Toraja is a part of Indonesia located on the island of Sulawesi. One form of Toraja culture is carving art made from wood, bamboo or stone. There are around 70 types of Toraja carving motifs. With so many motifs and some motifs being almost similar to each other, it can make it difficult for the public and tourists to know the name of the motif. This research focuses on classifying Toraja carving images using Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and measuring the performance of the LeN et-5 architecture. The number of Toraja carving motifs used in this research is 7 and the data is 700, where each motif is represented by 100 data. In testing, 3 explorations were carried out, namely dividing training and validation data, Batch Size values, and Target Size values. Based on test results, the 70:30 data division provides the highest level of accuracy compared to other data divisions. Increasing the Batch Size value has a negative impact on the level of accuracy. On the other hand, increasing the Target Size value has a positive impact on the accuracy value. The best Batch Size and Target Size values in this study were 32 and 256x256 with respective accuracies of 50.67% and 69.33%.

Implicit Neural Representations (INRs) encode discrete signals in a continuous manner using neural networks, demonstrating significant value across various multimedia applications. However, the vulnerability of INRs presents a critical challenge for their real-world deployments, as the network weights might be subjected to unavoidable perturbations. In this work, we investigate the robustness of INRs for the first time and find that even minor perturbations can lead to substantial performance degradation in the quality of signal reconstruction. To mitigate this issue, we formulate the robustness problem in INRs by minimizing the difference between loss with and without weight perturbations. Furthermore, we derive a novel robust loss function to regulate the gradient of the reconstruction loss with respect to weights, thereby enhancing the robustness. Extensive experiments on reconstruction tasks across multiple modalities demonstrate that our method achieves up to a 7.5 dB improvement in peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) values compared to original INRs under noisy conditions.

The accurate classification of fresh fruit bunch ripeness is crucial for optimizing oil quality and yield in the palm oil industry. Traditional manual inspection methods are labor-intensive, subjective, and prone to errors, motivating the exploration of automated solutions. This paper examined the potential of vision language models, including LLaVA 1.5, Yi-VL, and PaliGemma, to automate and enhance FFB ripeness assessment. The models were evaluated on their ability to classify ripeness stages and the accuracy of generated descriptive text using metrics like BLEU and ROUGE scores. Yi- VL achieved the highest descriptive accuracy with a ROUGE-L score of 93.14. However, it processes 0.18 samples per second, which is slower than PaliGemma (0.53 samples/second). PaliGemma is 194.44% more efficient in samples/second than Yi- VL, making it better suited for real-time applications despite its lower accuracy (ROUGE-L: 26.15). LLa VA 1.5 offers a balance between accuracy (ROUGE-L: 82.16) and efficiency (0.22 samples/second). This research highlighted the trade-offs between different VLMs for FFB ripeness assessment, demonstrating their potential to revolutionize the agriculture industry. Future work may focus on optimizing model performance and deploying these technologies in real-world scenarios.

In 2020, the world witnessed a new and severe global health crisis: the outbreak of Covid-19 and the number of positive cases and deaths around the world rose at a frightening rate throughout 2021. Given its highly contagious, convenient and efficient detection means are significant. At present, RT-PCR testing is the common diagnostic method for COVID-19 cases, but the process is time-consuming and inefficient. The recent COVID-19 radiology literature has focused on CT imaging because of its higher sensitivity, but it leads to high costs compared to x-ray imaging. Nowadays, many AI applications are focused on quantification and identification of infections to fully automate diagnoses to assist medical experts. Therefore, we compared seven classic network models including ResNet50, VGG16, VGG19, InceptionV3, InceptionResNetV2, MobileNetV1, DenseNet169 by the diversity measure. DenseNet169 performed pretty well with an accuracy of 97.5% on the training set and 96.58% on the test set. After comparing the results of different model fusion methods, stacking these models by four folds and selecting the tree classifier as second layer models outweighed other methods which reach 100% on the test set, which is helpful in the diagnosis of COVID19. © 2022 IEEE.

Security plays a major role in data transmission and reception. Providing high security is indispensable in communication systems. The RSA (Rivest-Shamir-Adleman) cryptosystem is used widely in cryptographic applications as it offers highly secured transmission. RSA cryptosystem uses Montgomery multipliers and it involves modular exponentiation process which is attained by performing repeated modular-multiplications. This leads to high latency and owing to improve the speed of multiplier, highly efficient modular multiplication methodology needs to be applied. In the conventional methodology, Carry Save Adder (CSA) is used in the multiplication and it consumes more area and it has larger delay, but in the suggested methodology, the Reverse Carry Propagate (RCP) adder is used in the place of CSA adder and the obtained output shows promising results in terms of area and latency. The simulation is done with xilinx ISE design suite. The proposed multiplier can be used effectively in signal processing, image processing and security based applications.

Cervical optical coherence tomography (OCT) is crucial in diagnosing cervical diseases due to its high-resolution imaging and non-invasive characteristics. However, recent improvements in classifying cervical OCT images have mainly focused on accuracy, often neglecting the importance of uncertainty and robustness in disease predictions. Uncertainty estimation faces challenges in collecting evidence for the minority classes, leading to fake confidence in evidential deep learning. There are similar issues with cervical OCT image classification. This study proposes a novel evidential learning process for cervical disease screening using OCT. It provides a measure of decision margin for each class with two novel mechanisms to address the hinge posted by class imbalance. Specifically, we introduce a reweighted margin adjustment strategy to learn less biased evidence among classes and make reliable uncertainty estimations. Extensive experiments on internal and external cervical OCT datasets demonstrate the proposed method outperforms competitive baseline methods, providing more reliable and robust predictions, particularly in out-of-distributions scenarios. By improving uncertainty estimation for class imbalance, our method offers valuable insights for practical clinical applications, highlighting the importance of measuring uncertainty in medical AI-aided diagnosis systems.

Cross-channel unlabeled sensing addresses the problem of recovering a multi-channel signal from measurements that were shuffled across channels. This work expands the cross-channel unlabeled sensing framework to signals that lie in a union of subspaces. The extension allows for handling more complex signal structures and broadens the framework to tasks like compressed sensing. These mismatches between samples and channels often arise in applications such as whole-brain calcium imaging of freely moving organisms or multi-target tracking. We improve over previous models by deriving tighter bounds on the required number of samples for unique reconstruction, while supporting more general signal types. The approach is validated through an application in whole-brain calcium imaging, where organism movements disrupt sample-to-neuron mappings. This demonstrates the utility of our framework in real-world settings with imprecise sample-channel associations, achieving accurate signal reconstruction.

Learning-based image coding has shown promising results during recent years. Unlike the traditional approaches to image compression, learning-based codecs exploit deep neural networks for reducing dimensionality of the input at the stage where a linear transform would be typically applied previously. The signal representation after this stage, called latent space, carries the information in such a way that it can be interpreted by other deep neural networks without the need of decoding it. One of the tasks that can benefit from the above-mentioned possibility is super resolution. In this paper, we explore the possibilities and propose an approach for super resolution that is applied in the latent space. We focus on the fixed compression model, where the encoder part of the network is frozen and an enhanced decoder is learned. Additionally, we assess the performance of the proposed approach.

The COVID-19 outbreak brought a huge impact globally. Early studies show that the COVID-19 is manifested in chest x-rays of infected patients. Hence, these studies attract the attention of the computer vision community in integrating x-ray scans and deep-learning-based solutions to aid the diagnosis of COVID-19 infection. However, at present, efforts and information on implementing explainable artificial intelligence in interpreting deep learning model for COVID-19 recognition are scarce and limited. In this paper, we proposed and compared the LIME and SHAP model to enhance the interpretation of COVID diagnosis through x-ray scans. We first applied SqueezeNet to recognise pneumonia, COVID-19, and normal lung image. Through SqueezeNet, an 84.34% recognition rate success in testing accuracy was obtained. To better understand what the network "sees" a specific task, namely, image classification, Shapley Additive Explanation (SHAP) and Local Interpretable Model-Agnostic Explanations (LIME) were implemented to expound and interpret how Squeezenet performs classification. Results show that LIME and SHAP can highlight the area of interest where they can help to increase the transparency and the interpretability of the Squeezenet model. © 2021 IEEE

In Communications systems Cognitive Radio applications CR are being applied, because CR will increase the utilization of spectrum. For example, spectrum of TV White Space TVWS that is allocated but are underutilized today and also that spectrum which will become free after digital switchover DSO. In this paper, for first time, investigate the spectrum utilization pattern in range from 470 MHz to 790 MHz (UHF) in 18 cities in Malaysia. Over the course of seven days, the signal intensity energy was monitored in a number of frequency ranges. This study investigates variations in TVWS depending on the significance of CR’s broadcast power and position. The analysis support reasonable opportunistic between cognitive radio devices and underutilize spectrum, and present the initial quantifiable study of accessibility of TVWS spectrum in Malaysia.
