consumption of the system, and various network topologies have been proposed so far. To reveal cost- and powerefficient on-chip network structure in the reconfigurable systems, in this paper, we first estimate the performance of 2D-mesh, 2D-torus, Fat-Trees, Spidergon, Concentrated mesh, and Flattened Butterfly by using a network simulator. then, these topologies are synthesized, placed, and routed by using the Xilinx ISE in order to show the number of slices required and power consumption for each topology. Based on the evaluation results, the performanceper- cost and the performance-per-power of these network topologies are compared. We discuss the pros and cons of the high-radix topologies, such as Concentrated mesh and Flattened Butterfly, when they are used in FPGAs. We also show that the high radix topologies are suitable to FPGAs, because of their relatively small area overhead and short hop count.

Social networks play important roles in the Semantic Web: knowledge management, information retrieval, ubiquitous computing, and so on. We propose a social network extraction system called POLYPHONET, which employs several advanced techniques to extract relations of persons, detect groups of persons, and obtain keywords for a person. Search engines, especially Google, are used to measure co-occurrence of information and obtain Web *** studies have used search engines to extract social networks from the Web, but our research advances the following points: First, we reduce the related methods into simple pseudocodes using Google so that we can build up integrated systems. Second, we develop several new algorithms for social networking mining such as those to classify relations into categories, to make extraction scalable, and to obtain and utilize person-to-word relations. third, every module is implemented in POLYPHONET, which has been used at four academic conferences, each with more than 500 participants. We overview that system. Finally, a novel architecture called Super Social Network Mining is proposed;it utilizes simple modules using Google and is characterized by scalability and Relate-Identify processes: Identification of each entity and extraction of relations are repeated to obtain a more precise social network.

Software-Defined Networks' technologies introduce programmatic ways to reorganize the network logical topology. To achieve this, the switches in the network interact with a set of controllers, these controllers can dynamically update the switches configuration based in received events. A possible practical field of use of Software-Defined Networks' is the one called Reactive Routing. On Reactive Routing the logical topology is continuously evolving based on traffic statistics as load or jitter which can be collected by the switches. BitTorrent is a well-known peer-to-peer protocol used on application layer to achieve fast propagation of content. In an effort to find the best set of connections that maximizes the global aggregation of throughput without knowledge from underlying topology, BitTorrent uses choking algorithmsthat continuously open and close connections to different peers. Software Defined Networks implementing Reactive Routing may be negatively affecting the performances of the system under specific conditions because of it lack of knowledge of BitTorrent strategies. Here, we review the concepts involved in Software-Defined Networks and BitTorrent protocol, we propose a classification of scenarios where these technologies may interact, we discuss hypotheses about possible problems arising from these interaction and we show our preliminary experimental results from study the phenomena.
