Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a common neurodevelopmental disorder marked by social interaction difficulties and repetitive, stereotyped behaviors. Previous studies have shown that facial expression recognition has been successfully applied to ASD classification. However, they typically designed a specific framework to explore predefined facial patterns in video data, which usually ignore subtle but potentially vital information embedded in facial movements. To address this limitation and fully leverage the richness of facial data, we design the facial instance learning (FIL) network, a video classification network based on weakly supervised learning. Firstly, the FIL network leverages multi-instance learning to efficiently analyze video sequences without relying on frame-by-frame annotations. Secondly, we employ the R3D18 backbone network to capture both short-term facial dynamics and spatial details of video sequences. Finally, we design the spatiotemporal aggregation module to learn long-term temporal relationships and spatial features. The experiments on the DERW dataset show that the performance of the FIL network is competitive in dynamic facial expression recognition and shows a surprising effect on ASD diagnosis, achieving the accuracy of 98.72%. © 2024 IEEE.

a compact MIMO antenna is designed to work at 28GHz and used for 5G applications. In this paper, different isolation techniques were designed and simulated to reduce the effect of the mutual such as coupling defected ground structure (DGS), slab parasitic element place on the top of the substrate between the radiating elements and electromagnetic bandgap structure (EBGs) that works as stop band filter to null out the effect of surface waves. The antenna is physically compacted to small dimensions of 10.235x 9.0187x1.149 mm3. In this paper the concentration is mainly about the performance of decoupling techniques to remove the effect of mutual coupling (MC) for closer radiating antenna elements, where they exhibit about 5dB as a minimum difference between the evaluation of mutual coupling without and with the use of suppression decoupling techniques. The MC is reduced from 13dB to 18 dB and 20 dB. In this paper the envelop correlation coefficient (ECC), Diversity gain (DG) are also evaluated and results in less than 10-5 for ECC, and 10 for DG, which are more suitable for the design. © 2024 IEEE.

The efficiency of computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools is directly associated with the machine's ball screw feed system (BSFS). The electromechanical coupling effect of the mechanical structure and the servo system affects the system's performance. The present study reported a mathematical model for explaining the electromechanical coupling effect by mathematically associating the servo system and the mechanical structure using MATLAB/Simulink. By adding a sinusoidal signal as an input signal in MATLAB/Simulink, the acceleration signals of BSFS were obtained by adjusting the frequency of the input signal. The electromechanical coupling model is verified by simulation and experiments. The simulation results showed that the frequency and amplitude are directly related. No significant difference was noticed between the generated 'peak' frequency and the input signal frequency. It is shown that the errors between experimental results and theoretical ones are 16.8% and 2%, respectively, which is acceptable and verifies this established electromechanical coupling model. © 2023 IEEE.

Facial expression recognition remains a prominent research area in computer vision, particularly due to its significant contributions in the field of human emotion analysis. However, the effectiveness of current deep learning approaches in representing facial expressions faces considerable hurdles stemming from ambiguities in dataset annotations, which notably impact recognition accuracy. In response, this paper introduces a multi-task facial expression recognition network (MTFERN) that integrates Adaptive Feature Fusion Module (AFFM) and Distribution Consistent Attention Pooling Module (DCAPM). The purpose of these modules is to tackle the difficulties caused by annotation ambiguities through the inclusion of auxiliary branches. These branches analyze the distribution of labels within samples and compute attention weights accordingly, enhancing the network's ability to discern subtle variations in facial expressions. Experimental evaluations conducted on benchmark datasets such as FER2013 and AffectNet show that our approach achieves state-of-the-art performance, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed expression recognition algorithm. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper discusses the usage of time series analysis for the early detection of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). A time series approach was used to expand a set of rules that may detect the early stages of ALS via analyzing symptomatic changes in signs and symptoms consisting of muscle energy, taking walks potential, speech, swallowing, and different bodily motion. This technique become examined on a retrospective dataset, and proven if you want to come across changes in the circumstance of ALS in a well-timed way. The outcomes suggest that this technique has ability as a tool for early detection in ALS sufferers. This research paper is about some of the electrical engineering topics that are widely misunderstood among recent graduates despite the fact they are simple and well established scientifically. The misunderstanding is discovered through the responses collected via a survey distributed among engineers who identify themselves as either senior student or recent graduate with background in electrical, electronic, or computer engineering, including engineering technology disciplines. The electrical topics that were discussed in this paper are: 1) grounding, 2) RMS quantities, 3) circuit analysis, and 4) the difference between science and engineering. These topics are clearly well-defined and articulated among scientific communities whereas many recent graduates and engineering students failed to explain them correctly and/or in detail. It seems that either engineering education is not delivering the aforementioned topics as they should be delivered or educators overlook them. In this paper, the concept of the aforementioned topics are presented and how textbooks, curricula, and instructor notes are presenting them. Despite the fact that some of the responses to technical questions were correct, amazingly, none of the participants provided a satisfactory distinction between engineering and science - which is a fundamental question. Such observations deserve attention from engineering colleges and educational institutions. © 2024 IEEE.

The technologies that are a part of the Internet of Things enable smart buildings to use energy more efficiently. The main focus of the research is on the use of internet-connected sensors and devices. Real-time monitoring, analysis, and management of energy consumption are the goals of this. Data is gathered from various sources, such as appliances, lighting, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), and other systems, employing networked systems. This offers the chance for a more effective distribution of energy. The goal of the project is to foresee energy patterns and automatically adjust settings by focussing on the integration of cloud computing, big data analytics, and machine learning algorithms. Furthermore, it highlights how the Internet of Things can help cut down on energy waste and improve sustainability by giving consumers advice and information on how to use less energy. Providing consumers with insights and recommendations helps achieve this. By promoting the adoption of more ecologically friendly energy practices, the implementation of these technologies not only reduces operating costs but also decreases the environmental impact that buildings have. The study's conclusions indicate that the field of smart buildings has advanced significantly, which may help to promote sustainability and higher energy efficiency. © 2024 IEEE.

Recently, there has been a rise in interest in robotic process automation. However, the majority of the currently available literature focuses on the theoretical underpinnings of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) or analyses of the business results after RPA adoption in certain industries, including outsourcing and banking. By undertaking a rigorous mapping research to analyse the present state-of-the-art in RPA, identify gaps, and give ideas from both scientific and industry perspectives, this work seeks to close this gap. We examine 54 main papers that explicitly present the status of RPA in-depth in the first section of our research. In the course of doing the systematic review, these main studies were carefully chosen. We then evaluate 14 significant commercial RPA technologies, drawing on Forrester's RPA analysis. This evaluation is based on a thorough categorization system with 48 functions, and we analyse how well each tool addresses each functionality. The study's conclusions show that a number of RPA lifecycle stages have been successfully covered by products already on the market. The Analysis phase, however, has a sizable gap that is only partially filled by most RP A technologies. The lack of technology tools to find and choose the best candidate processes inside an organisation for automation best describes this gap. With solutions available at different stages of the RPA lifecycle, this systematic mapping research highlights the present state of RPA. But it also highlights how urgently RPA's Analysis phase needs improvements, notably in the creation of methods and tools for locating and prioritising operations that can be automated. The paper's conclusion outlines possible future possibilities and RPA's problems. © 2024 IEEE.

We humans have the ability to follow others' gaze and estimate their gaze targets, which is called gaze following. In social communication, we are constantly doing gaze following to gain more information. With the development of society, gaze following has gained more significant applications, such as offline retail and assistive healthcare. To automate the process of gaze following, people hope that computers can also acquire this ability. However, there are relatively few relevant studies in the field of computer vision, and many studies have failed to focus on image features that are helpful for gaze following. In this paper, we propose a gaze following method based on attention mechanism, which enables the gaze direction estimation network to focus on more effective spatial features and the saliency estimation network to focus on more effective channel features. By concatenating the two networks, we ultimately obtain the predicted heatmap of the gaze point. The experimental results show that our method can effectively improve the performance of gaze following. © 2023 IEEE.

In existing hand gesture recognition research, single-modal recognition is commonly used. For example, visual hand gesture recognition uses image information, but it is easily affected by the shooting environment. Another example is using surface electromyography (sEMG) for recognition, but it is susceptible to signal noise. To address the above issues, this paper focuses on the fusion of sEMG and vision of the human hand. We propose a novel approach that fuses the two modalities by using convolutional neural networks (CNN) to improve recognition accuracy. Firstly, using an RGB camera and sEMG armband, we jointly collect sEMG signal and skeleton in real-time, creating our own multimodal dataset for training. Secondly, we design a multimodal recognition network with feature fusion of sEMG and skeleton, to achieve an increase in accuracy. Finally, we built a human-computer interaction system that realizes hand gestures to manipulate a dexterous hand and a robot arm. Experimental results demonstrate that the fusion of the two modalities has complementary effects and effectively improves recognition accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.
