The synthesis of technology and the medical industry has partly contributed to the increasing interest in Medical Cyber-Physical systems (MCPS). While these systems provide benefits to patients and professionals, they also introduce new attack vectors for malicious actors (e.g. financially- and/or criminally-motivated actors). A successful breach involving a MCPS can impact patient data and system availability. The complexity and operating requirements of a MCPS complicates digital investigations. Coupling this information with the potentially vast amounts of information that a MCPS produces and/or has access to is generating discussions on, not only, how to compromise these systems but, more importantly, how to investigate these systems. The paper proposes the integration of forensics principles and concepts into the design and development of a MCPS to strengthen an organization's investigative posture. The framework sets the foundation for future research in the refinement of specific solutions for MCPS investigations.

With the proliferation of mobile devices and the adoption of mobile applications in most daily-life activities, it is necessary for mobile-application construction to become more efficient and systematic and less costly. In this paper, we describe a code-generation environment, namely WL++, for mobile applications accessing Restful back-ends. Our framework (a) extracts the data models of the to-be-generated application from the back-end APIs or from existing resource schemas, (b) enables developers to extend the application model and annotate it with information regarding the application's user-interaction behavior through a graphical editor, and (c) transforms it into a mobile application, through a template-refinement process, that can be deployed on a variety of platforms.

mobile apps are becoming complex software systems that must be developed quickly and evolve continuously to fit new user requirements and execution contexts. However, addressing these constraints may result in poor design choices, known as antipatterns, which may incidentally degrade software quality and performance. Thus, the automatic detection of antipatterns is an important activity that eases both maintenance and evolution tasks. Moreover, it guides developers to refactor their applications and thus, to improve their quality. While antipatterns are well-known in object-oriented applications, their study in mobile applications is still in their infancy. In this paper, we propose a tooled approach, called Paprika, to analyze Android applications and to detect object-oriented and Android-specific antipatterns from binaries of mobile apps. We validate the effectiveness of our approach on a set of popular mobile apps downloaded from the Google Play Store.

mobile App development arises new dynamism for both device platform and device equipment. New solution projects and solution maintenance sustainability is at risk due to this variability. Some entry-level and build-by-template solutions are emerging. This experience demonstrates the solution we found when working together with market leaders in cultural-heritage video-guide: new digital editorial artifacts. We used an open-source CMS system to manage different type of contents and to generate complete software package for various mobile platforms. The client-side App is based on Phone Gap/Cordova framework and java script frameworks selection and optimization. This system completely covers digital mobile publishing product life-cycle from digital asset management to App (web or mobile) deploy or updates management systems, including in-App purchase content and incremental update.

The 3cixty platform supports the development of (mobile or Web-based) applications that exploit a comprehensive urban knowledge base in innovative ways, offering a "360-degree view" of a city. We demonstrate an application, called Explor MI 360, that makes use of the services offered by this platform and allows users to plan and conduct city visits in an innovative way.

The need for increased performance of mobile device directly conflicts with the desire for longer battery life. Offloading computation to resourceful servers is an effective method to reduce energy consumption and enhance performance for mobile applications. Android provides mechanisms for creating mobile applications but lacks a native scheduling system for determining where code should be executed. This paper presents Jade, a system that adds sophisticated energy-aware computation offloading capabilities to Android applications. Jade monitors device and application status and automatically decides where code should be executed. Jade dynamically adjusts offloading strategy by adapting to workload variation, communication costs, and device status.

Nowadays, contact less payment solutions with credit cards based on a mobile phone have significant advantages in transaction speed and users' convenience. Especially, for merchants, a smartphone can be one of an acceptance payment solutions because it is easy for them to use with little additional price if they could use their own smartphone as it is. However, there are still many concerns on using NFC-enabled smartphone as a mobile POS, e.g. security concerns. In this paper, we proposed new security enhancement methods for the mobile POS system with a new S/W layers based on pre-existing H/W. As a result, we could see the possibility of building a mobile POS system based on existing mobile phones with proposed methods.

This article addresses the issue of SMS-messages protection from unauthorized access and malicious software. The intruder model's structure and main security threats are presented. The authors tell about the requirements for protective systems of this kind, examine the main threats to the security of information and describe the system development tools such as protecting messages using the RSA algorithm, using ELGamal algorithm and using an algorithm based on elliptic curves. The performance results and effectiveness of the proposed ideas are provided. The implementation can be performed directly on mobile subscribers in the form of a software product, or as additional functional software of a virtual operator. © 2015 acm.

The introduction of numerous new, web-enabled devices is leading to a change in the mindset in the design of web systems. Increasingly often, they are designed to take into account the special characteristics of different devices. In terms of implementation, designing these responsive web services requires frameworks and guidelines for user interface design for both desktop and mobile devices. In this paper we present a case study which was done during the implementation of open data. Fi service. During the project responsive mobile user interfaces were implemented to existing open source software with preserving as much of the original layouts as possible. We provide some insights to tools and libraries used in building the responsive user interfaces and share some of the findings that work well in customizing existing software. We also provide examples of solutions that wont work so well and look how to solve them properly.
