Bottom terminated circuit components with their low cost, improved signal speeds and good thermal performances have made the use of these elements increasingly widespread in recent years. However, in the post assembly inspection of these components solder voids can be encountered at a level of effecting the functionality and reliability of the board. It is difficult to detect solder voids manually by visual inspection;therefore x-ray systems have to be used for the detection of solder voids. Solder voids can not be accurately detected with the software on some existing low resolution x-ray control system, a manual adjustment was required on the received images. In this study;images received from low resolution x-ray device were processed with the help of various image processing algorithms and a graphical user interface program that allows automotic detection of different tyoes of solder voids was created. The work has been proven by using real x-ray images, which yield more accurate results than the existing x-ray software.

According to the latest research, it is very much clear that in future we require a huge amount of data as modern advancement in communication and signal processing generates a large number of bytes some examples are 5G peak data rate about 300 Mb/sec, an image of black hole required several petabytes to store & in medical signal processing huge amount of data required. So, by these examples, we can easily understand the scarcity of storage in near future. To overcome this problem of data scarcity such type of data compression is required in which the information of the signal will not be degraded. A well-known method is Compressive Sensing which can easily tackle this problem of data compression.

The method of calculation of averaged digital image profiles has been developed. The image profile is dependence of the value of the pixel brightness on the image coordinate along the specified line segment. The corresponding software was developed in the MATLAB system. Profile analysis is widely used in the processing of experimental and simulated digital images, especially if the images contain band-shaped objects. The presence of bands is characteristic of electron diffraction images, x-ray moire images, images of scanning probe microscopy, optical medical images, and others. Cross-section profiles contain important information about the explored object, since they describe the one-dimensional distribution of object brightness. A single band profile may contain an appreciable noise component. Therefore, in order to increase the signal-to-noise ratio, a series of band profiles were obtained, on the basis of which the averaged profile was calculated. The calculation of the average profile is relatively easy to implement in cases when all the band profiles have the same scale, and line consisting of their starting points is parallel to line consisting of their ending points. However, the most of the experimental images undergo the geometric distortions, and the lines consisting of starting or ending points of the profiles correspond to conic-shaped curves. Therefore, in this paper we proposed firstly to approximate the curves consisting of starting/ending points by two envelopes, and then to calculate a series of profiles on the basis of these envelopes. Circles, ellipses, parabolas and hyperbolas were used as envelope functions. The mathematical model, algorithm and software for calculating enveloping profiles in images are developed. The envelopes are calculated on the basis of the coordinates of the base points, which are determined by the user or calculated through the contours of the band. Determination of abnormalities in coronary vessels and vessel segmentation in x-ray coronary angiography has been a challenging problem in recent years. This paper presents a new approach to increase segmentation success in angiography images. With the proposed method, the vessel location due to the change in brightness are detected in the angiography image sequences. In Angiography images Frangi Filter for vessel identification and the OTSU algorithm for automatic threshold detection in image thresholding that was tried to vessel segmentation. The contribution of the proposed method to the success of segmentation is shown wiht the experiments. Sensitivity, specifity and accuracy measures are used to analyze the segmentation success. The results are compared with the manual segmentation of the angio by the specialist. In the experiments, it is seen that the proposed method increases at least 3% of the segmantation success. In the best example, the accuracy has increased to 91,67 deni 93,81.

We propose a real-time detection method for vehicle queue length detection at intersections based on image processing technology. Firstly, we acquire the image of vehicle queue at the intersection, and apply the automatic brightness adjustment algorithm and lane line detection algorithm to reduce the affect of different light intensity and camera shake on the image respectively. And then, the preprocessed image is subtracted from the background image to obtain the foreground image of queue vehicle. Finally, we detect the vehicle queue length by the middle line, and the actual vehicle queue length is measured by the camera calibration method. The experimental results show that the proposed method has high accuracy rate and is fast enough for practical application.

How to describe an image accurately with the most useful information is the key issue of any face recognition task. Therefore, finding efficient and discriminative facial information that should be stable under different conditions of the image acquisition process is a huge challenge. Most existing approaches use only one type of features. In this paper, we argue that a robust face recognition technique requires several different kinds of information to be taken into account, suggesting the incorporation of several feature sets into a single fused one. Therefore, a new technique that combines the facial shape with the local structure and texture of the face image is proposed, namely multi-feature fusion (MFF). It is based on local boosted features (LBF) and Gabor wavelets techniques. Given an input image, the LBF histogram and Gabor features histogram are built separately. Then a final MFF feature descriptor is formed by concatenating these three histograms, which feeds to the support vector machine (SVM) classifier to recognize the face image. The proposed MFF approach is evaluated on three different face datasets and provided promising results.

In this paper, a new generative adversarial networks (GAN) is proposed for image denoising. The proposed GAN has a new generator network to produce denoised images with noisy images as input, and the entire network is trained using a new loss to represent the distance between the data distribution of clean images and denoised images. Based on quantitative and qualitative evaluating criteria, we made comparisons between our method and other denoising methods which shows the superiority of our approach.

With the increasing demands of copyright protection, digital watermarking has been paid more and more attention. In the design of a watermarking method, the modeling of signal by a general parametric family of statistical distributions plays an important role in many image watermarking applications. In this paper, the probability density function of wavelet coefficients is modeled by the generalized Gaussian distribution (GGD), and the decision threshold is obtained by the Neyman-Pearson (NP) criterion. In the procedure of watermark embedding, the energy of image block is considered in the watermark embedding. Only those blocks whose energy exceeds a predetermined threshold are used to embed the watermark data. Its improved robustness is due to embedding in the significant wavelet coefficients based on the energy scheme and control of its strength factor from the variance of coefficient. Experimental results demonstrate that the effectiveness of the presented watermarking and its robustness against common image processing and some kinds of geometric attacks.

Block truncation coding (BTC), known as a simple and efficient digital image compression algorithm, its essential is to encode the non-overlapping sub-blocks of input images with a pair of low-/high-quantity levels and a distribution matrix. Absolute Moment Block Truncation Coding (AMBTC) is a widely used modified version of BTC. Based on BTC, we paper propose a new approach by means of an adjusted threshold to classify each sub-block. Then, for those blocks grouped as to be modified we apply a new BTC-based modification method by searching optimized threshold as the replacement of the mean value of sub-blocks in AMBTC for pixels grouping. Experimental results show that, compared with AMBTC, the reconstructed image quality of proposed scheme can be improved by 0.5 similar to 0.8dB in Peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR)

In the last years, there has been a huge improvement in Electro-Optical (EO) systems effectiveness, due to the availability of large staring arrays detectors with higher performance, as well as strong processing capability. So both in homeland surveillance and for military situational awareness, the use of EO systems, operating from Visible to Infrared, has dramatically grown. Operations in Degraded Visual Environment (DVE) are frequent during military actions, due to many factors: either natural (poor light, fog, glare etc.) or intentionally produced (smoke, dust etc.). In these conditions the performance of EO sensors is degraded and therefore their effectiveness for Detection, Recognition and Identification (DRI) and Navigation capability. In general, the situational awareness is strongly affected as well as the safety of personnel. Proper techniques are needed to restore (at least partially) the imaging capabilities of EO sensors in DVEs. The project SPIDVE (Study on EO Sensors Performance Improvement in Degraded Visual Environment), promoted by the European Defense Agency (EDA), is focused on the analysis of the impact on EO sensors performance by the adverse visual conditions. It starts from the analysis of the status of the art in terms of technology, processing, measurements and modeling methodologies, based on the existing scientific literature, to carry out an assessment of the most promising technologies for image enhancement and restoration in different DVEs. Particular care is devoted to the discussion with the final users (the military personnel) to identify the cases of higher interest for their operations. On this basis the possible candidate methodologies shall be analyzed more deeply, evaluating their performance with the aim of selecting the most promising one. At the end, a possible roadmap for new initiatives to exploit and develop the findings shall be defined.
