Phonetics is a crucial branch of linguistics that studies human speech sounds and is essential for language learning, speech therapy, and speech technology development. However, current Arabic speech systems cannot instantly analyze and detect mispronunciation of Arabic phonemes, only offering a recording feature for self-evaluation. So, this paper presents a state-of-the-art approach using a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model for detecting and discriminating between Arabic phonemes. the model was tested on a collected dataset for the Arabic phonemes /s/ 'sin' and /s/ 'ad and demonstrated excellent performance in discriminating between them despite their close articulation. the model achieved an accuracy of 97.33% and outperformed other techniques proposed for small datasets. the model can be utilized either independently or integrated into a computer-assisted language learning (CALL) system. Furthermore, our findings suggest that there is significant room for improvement in this area, particularly in collecting large audio datasets for all the Arabic phonemes, refining the algorithms, and optimizing the data processing pipeline. © 2023 IEEE.

Polarization imaging and computational polarimetric methods based on backscattering Mueller matrix measurement have shown great potential as a powerful information probing tool in the field of in vivo biomedical detection. However, for the backscattering polarization measurement system, the calculation and analysis of the Mueller matrix derived parameters are often related to the photon coordinate system, which can produce distinct responses with different selection and transformation of coordinate. Here, for the backscattering polarization measurement system with nearly the normal incidence, we first explore the representation of Mueller matrix elements in right-handed-nonunitary and non-right-handed-unitary systems, and further deduce and prove the photon coordinate system transformation invariants in the Mueller matrix decoding methods prevalently used in backscattering tissue polarimetry. Finally, we validate the theoretical derivation results experimentally, which can be helpful for providing a crucial criterion of parameters selection for backscattering Mueller matrix imaging under different photon coordinate systems. © 2024 SPIE.

the rise of fake news has made the need for effective detection methods, including in languages other than English, increasingly important. the study aims to address the challenges of Bangla which is considered a less important language. To this end, a complete dataset containing about 50,000 news items is proposed. Several deep learning models have been tested on this dataset, including the bidirectional gated recurrent unit (GRU), the long short-term memory (LSTM), the 1D convolutional neural network (CNN), and hybrid architectures. For this research, we assessed the efficacy of the model utilizing a range of useful measures, including recall, precision, F1 score, and accuracy. this was done by employing a big application. We carry out comprehensive trials to show the effectiveness of these models in identifying bogus news in Bangla, with the Bidirectional GRU model having a stunning accuracy of 99.16%. Our analysis highlights the importance of dataset balance and the need for continual improvement efforts to a substantial degree. this study makes a major contribution to the creation of Bangla fake news detecting systems with limited resources, thereby setting the stage for future improvements in the detection process. © 2024 ACM.

Monkeypox is a viral disease found in Central and West Africa, and it presents notable public health challenges due to its clinical similarity to smallpox. Recent outbreaks in over 40 countries have underscored the urgent need for quick and accurate diagnosis, especially in settings with limited resources where traditional diagnostic methods may be inadequate. this study explores the application of deep learning techniques to classify four specific types of monkeypox skin lesions. Transfer learning was employed to evaluate the performance of different models using a dataset of 770 skin lesion images. Various methods, including data augmentation and image preprocessing, were utilized to improve the effectiveness of the models. the results indicate that the custom SqueezeNet model was the most successful, achieving an accuracy of 98.85% and an F1 score of 98.89%. these results surpass previous research benchmarks across four key evaluation measures. Additionally, the model was integrated into a web-based diagnostic tool capable of reliably detecting different forms of monkeypox. this study represents a significant advancement in utilizing artificial intelligence for disease detection, offering a practical approach for early and accurate monkeypox diagnosis. the proposed system has thex potential for seamless integration into clinical practice, aiding healthcare professionals in timely interventions. © 2024 IEEE.

In recent years, modern trams have developed rapidly. In order to ensure the daily operation of modern trams, we need to use rail inspection vehicles to detect the track conditions of the relevant lines, and the mileage deviation in the detection process will have a certain impact on the detection results. In this paper, aiming at the mileage deviation problem in the mileage measurement of the trough rail track of modern trams, a vehicle dynamic model is established to assist the Strapdown Inertial Navigation System to correct the mileage deviation of the rail inspection vehicle. that is, a vehicle dynamic model is established, and the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method is used to solve the speed information in real time. the SINS error equation is used as the state equation, and the speed difference between the dynamic model and the SINS solution is the observed value. the cubature kalman filter is used, and the estimated state error is used to correct the Strapdown Inertial navigation, that is, the output mileage data of the Integrated Navigation System assisted by the vehicle dynamics model is used to correct the mileage data of the original Strapdown Inertial Navigation System. the simulation results show that the measurement accuracy of the mileage data after mileage correction is improved by 20%, and the divergence of mileage error is effectively restrained. © 2022 IEEE.

this research paper presents a mathematical framework for optimizing the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) in a hybrid wind and solar power generation system using the particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique. the inherent variability of renewable energy sources (RES), including wind and solar, over time has necessitated the development of hybrid renewable energy systems (HRES). To maximize the energy output from the hybrid system, an MPPT control algorithm is essential for accurately tracking the maximum power based on the fluctuations in wind speeds and solar irradiation. Several methods have been proposed for MPPT control, and this paper focuses on employing the PSO algorithm to achieve efficient power tracking. the proposed system architecture encompasses mathematical models of the wind turbine, photovoltaic (PV) system, and interfacing power electronic components. through simulation results, the effectiveness of the PSO-based MPPT controller is demonstrated. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
