Indoor mobile navigation systems are becoming more widespread in many areas (transport, public institutions, logistics and others.). It is becoming popular navigation based on fingerprint radio access points Wi-Fi. As a mechanism for storing and processing the radio fingerprint is often considered a model of artificial neural networks (ANN). The paper examines the main issues related to the creation of complex programs for indoor mobile navigation using neural networks. We justify the choice of AAN learning algorithms for an indoor mobile navigation system. © 2015 acm.

The Internet of things (IoT) is the new technology trend that is grouping physical objects with different kinds of software and hardware technologies. IoT has been applied in several domains, such as logistics, supply chain, and others, to achieve business value through a communication channel and to work more efficiently. The art of testing these integrated technologies and the need for increasing the level of quality is a crucial challenge. Since IoT Testing is a significant topic nowadays, the main purpose of this research paper is to present two major contributions. First, it promotes an Automation Testing and Monitoring Lab (ATML) on the cloud to test and monitor IoT systems on all related levels, using different testing automation tools and types with a sample of practical test scenarios. second, it prepares a prototype for IoT Smart Fleet systems (SFS) to help c-commerce companies manage fleet operations effectively. This study could be useful and applicable for information technology enterprises and E-Commerce companies.

The quality of a mobile application is a major concern for developers, users and application stores. Even though several mobile-specific techniques have been proposed to evaluate the quality of a mobile software product, there is little evidence about their applicability as an efficient way to forecast a potential success of a mobile software product in a real app store. In this paper, we investigated the contribution of the code quality in the market success of Android apps in the Google Play store. We retrieved the source code of 100 Open Source mobile apps, we calculated a set of product metrics, and we obtained several market indicators from an application store. Utilizing statistical methods we determined whether there is a relationship between product quality and market success. The results obtained shown consistently that the quality of the source code has a marginal impact into the indices that describe the market success, suggesting that the real drivers of customer satisfaction and market penetration in the mobile app business go beyond purely source-oriented quality attributes.

The analysis of software architecture plays an important role in understanding the system structures and facilitate proper implementation of user requirements. Despite its importance in the software engineering practice, the lack of formal description and verification support in this domain hinders the development of quality architectural models. To tackle this problem, in this work, we develop an approach for modeling and verifying software architectures specified using Monterey Phoenix (MP) architecture description language. MP is capable of modeling system and environment behaviors based on event traces, as well as supporting different architecture composition operations and views. First, we formalize the syntax and operational semantics for MP;therefore, formal verification of MP models is feasible. second, we extend MP to support shared variables and stochastic characteristics, which not only increases the expressiveness of MP, but also widens the properties MP can check, such as quantitative requirements. Third, a dedicated model checker for MP has been implemented, so that automatic verification of MP models is supported. Finally, several experiments are conducted to evaluate the applicability and efficiency of our approach.

The more complex a software system is and the longer a software system evolves, the more dificult it is to avoid effects like software architecture erosion or architectural drifts. These effects can lead to systems where the realization of the system diverges from the intended architecture with resultant negative impacts on quality attributes associated with the intended architecture. As studies have shown, untreated divergence can lead to systems which are impossible to maintain in the long run. Expensive redevelopments and replacements are the consequences. In recent years, researchers from different communities like software maintenance, model-driven development, and software architecture have investigated many aspects of software architecture erosion from different perspectives. The goal of the "second Workshop on software Architecture Erosion and Architectural Consistency (SAEroCon)" is to intensify the exchange of ideas regarding the current stateof-the-Art/the state-of-The-practice and future research directions regarding architecture consistency, architecture recovery and restoration and ways to prevent and mitigate against architecture erosion. The workshop targets all software engineering researchers and practitioners interested in discussing ideas regarding these topics and shaping future research related to them. © 2015 acm.

Creative user of mobile health information (mHealth) has the potential to reduce the cost of healthcare and improve health research and outcomes. The objective of this study is to provide a systematic analysis method of selecting the best app through assessment of the user's needs. Specifically, we explain the method through applying it to dysmenorrhea, as this is the most common menstrual complaint among women. To systematically select the best app for dysmenorrhea, we recommend following 8 stages, as follows: generate ideas about dysmenorrhea and apps through brainstorming and mind maps, develop personas and scenarios for women who experience dysmenorrhea using mobile apps, derive a list of requirements, search for existing apps, analyze whether these apps reflects the derived requirements, select the top 5 apps, have these top apps evaluated by app development experts and clinical experts, and conduct focus group interviews with women in their 20s and 30s who experience dysmenorrhea. Although the mechanisms of the mHealth app for dysmenorrhea have not yet been clearly defined, this study nevertheless is believed to provide guidance to researchers seeking to help consumers using apps. In the future, randomized controlled trials are required in order to determine the effectiveness of this methodology for clinical professionals.

mobile operating systems provide a layer with which users exclusively interact. Despite the simplicity of the Graphical User Interface (GUI), the underlying architecture exhibits a high level of complexity, opening attack vectors for adversaries and necessitating security precautions comparable to desktop stations. Developers are aware of the extensive threat potential that small form-factor devices represent and safeguards are deployed to counter the emergence of malicious mobile software. This article details security architecture and proceeds and provides to an overview of the Android and iOS (IOUS) mobile operating systems from a security standpoint, selected on the basis of their opposing approaches to openness and any third-party customizations that users are allowed to perform. The first part provides a brief overview of both systems' system architectures, while the second part presents notable security and reverse engineering milestones. The third part provides recommendations on the safer use of mobile devices, which are extensively discussed. We argue that by practicing proper security hygiene, both existing and novel threats can be mitigated at the user level.

The popularity of smartphones is leading to an ever growing number of mobile apps that are published in official app stores. However, users might experience bugs and crashes for some of these apps. In this paper, we perform an empirical study of the official Google Play Store to automatically mine for such error-suspicious apps. We use the knowledge inferred from this analysis to build a recommender system of buggy app checkers. More specifically, we analyze the permissions and the user reviews of 46, 644 apps to identify potential correlations between error-sensitive permissions and error-related reviews along time. This study reveals error-sensitive permissions and patterns that potentially induce the errors reported online by users. As a result, our systems give app store moderators efficient static checkers to predict buggy apps before they harm the reputation of the app store as a whole.

The idea we want to advocate is the rapid prototyping of mobile multi-platform applications in the form of vanilla spreadsheets based on spreadsheet formulas, data validation and conditional formatting for tasks like entering and validating data, computing results and generating reports. Spreadsheet software systems, available on all major desktop and mobile platforms, provide runtime environment for such spreadsheet applications without the need for any plugins. Apart from playing the role of a virtual machine, the environment provides also the user interface. Therefore such a spreadsheet becomes instantly a multi-platform application, working both on-line and off-line. We report on our case study of creating a mobile tool for archaeologists working in the field: a specialized spreadsheet for managing stratigraphic information. The resulting application passed satisfactorily a test of six weeks of regular excavations. Techniques used in the development can be considered as the first good practices for developing spreadsheet mobile applications.

This paper discusses how the combination of model-driven development approaches and business process management (BPM) techniques and tools can be fruitfully applied to personal and social task management, in a consumer scenario where people are provided with user-friendly mobile applications that hide the complexity of modeling behind extremely simple interfaces and interaction paradigms. The main challenge addressed is related to finding the appropriate level of complexity to be exposed to the user, because the expressive power should be complete enough for describing basic processes but also simple enough to let people understand, accept and use them in their everyday life. This is then combined with social networking and content sharing capability. Once this simplification paradigm is devised, the findings can be transferred back to the business users too. The results of the work are implemented in a commercial mobile application called Fluxedo.
