Based on the physical,mechanical and hydromechanical properties of the fractured rock,it simply introduced the statistics method,JRC method and fractal method and others for describing the fractured rock *** comparing these methods above,the Duo-dimensionless parameters method(*** dimensionless asperity angle and the dimensionless asperity area) has been *** the physical and mechanical meanings of the two parameters have been analyzed,those two can combine the geometry characteristic,the mechanical and hydromechanical properties,also can better describe the surface topography of the fractured *** more,the seepage property of the fractured rock under different stress conditions has been presented using the Duo-dimensionless parameters,which can provide a foundation for research the relations between surface topography and the mechanical and flow properties of fractured rock.

The dynamics relaxation algorithm is used to solve quasi-static problem in Numerical Manifold Method(NMM).However,the mechanism of energy dissipation of NMM is *** this study,the viscoustype damping is adopted to absorb the kinetic energy caused by the oscillation of *** equilibrium equations containing damping term are derived by minimizing the total potential *** order to improve the calculation efficiencies of NMM,convergence criterion including displacement and acceleration criterion are defined to determine whether the system reach new *** example of strip foundation settlement is calculated to demonstrate the capability of the NMM with new *** numerical results show that the improved NMM has high accuracy and good convergence performance.

rock burst is one of the most serious geologic hazards,adversely affecting the safety,economy and productivity of underground engineering *** ground stress and its induced frequent rock bursts are major influences of tunnel instability during the survey and design and construction *** a major construction of the JinpingⅡHydro-power Station on the Yalongjiang River,the deep-buried water transfer tunnels face the problems of rock bursts in hard rock under high *** to the characteristic of the rock bursts in JinpingⅡHydro-power Station,the method of preventing the rock burst by rapid stress releasing was put forward,and the scheme of stress releasing hole was selected through numerical simulation by using FLAC(Fast Lagrangian Analysis of Continua) 3D explicit finite-difference *** the testing and application in water transfer tunnels of Jinping II Hydro-power Station,the rapid stress release method by blasting has proven to be an effective method for preventing and treating rock burst.

The use of fiber reinforced concrete with wet sprayed concrete technique can improve the concrete lining structure construction quality and improve the rock mass self-bearing *** the paper,the introduction of the wet-sprayed fiber reinforced concrete is proposed to be the ideal tunnel lining structure in both the hard rockmass and the soft and weak rockmass,namely Dongjusigou railway tunnel and Jinhuashan railway tunnel early stage lining *** monitoring data result shows that the rock mass pressure in experimental section is even distribution with lower rock mass pressure and lower concrete lining layer stress. The value of rock mass pressure and tunnel lining layer stress in comparison tunnel section is a little higher than that in experimental tunnel *** experimental tunnel section using fiber reinforced concrete has good lining effect.

ONKALO is the underground rock characterisation built for the final disposal of spent nuclear fuel at Olkiluoto,***,geophysics,hydro-geology,geochemistry and rock mechanics contribute to bedrock studies conducted during repository construction to ensure the suitability of the bedrock for the final disposal.A high-resolution 3D reflection seismic imaging survey was conducted in 2009 at a depth of app. 350 *** 240 m long were measured,with source stations spaced at 1 m and receivers at 3 m,respectively. Measurements were conducted with a hydraulic impact source that was used on the tunnel wall and *** were imaged couple of hundred meters away from the *** location of the target features was achieved by using 3-component receivers,two parallel source lines and 3D vector migration ***(Image Point) migration was found particularly useful for imaging narrow and roughly planar features of diverse orientations.

The effect of meso-structure heterogeneity in material on the mechanical behavior of rock is studied in this paper,using Discrete Element Method and Weibull distribution *** triaxial compressive tests are *** meso-structure distributions are *** is shown by numerical tests that the different internal meso-structure distribution can have considerable effects on the compressive strength,crack initiation stress and stress-strain relationship,and other *** micromechanical behavior of rock samples is affected by the distribution of internal meso-structure parameters as *** deformation and failure of rock is simulated by tracing the extension of the microscopic cracks and the micromechanical *** demonstrate that the meso-structure heterogeneity have considerable effects on the mechanical behavior of rock.

Mechanical characteristics and energy properties of granite under uniaxial compression after high temperature have been *** results show that energy conversion during rock deformation and failure is a dynamic process,and it can be mainly divided into four subprocesses:energy input,energy accumulation, energy dissipation and energy *** damage defined by elastic modulus increases generally but has volatility,which can be fitted into cubic *** strength shows inverse ratio to dissipated energy and proportional ratio to elastic energy,energy dissipation makes the material deteriorate and its strength drop down *** emission energy rate shows proportional ratio to elastic energy and inverse ratio to dissipated energy,the elastic energy released in rock volume plays the pivotal role of abrupt structural failure of *** is emphasized that the failure of rock is a process in which energy dissipation and energy release occur simultaneously.

The stability of a large underground powerhouse in the Himalayas has been *** underground powerhouse cavern constitutes a major component of a Hydro Electric Project in *** has experienced a number of instabilities during and after *** 5 percent of the bolts in the powerhouse are reported to have failed and the walls of the cavern are continuing to converge,albeit at a slow rate since its completion in *** are underway to stabilize this important underground *** cavern is located in the complex geological conditions of the Himalayas and close to a high stress thrust zone known as the Main Central Thrust(MCT).This paper evaluates the stability of the powerhouse and discusses measures to strengthen the *** finite and distinct element analysis are performed to better understand the behavior of the rock mass surrounding the *** results from numerical simulations showing convergences in the walls of the cavern are in fair agreement to those observed at the *** energy-absorbent support system is recommended for the rehabilitation of the side walls of the cavern.
