Epoxy resin (EP) with excellent insulation and mechanical properties is widely used as insulation material in power systems. thermo-oxidative ageing of EP caused by high temperature can lead to serious accidents in systems. therefore, it is necessary to study the thermo-oxidative ageing of EP. Decabromodiphenylethane (DBDPE) is a common flame retardant in EP. However, the effect of DBDPE on the thermo-oxidative ageing of EP is rarely studied. In this paper, neat EP and EP/DBDPE samples were prepared. the samples were aged for 32 days at 160 ?. the color, chemical structure and dielectric properties of the two kinds of samples during thermo-oxidative ageing were investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR) and broadband dielectric spectroscopy (BDS). the results show that the effect of thermo-oxidative ageing on neat epoxy resin is relatively uniform, while the thermal oxygen aging of EP/DBDPE sample mainly occurs on the surface, which prevents the diffusion of oxygen and delays the internal aging of epoxy resin. With the increase of ageing time, the C-H bond of EP decreases while \mathrm{C}=\mathrm{C} bonds increase. the \mathrm{C}=\mathrm{O} bond of neat EP rises first and then decreases, while that of EP/DBDPE keeps rising. the real part of the complex permittivity of the EP decreases with the ageing time, and the imaginary part increases first and then decreases. the change of functional groups and dielectric properties of EP/DBDPE is more obvious before and after ageing. According to the results, the conclusion is drawn that DBDPE in EP can accelerate the thermos-oxidative ageing. this paper can provide theoretical guidance for engineering application of DBDPE filled EP. © 2020 IEEE.

Arcing horn, which is a kind of rod-rod air gap, is usually parallel-installed on the insulator in the over-headlines in order to protect the insulator from being burnt by the fault arc. However, if the fault arc cannot be interrupted by the arcing horn in time, it will cause the operation of DC transmission systems unstable. So, it is necessary to do some researches on the characteristics of arc motion. Here, a magneto hydro dynamic (MHD) model was built to simulate the arc moving behaviors, as well as the mathematical model for dynamic DC arc in the arcing horn was analyzed. three kinds of airflows, such as the cross-wind, the non-wind and the wind in 45° direction, were simulated to demonstrate the effects of airflows on the arc moving behaviors. the arc temperature, voltage, current and resistance were presented according to the MHD simulation model. Finally, some experiments were made to compare with the simulation results. Experimental results verify that the MHD simulation model is correct. the arc temperature is as high as 9000 K and it is not significantly different during the various evolution processes. the direction of airflow has much influence on the arc moving behaviors under three different conditions. the arc voltage and resistance are gradually increased while the arc current is decreased after 250 ms. this paper is useful for the researches of DC arc movement in the arcing horns. © 2020 IEEE.

international Large-Scale Assessments (ILSA) have a critical role in shaping education systems around the world. they impact local and national education policy and receive much attention in the media and the public discourse. However, the public has limited access to the results and cannot learn from them. Subsequently, the media might frame the results incorrectly. the transparency of ILSA is essential to the advancement of the public discourse. It requires easy access to data together with simple analysis tools. However, the complexity of ILSA makes it hard to understand and to analyze. Open PISA tries to deal with this challenge by developing a dashboard for the Program for international Student Assessment (PISA). It aims to guide users in the analysis of the dataset. this paper describes the dashboard design and insight based on collected users' responses. It hypothesizes that full transparency of the PISA dataset might be not achievable to the entire public. Further research is needed to evaluate how dataset analysis affects users' knowledge and opinions.

As a new type of overhead wires, carbon fiber composite conductors have a wide potential application prospect in the capacity expansion project. When the conductors run at a relatively high temperature for a long time, the influence of temperature on carbon fiber composite mandrel which are wrapped inside the aluminum conductor cannot be neglected. therefore, it is of great significance to study the thermal decomposition process of the composite cores. the pyrolysis process of the carbon fiber composite cores was analyzed by thermogravimetric analysis experiments at various heating rates, and the activation energy of the carbon fiber composite cores was calculated using two classic models based on thermal analysis kinetics. the results showed that the activation energy values calculated by the Flynn-Wall-Ozawa method and the Kissinger method were basically the same. It was found that the activation energy values at different conversion rates were stable in the early stage of the reaction and increased slightly in the later stage. To account for this phenomenon, the explanation was also given. the study of the activation energy of the composite core in this paper lay a certain foundation for revealing the aging mechanism and life evaluation of the carbon fiber composite cores. © 2020 IEEE.

Electric joint compound is a type of organic composites which has been widely used between terminal connectors. the main function of electric joint compound is reducing the contact resistance of the terminal connectors and slowing down the corrosion of metal. Recently, we found that the aging of electric joint compound has a great influence on the contact resistance of terminal connectors. With the process of aging, contact resistance of the connectors became higher and higher, which lead to abnormal fever problems. In order to prevent abnormal fever problems, it is necessary to analyze the aging process. However, the aging mechanism of electric joint compound is unclear. In this paper, artificial accelerated aging tests were put on the electric joint compound to simulating its aging mode. thermal Oxidative aging experiments are used to simulate the degradation process of the electric joint compound in nature. We also compared the difference between natural and accelerating aging samples. Macro analysis tests including cone penetration, dropping point and storage stability were measured. Micro structural analysis tests including FTIR, XPS, SEM were used to proclaim the changes of the electric joint compounds. © 2020 IEEE.

Transmission lines are susceptible to the wind and it may cause conductor swing during their operation. UHV compact transmission lines are easily affected by conductor swing which could lead to interphase flashover due to their small inter-phase clearance. According to the current research, it is widely believed that the wind load on the transmission lines contains significant pulsating effects. therefore, it is necessary to study the motion characteristics of the transmission lines under the action of pulsating wind. To analyze the dynamic behavior of the transmission lines, a three degrees of freedom (3DOF) nonlinear mechanical software was developed in this paper. the simulated results showed that compared with the steady wind, the minimum inter-phase clearance that can occur under pulsating wind was smaller, and the maximum unbalanced tension were greater. It was found that the minimum inter-phase clearance of the iced conductor decreased with the increase of the span length. In addition, it was also found that the reasonable installation of interphase spacers could play a positive role in suppressing the conductor swing of the iced conductor under the action of pulsating wind. © 2020 IEEE.
