The growing interest in distributedcomputing with the use of multiple microcomputers is discussed. A case study of an experimental project of this kind is described. Several aspects of distributedcomputing and the application of a set of loosely coupled computers are presented.
The development of suitable user Interfaces to applications can be a difficult task. This task Is further complicated when designing applications to operate In a distributed environment where one could take advantage ...

This paper describes UNIQNET, a UNIX network system consistently extended for a distributed personal computing environment with heterogeneous powerful small computers.
A set of Personal Computers is connected to form a ring-structured parallel system. Each computer has access to its local memory and can communicate with its two neighbours in the ring. This network of asynchronous pr...

distributedcomputing systems have great advantages over centralized computing systems in various applications, but they are also much more complicated to develop, especially their software. One of the major complications in developing such a software system is the process communication. In this paper, an approach to verification of communication in the distributedcomputing system software is presented. Proof rules for communication statements and techniques for handling complicated system execution sequences are developed so that distributedcomputing system software using various communication mechanisms can be verified.
