Jumping rope is a very efcient aerobic exercise, during which the exerciser can maintain an efcient heart rate range (heart rate value to 140 similar to 160bpm). However, at present, people are unable to recognize whether they are in this ideal aerobic state in a timely and accurate manner, and there is no convenient way of showing exercisers how to perform efcient jumping rope exercises. We developed an early prototype, Rope X, an exercise device that communicates the exerciser's heart rate status through a dynamic interactive interface and gives the exerciser a certain degree of guidance, as to the correct use of the jumping rope to improve the efciency of the jumping rope exercise (aerobic exercise).

HapticBots introduces a novel encountered-type haptic approach for Virtual Reality (VR) based on multiple tabletop-size shape-changing robots. These robots move on a tabletop and change their height and orientation to haptically render various surfaces and objects on-demand. Compared to previous encountered-type haptic approaches like shape displays or robotic arms, our proposed approach has an advantage in deployability, scalability, and generalizability-these robots can be easily deployed due to their compact form factor. They can support multiple concurrent touch points in a large area thanks to the distributed nature of the robots. We propose and evaluate a novel set of interactions enabled by these robots which include: 1) rendering haptics for VR objects by providing just-in-time touch-points on the user's hand, 2) simulating continuous surfaces with the concurrent height and position change, and 3) enabling the user to pick up and move VR objects through graspable proxy objects. Finally, we demonstrate HapticBots with various applications, including remote collaboration, education and training, design and 3D modeling, and gaming and entertainment.

Quantum computing is an emerging technology that has the potential to revolutionize fields such as cryptography, machine learning, optimization, and quantum simulation. However, a major challenge in the realization of quantum algorithms on actual machines is ensuring that the gates in a quantum circuit (i.e., corresponding operations) match the topology of a targeted architecture so that the circuit can be executed while, at the same time, the resulting costs (e.g., in terms of the number of additionally introduced gates, fidelity, etc.) are kept low. This is known as the quantum circuit mapping problem. This summary paper provides an overview of QMAP-an open-source tool that is part of the Munich Quantum Toolkit (MQT) and offers efficient, automated, and accessible methods for tackling this problem. To this end, the paper first briefly reviews the problem. Afterwards, it shows how QMAP can be used to efficiently map quantum circuits to quantum computing architectures from both a user's and a developer's perspective. This article designs and implements a runtime library for general dataflow programming, DFCPP (Luo Q, Huang J, Li J, Du Z. proceedings of the 52nd International Conference on Parallel Processing Workshops. acm;2023:145-152.), and builds upon it to design and implement a multi-machine C++ dataflow library, M-DFCPP. In comparison to existing dataflow programming environments, DFCPP features a user-friendly interface and richer expressive capabilities (Luo Q, Huang J, Li J, Du Z. proceedings of the 52nd International Conference on Parallel Processing Workshops. acm;2023:145-152.), enabling the representation of various types of dataflow actor tasks (static, dynamic and conditional task). Besides that, DFCPP addresses the memory management and task scheduling for non-uniform memory access architectures, while other dataflow libraries lack attention to these issues. M-DFCPP extends the capability of current dataflow runtime libraries (DFCPP, taskflow, openstream, etc.) and capable of multi-machine computing, while maintains the API compatible with DFCPP. M-DFCPP adopts the concepts of master and follower (Dean J, Ghemawat S. Commun acm. 2008;51(1):107-113;Ghemawat S, Gobioff H, Leung ST. acm SIGOPS Operating Systems Review. acm;2003:29-43.), which form a worksharing framework as many multi-machine system. To shift to the M-DFCPP framework, a filtering layer is inserted to the original DFCPP, transforming it into followers that can cooperate with each other. The master is made of modules for scheduling, data processing, graph partition, state management and so forth. In benchmark tests with workload with directed acyclic graph topology of binary trees and random graphs, DFCPP demonstrated performance improvements of 20% and 8%, respectively, compared to the second fastest library.
