This work presents a model-based approach for the detection, estimation and accommodation of control actuator faults in dynamic processes controlled using multi-rate sampled state measurements. Initially, a model-based state feedback controller that employs an inter-sample model predictor to compensate for the unavailability of continuous state measurements is designed. Characterizations of both the stability and performance properties of the multi-rate sampled-data closed-loop system are obtained and expressed in terms of the measurement sampling rates, the magnitudes of the faults, and the various predictor and controller design parameters. A parameter estimator that estimates the magnitudes of the faults by minimizing the error between the estimated and sampled states over a moving horizon is then introduced and used to determine the fault or health status of the control actuators at the sampling times. The identification of faults triggers a fault accommodation scheme that adjusts selected predictor and controller design parameters to simultaneously preserve closed-loop stability and optimize a pre-defined performance metric. The implementation of the developed approach is illustrated using a simulated model of a solid oxide fuel cell system subject to both stability and performance-degrading actuator faults. A discussion of some of the intricacies of the multi-rate sampling scheme and how they impact the practical implementation of the fault identification and accommodation schemes is presented. The paper proposes the tuning of a two-degree-of-freedom (2-DoF) fractional-order PI (FOPI2) controller based on the Model Reference Robust Tuning (MoReRT) methodology presented by Alfaro and Vilanova (2012, 2016). The tuning rules are optimized for a first order plus dead time (FOPDT) model and for an over-damped servo and regulatory closed-loop target responses. Moreover, the design takes into account a robustness consideration, expressed as a maximum sensitivity target value of 2.0, dealing with the performance/robustness trade-off of the closed-loop control system. A set of controller tuning equations (four parameters) is provided for FOPDT models with normalized dead-times from 0.1 to 2.0. Also, an evaluation of the control system performance and robustness is presented, in order to show the effectiveness of the proposed tuning method, that is compared with other tuning rules. Drug regulatory paradigms are dependent on the hemodynamic system as it serves to distribute and clear the drug in/from the body. While focusing on the objective of the drug paradigm at hand, it is important to maintain stable hemodynamic variables. In this work, a biomedical application requiring robust control properties has been used to illustrate the potential of an autotuning method, referred to as the fractional order robust autotuner. The method is an extension of a previously presented autotuning principle and produces controllers which are robust to system gain variations. The feature of automatic tuning of controller parameters can be of great use for data-driven adaptation during intra-patient variability conditions. Fractional order PI/PD controllers are generalizations of the well-known PI/PD controllers that exhibit an extra parameter usually used to enhance the robustness of the closed loop system. Steelmaking - continuous casting production scheduling is an important part of steelmaking production system. A scientific and reasonable steelmaking - continuous casting production scheduling is the key to improve the production efficiency of the steelmaking - continuous casting production system. In this paper, with the shortest total charge waiting time and the castings that are processed on time as the optimization goal, with the charges that are casted continuous within same casting and machine capacity constraints and so on as the constraints to established a mixed integer programming mathematical model. The augmented Lagrangian relaxation algorithm is used to solved the scheduling problem. The diagonal quadratic approximation method is used to linearize quadratic term so that it can be transformed into a problem to be solved with separable structure. Experiments show that the algorithm proposed has the advantages of fast convergence and short solution time for solving the steel-continuous casting scheduling problem compared to the traditional Lagrange algorithm, and the superiority is more obvious when the scale of the problem is increased. The steelmaking-continuous casting batch planning plays an important role in the relationship between the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) layer and the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) layer. The charge batch planning is one of the important links in the steelmaking-continuous casting batch planning. Efficient optimization of charge batch planning can reduce energy consumption and improve the profit of the enterprise. As the production scale of iron and steel enterprises increases, the number of orders increases exponentially, and the optimization goal becomes more and more complicated, which makes it difficult to ensure the optimization efficiency while ensuring the quality of optimization results. Aiming at this problem, this paper proposes a multi-performance index mixed integer programming model considering actual production, and solves it based on the order decomposition strategy under the linearized Augmented Lagrangian framework. Finally, experiments show that the proposed algorithm can effectively improve the compilation efficiency and quality of the charge batch planning compared with the traditional Lagrangian Relaxation algorithm. Several risk management strategies are integrated into today's intelligent vehicles to guarantee safety. To be efficient, these strategies must handle the uncertainty propagation into the navigation process. For a more reliable risk management, this work presents a novel set-membership over-approximation of the Time-To-Collision (TTC), which fits a vehicle following scenario. The interval analysis is used to consider different uncertainty sources with respects to surrounding measurement conditions. For optimization aims, statistical properties of the measurements, which are based on the correlation evolution, are employed to avoid conservative results. It is assumed that the vehicle dynamics and correspondingly the correlation between measurements cannot drastically change in a short time horizon. Accordingly, the amount of uncertainty assigned to each measurement, evaluated per interval, is decreased. This fact prohibits irregularities in the correlation relating variables. The proposed risk management approach is integrated into the architecture of an Adaptive Cruise control (ACC). The suction and discharge valves are the key hydraulic and wearing components in the reciprocating waterflooding pump, which have a significant influence on the operation stability and efficiency of pump. To investigate the valves' dynamic working in the working processes, the numerical simulation of reciprocating waterflooding pump was carried out by Computational Fluid dynamics (CFD) method. Based on the force characteristic on the valve plate, User Defined function and dynamic grid were adopted to define and update the valves' dynamic parameters with the reciprocating motion of piston. The effects of spring stiffness coefficient and lift limit height on the transient motions of valves were investigated for the reciprocating waterflooding pump. The results show that the suction and discharge valves open or close in a short period. However, their motions lag behind the stroke when the piston reaches the left or right end point, especially for the discharge valve, which will lead to the larger impact effect and flow loss. Under various working parameters, the striking velocity on the lift limiter or seat is not always equal to the maximum velocity, and the valve plate is easily to vibrate in the suction process due to the pressure fluctuation and flow instability. The valve lifts, characteristic velocities and lag angles change in different ways with these three parameters, and the lag heights of discharge valve could exceed 3 times those of suction valve. The simulation results would provide a theoretical basis for the design of high-efficiency oilfield waterflooding pump.

Device-to-device communications underlaying cellular networks have been recognized as one of the key technologies for the fifth generation (5G) cellular system to improve the spectrum efficiency and system capacity. In this paper, we investigate the potential of deep reinforcement learning (DRL) for joint subcarrier assignment and power allocation in a general form of D2D networks, where a subcarrier can be assigned to multiple D2D pairs and each D2D pair is permitted to utilize multiple subcarriers. We first formulate the above problem as a Markov decision process, and then propose a double deep Q-network (DQN)-based subcarrier-power allocation algorithm to learn the optimal policy in the absence of full instantaneous channel state information (CSI). Specifically, each D2D pair acts as a learning agent that adjusts its own subcarrier-power allocation strategy iteratively through interactions with the operating environment in a trial-and-error fashion. Simulation results confirm that the proposed algorithm achieves near optimal performance in real time. It is worth mentioning that the proposed algorithm is especially suitable for the case where the environmental dynamics is not accurate and the CSI delay cannot be ignored.

The paper presents three design methods for the position control of a mechatronics application characterized by rigid body dynamics and a discontinuously variable parameter (inertia). The techniques are useful because the control structure with state feedback does not assure reduced settling times, phase margins of 60 degrees (or smaller) and a zero steady-state control error. The Modulus Optimum method (MO-m) is applied to initially tune the parameters of the continous-time controllers and the backwards difference method is used for discretizing these parameters. A set of digital and experimental results for the position control systems using the proposed and developed control solutions validate the suggested techniques. A comparative analysis of the three proposed control structures is also given in order to highlight how the specified control system performance was achieved.
