Accurate software effort estimation has always been challenge for softwareengineering communities. To improve the estimation accuracy of software effort, many studies have focused on effort estimation methods without any consideration of data quality, although data quality is one of important factors to impact to the estimation accuracy. In this paper, we investigate the influence of outlier elimination upon the accuracy of software effort estimation through empirical studies applying two outlier elimination methods(Least trimmed square and K-means clustering) and three effort estimation methods(Least squares, Neural network and Bayes ian network) associatively. the empirical studies are performed using two industry data sets(the ISBSG Release 9 and the Bank data set which consists of the project data performed in a bank in Korea) with or without outlier elimination. Consequence analysis involves a suite of models, such as release, individual fire/explosion, radiation, overpressure, smoke & toxicity, human impact, and missile impact models. A wide range of consequence models are available in the literature to carry out such an analysis. Recently efforts have been made to revise the models, including: i) Fire models: Existing fire models have been reviewed and the ones most suitable for offshore conditions were selected;ii) Overpressure impact model: A model has been developed to quantify the overpressure effects from fires to investigate the possible damage from the hot combustion gases released in highly confined compartments;iii) Radiation model: Instead of a point/area model, a multipoint grid-based model has been adopted for better modeling and analysis of radiation heat flux consequences, and iv) Missile model: a novel probabilistic model was developed to analyze the missile impact on people and equipment in a confined process area. Novel elements introduced in this work are the concept of a vulnerable area, effective range interval, effective orientation interval, and effective trajectory interval. In this paper, we have revisited our previously proposed grid-based approach for consequence analysis for offshore process operation. A comparison of grid-based approach results withthe ones used in commercial software is also briefly discussed.

Over time respective models have to be re-aligned to the real-world business processes through customization or adaptation. this bears the risk that model redundancies are introduced and complexity is increased. If no continuous investment is made in keeping models simple, changes are becoming increasingly costly and error-prone. though refactoring techniques are widely used in softwareengineering to address related problems, this does not yet constitute state-of-the art in business process management. Process designers either have to refactor process models by hand or cannot apply respective techniques at all. this paper proposes a set of behaviour-preserving techniques for refactoring large process repositories. this enables process designers to effectively deal with model complexity by making process models better understandable and easier to maintain.

In many academic and industrial centers, software modeling has already been introduced into their curricula. Despite this, it seems that education does not yet support the modeling paradigm well enough thus limiting its acceptance as a mature method of developing software systems. the goal of this, symposium was to find ways to change this situation. Specifically, the symposium sought ways of showing benefits of modeling in a way that is pedagogically effective and attractive to the students. It also tried to make recommendations for placing the modeling courses in the overall software development educational path, which should include not only UML fundamentals but also a demonstration of the importance and place of modeling in the overall path from business environment to software products.

Although the main focus of MDE is on the generation of code, it is also necessary to support the analysis of the designs with respect to quality attributes such as performance. To complement the model-to-implementation path of MDE approaches, at MDE tool infrastructure should provide what we call model-driven analysis. this paper describes an approach to model-driven analysis based on reasoning frameworks. lit particular, it, describes a performance reasoning framework that can transform a design into a model suitable for analysis of real-time performance properties with different evaluation procedures including rate monotonic analysis and simulation. the concepts presented in this paper have been implemented in the PACC Starter Kit, a development environment that supports code generation and analysis front the same models.
