We propose a new algorithm for independent component and independent subspace analysis problems. this algorithm uses a contrast based on the Schweizer-Wolff measure of pairwise dependence (Schweizer & Wolff, 1981), a non-parametric measure computed on pairwise ranks of the variables. Our algorithm frequently outperforms state of the art ICA methods in the normal setting, is significantly more robust to outliers in the mixed signals, and performs well even in the presence of noise. Our method can also be used to solve independent subspace analysis (ISA) problems by grouping signals recovered by ICA methods. We provide an extensive empirical evaluation using simulated, sound, and image data.

In computing, multi dielectric medium, such as the SF6 insulation gas, porcelain casing and air has been into consideration. the equal potential and electric field strength distribution of different profiles are obtained and figured out. And the comparison of the numerical computation results between 3D and 2D model has been performed. Moreover, the insulation performance under different operating conditions has been obtained and analyzed. the theoretical basis for designing and optimizing the HV SF6 CT has been provided.

Industry is undergoing a digital transition that will change the design and setup of human-machine systems. One part of this change is increasing possibilities of workers to influence their work. In this paper, we present four components of the Factory2Fit project that contribute to this change by engaging workers: (1) knowledge sharing and collaboration via a discussion platform;(2) visualisation of information via augmented reality (AR) glasses;(3) participatory design of workplaces and tasks by means of a 3D simulation software programme, and (4) an on-site training tool utilising a training platform. the demonstrators were evaluated with workers to identify foreseen benefits, challenges and impact on their work. Most of the concepts seem to be well accepted and they have high potential to improve work well-being and work performance. the results of this study are encouraging, but long-term field studies with actual prototypes will be needed to evolve the concepts.

the advancement of 5G technology and extensive usage of smart devices have led to a deluge of data. It is invaluable to analyze such big data by issuing queries to derive real-time business insights for better, smarter and fact-based decisions. Timely big data analytics are crucial in many service domains, thus the age of data (AoD) required by queries is emerging as a novel metric that measures the freshness of data and evaluates the quality of data analytics. Traditional big data analytics that are performed in remote clouds cannot satisfy the AoD requirements of queries, due to the congested core networks and long transmission latency between users and clouds. the technique of mobile edge computing (MEC) is expected to reduce the age and guarantee the timeliness of queries for big data analytics, by processing data at edge cloudlets close to users. In this paper, we investigate a problem of age-aware query evaluation for big data analytics in a mobile edge cloud network. We first formulate the problem with certain data processing latency as an Integer Linear Program (ILP). We then develop an online learning algorithm for the problem with uncertain data processing latency. We finally evaluate the performance of proposed algorithms against existing studies by simulations and testbed implementations. Evaluation results show that the proposed algorithms outperform existing works by achieving 20% lower AoD.

Designers oversize HVAC systems for various reasons, and some reasons are more justifiable than others. In oversizing the system, the designers are essentially asking the building owner to incur the financial penalties of oversizing throughout the life of the HVAC system in favor of the theoretical benefit of perfect occupant comfort during the combination of all possible extreme conditions. the initial and ongoing financial penalties associated with oversizing are often not communicated to the client and neither are the potential comfort trade-offs of rightsizing. this paper presents the results of a study on the "rightsizing" of the rooftop HVAC systems. the study involves a survey and intensive interviews with HVAC designers regarding the design process to identify the factors that can lead to oversizing. the study also carried out extensive measurements on the performance of rooftop units (RTUs) under the peak cooling day design condition. the measurements were used to identify the signature of oversizing, and estimated penalty of oversizing in terms of energy consumption and peak electricity demand. this paper focuses on the results of the simulation exercise carried out as part of the study. the goal of the simulation work for the study was to extend the measured penalty estimate across the whole cooling season.
