A code defect detection method based on Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) and ensemble learning was proposed to solve the low accuracy and reliability of the existing neural networks in the task of code defect detection due to insufficient feature extraction and weak generalization ability. this method involves extracting the Abstract Syntax Tree (AST) and the Token depth feature information vector of the source code using the BERT model. then, the different feature information expressions of text vectors were learned by establishing the heterogeneous multi-base classifiers of such neural network models as Graph Convolutional Networks (GCN), Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), and Bidirectional Long Short-term Memory (BiLISM). Subsequently, the different feature information of text vectors was fused via Stacking ensemble learning for training and prediction. this fusion aimed to bolster the model feature extraction and generalization abilities. As demonstrated by the experimental findings, the proposed method exhibits an enhanced accuracy, showcasing improvements of 7.08% and 11.76% when juxtaposed against VulPecker and SySeVr, respectively. © 2023 IEEE.

Tumor growth models can help predict the response of tumors to different treatments. this work presents a generic mathematical model that combines tumor growth, the pharmacokinetics of the drugs administered, and the evolution of the possible side effects of the treatment. Tumors are complex systems, and they can exhibit different growth patterns under the same initial conditions. To deal with these uncertainties, a stochastic model predictive strategy has been developed to reduce the tumor size while minimizing side effects. thus, probabilistic constraints have been incorporated into the optimization problem, giving rise to a chance-constrained model predictive approach. A one-year treatment simulation assessment is performed to compare the stochastic model predictive controller with the standard implementation. the results demonstrate that the proposed approach improves the performance of the controller, satisfying the marked objectives. Overall, while tumor growth modeling can provide valuable insights into the behavior of tumors, it is important to incorporate sources of uncertainty to ensure that the models accurately capture the behavior of all tumors. © 2023 IEEE.

this paper explores yet another software reliability modeling framework based on non-homogeneous Markov processes (NHMPs). For two subclasses of NHMPs;generalized binomial processes (GBPs) and generalized Polya processes (GPPs), we formulate 22 novel NHMP-based software reliability models (SRMs) with 11 kinds of baseline intensity functions, which are different from the existing NHMP-based SRMs by Li et al. (2023). Our evaluation of NHMP-based SRMs focuses on assessing their goodness-of-fit and predictive performances using 8 sets of software fault detection time-interval data (group data). the results are compared with the infinite-failure NHPP-based SRMs. through comprehensive numerical experiments, we show that our new modeling framework could provide the strengths in the goodness-of-fit performance but have some limitations on the predictive performance in the early testing phase. © 2023 IEEE.

With the rapid development of the power system, the status monitoring, fault diagnosis, and predictive maintenance of transmission and transformation equipment have become important links in ensuring the safe operation of the power grid. this article proposes an integrated analysis method for different types of mechanism models of power transmission and transformation equipment, aiming to improve prediction accuracy and practicality by integrating the advantages of multiple models. this article first introduces the research background and significance, then elaborates on key technologies such as data integration, data specification, and model integration, and conducts in-depth analysis of the specific implementation process using formulas. Finally, the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method were demonstrated through experimental verification and practical application. © 2025 SPIE.

One of the avenues to integrate more renewable energies is to contract flexibility through managing the energy use of building stocks, through incentives and penalties. there are different incentive-aware control strategies utilized for districts to tap that flexibility, such as Rule Based Control (RBC) and Model predictive Control (MPC). MPC as one of the most potent control strategies is capable of optimizing the cost of the households over a certain time horizon, and subsequently provide flexibility through receiving an incentive signal, such as the price of electricity, alongside using an optimizer and a predictive model of the building. the provided flexibility characteristics however, may be impacted by the type and quality of the predictive model of the building, as it captures the physics of the building. One of the methods to investigate the provided flexibility is the concept of Flexibility Function (FF), which has six main Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). and the FF could characterize the flexibility dynamics in a quantitative manner for the future contractions. this concept has mainly been applied on individual buildings so far. In this study, it will be applied on district level. To do so, a dummy district is generated in Dymola using the Modelica language through the IDEAS library. then a dataset is generated for each of the buildings and two different modelling techniques are used to develop the predictive models for each of them. Afterwards, an MPC is casted for each building and a price signal (impulse signal) is broadcasted to them to realize the response of the district. Finally, using the concept of FF and its KPIs, it is investigated how a certain modelling technique for the predictive model is impacting the overall flexibility of the entire district.

Traditional graph neural networks (GNNs) construct static graph structures, which are unable to dynamically adapt to market changes. To address this challenge, this paper proposes an integrated prediction model combining GNNs and reinforcement learning (RL), enabling dynamic adjustment of graph structures to enhance the model's adaptability and predictive ability in volatile markets. Firstly, we use GNNs to extract complex inter-stock relationships from historical stock data, constructing a dynamic market structure. Secondly, through RL strategies within the RL model, we continuously adjust trading decisions to maximize long-term returns and adapt to market changes. this combined model not only captures market trading information but also responds promptly to market dynamics, achieving more accurate predictions. Experimental results on multiple datasets of Taiwan 50 constituent stocks demonstrate that our proposed GNN-RL model outperforms traditional methods in terms of accuracy and other metrics, proving its potential and superiority in practical applications. © 2024 IEEE.

the increasing use of digital platforms has boosted the generation of databases with heterogeneous data. So, Model Driven engineering faces the challenge of developing efficient methodologies that deal with semi-structured data for their treatment and analysis. this paper applies the R language to develop a transformation chain that links models with different abstraction levels. Such a transformation also transforms semi-structured data into structured data, which allows us to facilitate the analysis of heterogeneous databases. In this sense, we show that the R language can be applied to solve software engineering problems since R provides an environment that guarantees maintainability, reusability, and extensibility concerning the treatment of heterogeneous databases. © 2024 IEEE.

this paper presents the FormAI dataset, a large collection of 112, 000 AI-generated compilable and independent C programs with vulnerability classification. We introduce a dynamic zero-shot prompting technique constructed to spawn diverse programs utilizing Large Language models (LLMs). the dataset is generated by GPT-3.5-turbo and comprises programs with varying levels of complexity. Some programs handle complicated tasks like network management, table games, or encryption, while others deal with simpler tasks like string manipulation. Every program is labeled with the vulnerabilities found within the source code, indicating the type, line number, and vulnerable function name. this is accomplished by employing a formal verification method using the Efficient SMT-based Bounded Model Checker (ESBMC), which uses model checking, abstract interpretation, constraint programming, and satisfiability modulo theories to reason over safety/security properties in programs. this approach definitively detects vulnerabilities and offers a formal model known as a counterexample, thus eliminating the possibility of generating false positive reports. We have associated the identified vulnerabilities with Common Weakness Enumeration (CWE) numbers. We make the source code available for the 112, 000 programs, accompanied by a separate file containing the vulnerabilities detected in each program, making the dataset ideal for training LLMs and machine learning algorithms. Our study unveiled that according to ESBMC, 51.24% of the programs generated by GPT-3.5 contained vulnerabilities, thereby presenting considerable risks to software safety and security.

To eliminate the need for constant human monitoring and improve trash management in large cities, a prototype system has been created. In this case, the issue of disorganized and unsystematic garbage collection is addressed by using an embedded IoT system to track the quantity of garbage placed in each container. Wet and dry garbage, as well as electronic waste, may be separated with the use of an automated system (a mechanical and software arrangement). Wet and dry garbage are separated using sensors. An infrared (IR) sensor can detect the presence of both wet and dry trash. Next, a moisture sensor is used for recognizing damp trash, and two machine learning models, a multilayer perceptron, and a multilayer convolutional neural network (ML-CNN), are utilized for sensing electronic waste. Binary categorization, such as dry or wet and electronic trash, is provided by the multilayer perceptron, and the ML-CNN detects the different waste classes. Furthermore, a camera is positioned in front of the garbage conveyor belt to photograph the trash for sorting purposes. After being sorted, trash is deposited using an electronic controller into the properly designated container. At the very top of each container is a set of ultrasonic sensors. the trash can's capacity is determined by the readings from the ultrasonic sensor. this allows for accurate tracking of how much trash is being stored in each container. A notification will be sent to the designated recipient once the container is full. the trash can is very adaptable. © 2023 IEEE.

this study focuses on developing effective methods for predicting and responding to network security threats using advanced computational techniques. Our approach begins with constructing a detailed network security assessment model that evaluates network assets based on their confidentiality, integrity, and availability. this model enables a thorough understanding of the network security landscape. We then apply predictive analytics to uncover the complex patterns in network security events, specifically examining how sample size and concurrent user count affect the performance of prediction models. Our findings suggest that increasing sample size improves both accuracy and specificity of these models, while the effect of concurrent user count on accuracy is minimal, though it does impact specificity. In addition, we develop and employ sophisticated computational techniques to enhance real-time response strategies. By analyzing the predictive model results, we aim to create adaptive response algorithms that can adjust to the evolving nature of network threats. this approach provides actionable insights for optimizing response strategies and improving overall network security. the study concludes with recommendations for integrating these predictive and response methods into practical applications, offering valuable insights for enhancing network security through advanced computational approaches. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).
