3D applications, e.g. in the context of visualization or interactive design review, can require complex user interaction to manipulate certain elements, a typical task which requires standard userinterface elements. ...

A large amount of resources and effort have been devoted to the development of open source software like Linux. The development of Linux as the most well-known open source software with graphical userinterface and useful functionalities is expected to result in the high level of Linux adoption by individual users based on the technology adoption model. However, Linux has about one percent of the operating systems market for personal computers. user resistance to switch remains one of the major obstacles in any successful open source migration. Based on the integration of equity implementation model and technology adoption model, this study examines how users form their resistance and the effect of user resistance on the adoption of Linux by individual users for their personal computers. The findings show that the adoption intention is negatively influenced by user resistance to switch. This study discusses the role and effect of user resistance to switch based on the equity implementation model in comparison with the two main determinants of technology adoption. This study contributes toward advancing theoretical understanding of OSS migration and user resistance. The findings also offer OSS community and practitioners suggestion for promoting the use of OSS by individual users.

Many modern application development frameworks separate presentation logic and business logic into layers. However, urrent model-based GUI testing tools do not model and test presentation logic and business logic separately. This paper proposes to separate business logic from the GUI behaviour model. The business logic is modelled using traditional model-based testing tools like Spec Explorer while the presentation logic is recorded by a capture/replay tool. The two parts are connected via a mapping model. This paper proposes a new approach to test multiple GUI variants of an application in a reusable manner and introduces the GUI Test Generator (GTG). GTG is a tool which allows testers to define a mapping from business logic to presentation logic. Based on the mapping, GTG converts business logic test cases into presentation logic test cases. GTG is particularly useful for testing applications with a single business logic core and multiple variants of the userinterface. This paper introduces the architecture of GTG and presents a case study for testing two different front-ends of an email client. Copyright 2010 acm.
