Modal analysis has advanced as a vital technology for studying structural dynamics by capturing complex phenomena through modal parameters. However, manual pole selection from stabilization diagrams can be challenging, especially with complex datasets, necessitating automation for precision and repeatability. this study introduces three Automated Modal Analysis (AMA) methodologies using ML density-based clustering techniques (DBSCAN, OPTICS, HDBSCAN) along with domain knowledge. these methodologies are evaluated against manual selections by engineers with varying levels of expertise across eight industrial datasets, covering diverse structures like metallic specimens, motors, cars, a jet aircraft, and a wind turbine blade. Engineers' proficiency levels are categorized into novices, intermediates, and experts, depending on their expertise in the field. the paper provides a comprehensive comparative analysis, assessing metrics such as the number of selected modes, the quality of modal models, and alignment with expert results. © 2024 proceedings of ISMA 2024 - International conference on Noise and Vibration engineering and USD 2024 - International conference on Uncertainty in Structural Dynamics. the increasing use of digital platforms has boosted the generation of databases with heterogeneous data. So, Model Driven engineering faces the challenge of developing efficient methodologies that deal with semi-structured data for their treatment and analysis. this paper applies the R language to develop a transformation chain that links models with different abstraction levels. Such a transformation also transforms semi-structured data into structured data, which allows us to facilitate the analysis of heterogeneous databases. In this sense, we show that the R language can be applied to solve software engineering problems since R provides an environment that guarantees maintainability, reusability, and extensibility concerning the treatment of heterogeneous databases. © 2024 IEEE.

this paper proposes an innovative hardware implementation of the complete multi-head attention mechanism, reducing resource consumption and boosting speed while addressing the Transformer model's computational complexity. Experimental results show that the total utilization of logic lookup tables (LUT) is 28,218, accounting for 60% of the total resources, while registers (regs) used are 16,648, accounting for 16% of the total resources. the model with a dimension of 48 was verified on an FPGA development board with the model number xc7k160tfbg676-1. the data of the model was quantized to 16-bit fixed-point, and the final results showed an average error of 0.0069 compared to the software calculations. the execution time was 1.3871 ms, which is 30.26% faster than the 1.9891 ms required by the software. Additionally, by reproducing the typical systolic array structure in matrix operations and implementing side-channel attacks based on its power consumption characteristics, the model structure and parameters were inferred using simple power analysis (SPA) methods. © 2024 IEEE.

Recently, WiFi Fingerprinting-based indoor positioning systems have gained significant attention due to the low cost of infrastructure deployment. In the data collection process, a higher density of reference points may lead to better positioning results. However, it makes this process time-consuming and laborious. To solve this problem, this study applies and compares different interpolation methods to enrich the fingerprint database without increasing the cost of the collection process. To evaluate the performance of the chosen methods, five interpolation methods are implemented in a multi-condition WiFi Fingerprinting dataset. Moreover, to check the robustness of the methods, different numbers of reference points are considered when creating the new interpolated fingerprint databases. According to the results, inverse distance weighting (IDW) is the most suitable interpolation method with low complexity and stable performance. the IDW-based database achieves an average interpolation error of less than 6 dBm compared to the original database. When applying this interpolated database to perform positioning tasks, it helps reduce the collection cost by 30% with slightly lower positioning results compared to the original database. this work demonstrates the feasibility of using interpolation to ease the data collection process of WiFi Fingerprinting, especially in complex and big areas such as airports or hospitals. Due to possible failure of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), a connected flying ad hoc network (FANET) may be divided into multiple sub-networks. In this case, the FANET connectivity should be restored in a short time and at a low cost. In this paper, we investigate the FANET connectivity restoration when a FANET is split. Firstly, in order to restore the FANET connectivity in a centralized manner, we propose a software-defined networking (SDN)-based FANET architecture. the process of FANET connectivity restoration is designed based on this architecture. Secondly, we propose a UAV scheduling algorithm based on greedy idea to calculate the position to which each mission UAV needs to move, so that the FANET connectivity can be restored through mission UAV movement. this algorithm should be invoked by the SDN controller. Numerical results show that our approach can restore the FANET connectivity with a lower total movement distance and a lower maximum movement distance than three other baselines. © 2023 IEEE.

the motivation behind developing a Li-Fi-based toll collection system stems from the need to modernize vehicle communication and ensure efficient and contactless information exchange between vehicle and tollgate. the problem lies in the current limitations of toll collection, which relies on outdated radio or manual signaling methods. these methods may not provide energy harvesting and timely communication during emergencies. To address these challenges, a Li-Fi-based toll collection system is proposed. this system utilized Light Fidelity (Li-Fi) technology, which uses visible light to transmit data wirelessly using Arduino Nano, ESP32 microcontroller, and a solar panel are integrated to ensure seamless, contactless communication. the Arduino Nano handles the input system, gathering data of vehicle number. this data is transmitted via a light-based communication channel to a toll collection point, where a solar panel is the receiver. the ESP32 module processes the data, ensuring secure and energy-efficient operation. Real-time feedback is provided through an LCD for easy monitoring. the results of this approach demonstrate that Li-Fi technology offers a faster, more reliable, and more secure communication system compared to traditional radio or manual methods. © 2024 IEEE.

this paper presents a simulator generator designed to aid in the development of domain-specific protocols that enable semantic communication, where messages include annotations specifying the meaning of individual fields. Furthermore, the field types are dynamic, meaning they are incorporated into messages based on the domain’s underlying ontology. To experiment with such domain-specific semantic protocols, designers require data for protocol evaluation. Simulation is a common solution to this need. Simulations are produced by simulators—software systems that take inputs and generate results. For typical applications, generic simulators are often available. this paper introduces a system, named dg, that generates simulators for semantic communication protocol designers, based on specifications (inputs and constraints) provided in an ontology. Additionally, we demonstrate how the same ontology can be used to explore simulation results. Finally, since our approach involves policies that account for information uncertainty in both simulator implementation and result querying, we propose initiating an effort to develop an uncertainty-related extension to the SPARQL query language. © 2024 by Paper published under CC license (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).

Metamorphic malware is a kind of malware that modifies its source code with each new infection. the source code modification is carried out by a morphing engine that applies particular metamorphism techniques, which allows each metamorphic variant of a malware to have a unique signature, disabling signature-based detection models. therefore, behavioral analysis becomes essential for malware detection. A behavioral analysis-based detection model trained on data from a specific morphing engine can detect new metamorphic variants produced by that same engine. However, these models often struggle with samples generated by different morphing engines, i.e. zero-day metamorphic malware. Due to the concept drift problem, which is also challenging for many classification and detection problems, many existing malware detection methods tend to underperform when tested on a dataset different from the malware dataset they were trained on. In this study, we aim to explore this issue and examine potential solutions for zero-day metamorphic malware detection using different approaches based on static analysis along with machine and deep learning techniques. We also utilize ransomware samples in order to show their contribution to metamorphic malware detection. Experiments we conducted demonstrate that zero-day metamorphic malware can be effectively detected using a straightforward and efficient model that leverages opcode sequences. © 2024 IEEE.

Doubly fed induction generators (DFIG) are widely used in constant-frequency wind power generation systems. the traditional mathematical mechanism model of DFIGs presents high-dimensional complexity in complex application scenarios such as wind power grid integration systems. this paper proposes a non-mechanical modeling method for DIFG based on Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) neural networks. this method collects data from DFIG grid integration systems, constructs input and output features, and uses the RNN algorithm to establish the nonlinear mapping relationships between features, resulting in a non-mechanical model of the DFIG grid integration system. this model can achieve high-precision prediction of various electrical quantities in DFIG grid integration systems. Experimental verification demonstrates the feasibility of this method, indicating that it can model different features under various working conditions and achieve high accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.

Water bodies play a fundamental role in the development of society. the construction of dams for water storage has been carried out since ancient civilizations and, along with the development of modern society, new forms of construction have emerged. Over time, these constructions led to improvements for the population which, in turn, took the price of changing the environment and its effects. On this paper a water level audit system was developed with hardware for sensing and sending the data through the cellular network to a server for storage and later displaying it to the user so that he doesn't need to go back to the essay location, being useful for research on the local hydraulic system. © 2024 IEEE.
