In this study, we aimed to determine whether the medical image belongs to that class or not, using the textural features of medical images. The study was performed on the images in IRMA (image Retrieval in Medical applications), the international database. After performing pre process on the our current medical images, discrete wavelet transform (DWT) was applied and then discrete cosine transform (DCT) was applied to each band components. After feature extraction, using of 1%, 3%, 5% and 7% of the obtained data were classified. K-Nearest neighbor algorithm (KNN) was used in the classification phase. The classification performance was around 87%.

Acrylamide is a toxic carcinogenic material that commonly occurs in heated starchy food items like potato crisps. Identification of such toxic chemical in food items using conventional chemical laboratory based methods is time consuming and expensive and may need specialized manpower for such laboratory testing. This paper proposes an efficient imageprocessing based non-destructive testing method for identification of acrylamide in potato crisps. The image of the potato crisps is automatically segmented and features are extracted from the images in wavelet domain. These features are then analyzed for identification of the presence of acrylamide in these samples. The variation in the various features of the image is related to the presence of acrylamide. The experimental results indicate that the proposed method is efficient for identification of acrylamide from the wavelet features of the images. The proposed method achieves 90% of accuracy and it can be used for real time applications.

Nowadays the owner's face or sound is also embedded as biometric watermark. image is transferred to discrete wavelet transform domain, watermark is embedded to DWT values, then DWT values are retransformed to spatial domain to obtain watermarked image. Embedding a vector image logo as watermark was not tried in previous works. In this work, non-blind robust watermarking is applied using a vector image as watermark. Various attacks are applied to watermarked images and for each of these attacks vector image watermark is obtained equal or almost equal to the original. Embedding vector image as watermark will bring a new discipline for image watermarking and a new development will arise in this perspective.

This paper proposes a high-speed VLSI architecture for implementing a forward twodimensional discrete wavelet transform(2D DWT) for real time application. The prototype architecture is coded in Verilog HDL, simulated using Quartus-II. Based on this prototype architecture, the low-power adder IP, which is designed based on a full-custom design methodology, play a role in replacing the adders in the RTL code. It can reduce power consumption by 18 %. It can be used as a pre-processing IP core in the wavelet-based scalable image compression for the industrial applications.

A biometric system provides automatic identification of an individual based on a unique feature or characteristic possessed by the individual. Today, fingerprint has a wide field of use in several areas of biometric system. It is especially used in human identification and verification, which is more reliable than the traditional methods used for access. In this work, Gabor wavelet Transform based fingerprint recognition system has been realized. The wavelet features are extracted from the gray-scale fingerprint image. Finally, the k nearest neighbor classifier is used for the recognition of fingerprint images. The proposed algorithm is tested on images from PolyU high resolution fingerprint database. Experimental results have shown that the proposed method can improve the accuracy of existing methods.

Iris recognition system for identity authentication and verification is one of the most precise and accepted biometrics in the world. Portable iris system mostly used in law enforcement applications, has been increasing more rapidly. The portable device, however, requires a narrow-bandwidth communication channel to transmit iris code or iris image. Though a full resolution of iris image is preferred for accurate recognition of individual, to minimize time in a narrow-bandwidth channel for emergency identification, image compression should be used to minimize the size of image. This paper has investigated the effects of compression particularly for iris image based on wavelet transformed image, using Spatial-orientation tree wavelet (STW), Embedded Zero tree wavelet (EZW) and Set Partitioning in hierarchical trees (SPIHT), to identify the most suitable image compression. In this paper, Haar wavelet transform is utilized for image compression and image decomposition, by varying the decomposition level. The results have been examined in terms of Peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR), Mean square Error (MSE), Bit per Pixel Ratio (BPP) and Compression ratio (CR). It has been evidently found that wavelet transform is more effective in the image compression, as recognition performance is minimally affected and the use of Haar transform is ideally suited. Texture is low-level image features. Today, texture analysis is applied to different fields such as ultrasound images recognition, document classification, classification of radar imagery, texture-based image retrieval. Texture analysis and classification is an important issue. Comparison of texture analysis and classification was characterized by the lack of adequate methods. wavelet decomposition method is superior to other conventional methods. In this study, Discrete wavelet Transform (DWT) - Adaptive Network Based Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) were used for acquisition and recognition invariant properties of tissue-type image. 22 texture images were taken from Brodatz database for the analysis of tissue-type image. 50 randomly 64 × 64 regions are selected from each of 22 images. Testing Success with the average rate of 91.27% was obtained by using DWT-ANFIS method.

Fuzzy Logic is a system that nearly represents human activities of thinking and linguistics. Fuzzy logic is very useful in handling uncertainty and is used in various other applications. In this paper, fuzzy logic is used to handle wavelet transformed image statistics which is embedded with Gaussian noise spread variably across the image. Adaptive Multilevel Soft Thresholding of the noisy image was done, which removed noise from almost all types of images. We also display that Fuzzy Logic System (FLS) attains good efficiency. The remodelling of wavelet coefficient proved effective a contemporary in image denoising horizon.
