In the Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI) system, it is necessary to stitch high-resolution Printed Circuit Board (PCB) partial images in real time to obtain a panoramic image. However, the proportion of the overlapping area of these images is usually relatively small, and there are few feature points in the overlap area of some images. Traditional image stitching algorithms are not effective in processing such images, and it is difficult to meet the requirements of real-time stitching. Therefore, we propose RTStitch, a method specially used for real-time stitching of high-resolution PCB images in AOI systems. We divide the images into two categories. An image with a large change in the pixel gray value of the first column in the overlapping area is the first type of image, otherwise, it is the second type of image. We use different methods to obtain a relatively accurate maximum overlap position for these two types of images. Besides, we propose a new method of selecting template images, then perform template matching to obtain horizontal and vertical errors. We focus on the areas where the gray level changes drastically in the overlapping area to improve the accuracy of the registration. Our experimental results show that for the first type of image, RTStitch improves the registration accuracy by more than 2%, while for the second type of image, the registration accuracy is improved by more than 10 %. And more than doubled the stitching speed. Moreover, RTStitch can meet the high-precision and real-time requirements of the AOI system.

This paper introduces a design method of intelligent English translation system based on TTS technology. On this basis, according to the actual needs of English translation, TTS technology (text analysis, prosody control and speech synthesis) is used to design the system software, which mainly includes continuous speech automatic segmentation and annotation, prosody control, speech synthesis and speech library clipping. Through the above hardware design and software design, an intelligent automatic English translation system has been put into use. The experimental results show that compared with the control system, the deviation of phonological control parameters obtained by the design system is smaller and the phonological naturalness factor is larger, which fully indicates that the design system is more accurate in English translation.

The article presents the results of the development of a lightning monitoring method based on the synthesis of sensor systems and UAVs. A variant of the hardware-software model of the system for monitoring thunderstorm activity zones is presented. The integrated use of a space-time reference system based on navigation satellite technologies, a sensor system for determining the spatial characteristics of thunderstorm activity zones, as well as data exchange based on wireless technologies creates conditions for improving the safety of manned and unmanned aerial vehicles. The results of a natural experiment are presented. The thunderstorm detection range is at least 27 km, which exceeds the set restrictions of 10 km and 15 km to execute flights in accordance with the VFR and IFR rules, respectively. The resulting results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2022 IEEE.

In this work we present a constructive genetic programming method with penalty function for hw/sw cosynthesis of embedded systems. The genotype is a tree which contains in its nodes system construction options. Unlike existing solutions in this approach individuals which violate time constrains are investigated during evolution process. Therefore the algorithm is even more able to escape local minima of optimizing parameters.

This work builds upon an extendable model-based design framework called SHeD that enables the automatic software synthesis of different classes of dataflow process networks (DPNs) which represent different kinds of models of computation (MoCs). SHeD proposes a general DPN model that can be restricted by constraints to special classes of DPNs. It provides a tool chain including different specialized code generators for specific MoCs and a runtime system that finally maps models using a combination of different MoCs on cross-vendor target hardware. In this paper, we further extend the framework by integrating Kahn process networks (KPNs) in addition to the so-far existing support of dynamic and static/synchronous DPNs. The tool chain is extended for automatically synthesizing the modeled systems for the target hardware. In particular, a specialized code generator is developed and the runtime system is extended to implement models based on the underlying semantics of the KPN MoC. We modeled and automatically synthesized a set of benchmarks for different target hardware based on all supported MoCs of the framework, including the newly integrated KPN MoC. The results are evaluated to analyze and compare the code size and the end-to-end performance of the generated implementations of all MoCs.

Recursion is a very efficient abstraction that. can be found in definitions of many algorithms. However, recursion can be difficult to implement in hardware and as a result is not supported by the majority of high-level synthesis tools (HLS). This work introduces a new framework for implementing recursive functions in hardware, which we call TreeRecur. TreeRecur uses trees to represent the branching recursive function calls of divide-and-conquer algorithms, which makes it possible to take advantage of their procedure-level parallelism. To allow for design flexibility, TreeRecur executes algorithms using a configurable number of independent function processors. These processors are generated using HLS design flow, making it easy to implement a variety of different algorithms. Functionality of our framework was tested on a field programmable gate array (FPGA) using two simple algorithms and compared against software implementations of the same algorithms. Performance results were collected in terms of execution speed and energy consumption. The execution speeds of TreeRecur are shown to be comparable to software programs when differences in clock speed are accounted for and its energy consumption is up to 11 times better than the software solution's.

Embedded systems are becoming increasingly complex, which has led to a productivity crisis in their design and verification. Although conventional design automation coupled with IP and platform reuse techniques have led to leaps in design productivity improvement, they face fundamental limits given that most design optimization and verification problems remain NP-hard and that reuse of pre-designed IP blocks and platforms inherently limits flexibility and optimality. At the same time, machine learning (ML) has recently made unprecedented advances and created phenomenal impact in various computing applications. In particular, application of ML techniques as a way to extract knowledge and learn from existing design, optimization and verification data has recently seen a lot of excitement and promise at lower physical and integrated circuit levels of abstraction. Using ML has the potential to similarly close the complexity gap in embedded system design, but corresponding ML-based approaches for embedded system optimization and verification at higher levels of abstraction are still at their *** paper presents the current state of the art, along with opportunities and open challenges, in the application of ML methods for embedded system design and optimization. We discuss design and optimization at different levels of abstraction ranging from system-level modeling and optimization and high-level synthesis to RTL and micro-architecture design, bringing together perspectives from different communities in both academia and industry.

Podcasts as a media format have been increasing popular in recent years. The ease of access to this format have contributed for its success story. However, the creation of Podcasts requires specifc hardware and software for recording and editing it. Some platforms have emerged with the proposal to ease this creation process, namely by introducing Text-to-Speech (TTS) technologies removing the need for capturing and editing voice, reducing the efort necessary for producing this format, yet no platform allows the use of TTS in Portuguese of Portugal while retaining the scope of "podcast creation platform". Taking these limitations in mind we present the proposal of an all-in-one Podcast Creation platform with the availability of TTS Technology in Portuguese of Portugal. The paper describes the usability testing (UX) of the platform using 3 methodologies being: Self-Assessment Manikin (SAM), system Usability Scale (SUS) and Attrakdif. with promising results regarding its usability and desirability.

In this work we present a novel genetic programming based iterative improvement approach for hardware/software cosynthesis of distributed embedded systems. The approach starts from a ready solution which is an embryo of a genotype. Other nodes in the genotypes are chromosomes. The chromosomes contain system refinement options. The final solution is obtained after evolution process and mapping genotype to phenotype. Unlike existing genetic programming iterative improvement methodologies our algorithm starts from randomly generated system. Therefore the search space is not constrained by any initial condition. It is also easier for the algorithm to escape local minima of optimizing parameters.
