Artificial Intelligence technology-driven Creativity Support Tools (AI-CSTs) provide specific field capability support for human creative activities. In this paper, we compare and analyze the current situation and trend of AI-CSTs design space in four aspects: creative stage, support form, support technology, and role diversity. Through a coding study and comparative analysis of 50 AI-CSTs cases, we discuss the impact of AI-CSTs on traditional workflows, the boundaries of AI-CSTs as co-creators, and how to treat AI errors, which provides insights for future AI-CSTs design. We summarize the collaboration framework in AI-CSTs. Finally, this paper also studies the information technology requirements and challenges of AI-CSTs research, which provides a new perspective to understanding the landscape of AI-CSTs. © 2023 IEEE.

Community detection based on information diffusion is a relatively niche direction. This paper proposes a social network community detection model based on the inner-community information diffusion simulation. The model uses the inner-community information diffusion algorithm adjusted on the naive infectious disease algorithm for node representation, including the dynamic spreading parameter and repeatable infected nodes. Model clusters nodes into communities according to their representation. Experiment results prove that our model outperforms previous related models on synthetic and real datasets. We verify the interpretability of the inner-community information diffusion representation algorithm meanwhile. © 2023 IEEE.

In democratic society, few processes are more consequential than the mechanisms for funding public goods. The subject of this study is one attempt to demonstrate such a mechanism: a real-world experiment to pioneer a concept called Universal Basic Philanthropy. In this experiment, a local nonprofit in the city of Albuquerque distributed free money to individuals to reallocate to other local nonprofits of their choosing. Over the course of approximately four years, the project facilitated 145,641 over 13,812 donations from 702 people to 59 organizations. In this study, I use publicly available transaction data from the Albuquerque pilot project to explore the following question: how we can better understand social demand for public goods? Using a network approach, I characterize the organizations supported by participants in the project using three measures of graph centrality: intensity, popularity, and connectivity. I use natural language processing to embed, cluster, and aggregate these centrality measures at the level of causes. The paramount result is as follows: organizations in arts, culture, and education have a comparative advantage in the intensity of fundraising while organizations in civics, basic needs, and other causes have a comparative advantage in connectivity. © 2024 ACM.

The moth-flame optimization (MFO) algorithm is extensively employed to attain the global optimization of the problem. The disadvantages of the original MFO algorithm include poor population variety, a sluggish rate of convergence, and an easy propensity to be drawn in by local optimum. This paper presents a bi-population cooperative moth-flame optimization algorithm (BCMFO) to address the issues. Utilizing the low discrepancy sequence (LDS), a random population with a uniform distribution is produced in the search space. Two subpopulations with similar sizes are updated using Gauss mutation and opposition learning. To improve the algorithm's ability to search globally, the elite method is used to eliminate the subpar solutions from the population. BCMFO is used to optimize the networking mode and is confirmed using the benchmark test suite in CEC 2017. Experimental results show that BCMFO outperforms state-of-the-art algorithms. © 2023 IEEE.

The elaboration of future narratives in design Fiction has always been an individual activity, showing the unique vision of those who elaborated them and proposed the diegetic artifacts. Creating narratives collectively became possible with the Participatory design Fiction methodology, which recommends, however, that participants are in the same physical location. We present a methodology to enable the creation of future narratives and their smart devices by a group of geographically dispersed volunteers, the Participatory design Fiction Extend. With it, it was possible to train people, without knowledge about design Fiction, in the elaboration of narratives, as well as about smart devices in the future and diegetic artifacts. Volunteers produced narratives and proposed intelligent devices that were later analyzed looking for similarities, differences and complementary ideas, in the light of the concepts of the collective unconscious, enabling the construction of a unique narrative and an intelligent device that contemplated most of the foreseen functionalities. © 2023 IEEE.

In project-based software engineering courses, the collaboration among participants is usually the cornerstone that makes these experiences successful and allows reaching the courses' instructional goals. Prescribing a collaboration process for these courses is not appropriate, since their workflows are ad hoc framed;i.e., most of their activities are defined on-the-fly by the participants, according to their current context and needs. Therefore, only coordination and awareness mechanisms can be defined at the course design time, in order to support and promote collaboration among participants during these courses. This article presents a qualitative study that identifies and relates these coordination and awareness mechanisms, and embeds them in a set of software ceremonies. Course instructors and instructional designers can take advantage of these results, not only to identify design decision points, but also coordination and awareness mechanisms to promote collaboration in this type of courses. © 2023 IEEE.

Sleep plays a significant role in our health and well-being. We can see an increasing amount of work in HCI exploring the design for better sleep. However, most of these works only focus on sleep tracking and reminding. The social perspective of sleep is rarely explored. We believe that sleep is tightly associated with social connection and intimacy. This work explores how sleep sharing can facilitate social bonding over a distance. We present SleepyFlora, an interactive system that enables a user to know the other user's real-time sleep stages via a flower-shaped installation and augment their sleep by sending soothing aromas and playing music remotely. With SleepyFlora, we hope to further the understanding of interaction design around sleep by considering its social perspective. Moreover, we hope our work can provide a novel approach, i.e, enabling sleep sharing, for facilitating social bonding over a distance. © 2023 ACM.

IFTTT is one of the most popular Trigger-Action Programming platforms. The rules generated in IFTTT are named IoT Applets. Despite the powerful programming interface provided by IFTTT, establishing an Applet requires technical skills and is not convenient enough for most users. To address this problem, we propose a gesture based programming method to help end users establish and manage IoT Applets in a convenient way. It requires employment of an RGB-D camera, and recognizes users' pointing rays and hand actions. The obtained information is interpreted to certain devices and device events for Applet management. An experiment involving 20 participants validates the performance of our proposed method. © 2023 IEEE.

The memory dirty page prediction technology can effectively predict whether a memory page will be modified (dirty) at the next moment, and is widely used in virtual machine migration, container migration and other fields. In this paper, we propose a machine-learning based method for memory dirty page prediction. The method exploits the temporal and spatial locality principle of memory changes, collects dirty records of pages over a period of time, and uses supervised learning methods for training and predicting the dirty page. We also discuss the influence of data contradiction and data repetition in memory page dataset. The experiments with different memory change frequency dataset show that compared with the traditional time series methods, our machine-learning based method has better performance. © 2023 IEEE.
