Quantum computing (QC) shows the potential to trigger a paradigm shift for numerous industries. As an emerging technology, methodological support for designing and developing QC-based applications is lacking. this paper presents the results of a case study applying consortium research in order to perform a requirements engineering process for two QC-based applications in the manufacturing industry. the results show the differences between requirements engineering for QC applications and conventional software applications. the major findings point to the need for QC knowledge and best practices for a successful requirements engineering process and elaborate on the main differences between QC application- and software application requirements.

It is expected that in the near future, AI software development assistants will play an important role in the software industry. However, current software development assistants tend to be unreliable, often producing incorrect, unsafe, or low-quality code. We seek to resolve these issues by introducing a holistic architecture for constructing, training, and using trustworthy AI software development assistants. In the center of the architecture, there is a foundational LLM trained on datasets representative of real-world coding scenarios and complex software architectures, and fine-tuned on code quality criteria beyond correctness. the LLM will make use of graph-based code representations for advanced semantic comprehension. We envision a knowledge graph integrated into the system to provide up-to-date background knowledge and to enable the assistant to provide appropriate explanations. Finally, a modular framework for constrained decoding will ensure that certain guarantees (e.g., for correctness and security) hold for the generated code.

Curricula recommendation for undergraduate softwareengineering courses underscore the importance of transcending from traditional lecture format to actively involving students in time-limited, iterative development practices. this paper presents a teaching approach for a software testing course that integrates theory and practical experience through the utilization of both TBL and active contributions to OSS projects. the paper reports on our experience implementing the pedagogical approach over four consecutive semesters of a software Testing course within an undergraduate softwareengineering program. the experience encompassed both online and in-person classes, involving a substantial cohort of over 300 students spanning four semesters. Students' perceptions regarding the course are analyzed and compared with previous, related studies. Our results are positively aligned withthe existing literature of softwareengineering teaching, confirming the effectiveness of combining TBL with OSS contributions. Additionally, our survey has shed light on the challenges that students encounter during their first contribution to OSS projects, highlighting the need for targeted solutions. Overall, the experience demonstrates that the proposed pedagogical structure can effectively facilitate the transition from theoretical knowledge to real-world practice in the domain of software Testing.
