Integrated Framework for Development, Emulation, and Testing of High-Level Converter Control Functions for distributed Generation Sources

With the increase in power installed from distributed generation sources (DGS), many problems have appeared following the utilisation of novel topologies and structures. Higher-level controllers for the safe operation of power grids with a high penetration of DGS must be developed. This task becomes difficult as the size and complexity of modern power systems have increased. The development and testing of these systems under strict human supervision controlling each step of the testing procedure is no longer viable. This paper presents a comprehensive integrated platform based on an HIL emulator for the development and testing of electric power systems rich in DGS. Essentially, DGS is considered a controllable black-box system. A detailed calculation of the power references for an arbitrary DGS is shown. The paper also describes the utilisation of enhanced Python scripting which was designed to load all network-related data, start the emulation, collect the data, and generate reports. Furthermore, fully developed controller built-in oscilloscope functionality is introduced. The incorporated oscilloscope facilitates non-intrusive DGS controller data acquisition and analysis, reducing the need for external measurements. The proposed framework was verified by a case study in which a grid topology consisting of 26 nodes was emulated on parallel CHIL infrastructure. Four active and twenty-two passive nodes were instantiated and their reaction to a distribution network grid faults was examined. DGS converter control was executed in external controllers outside of the dedicated HIL environment. All DGSs were governed by different control strategies, regarding maximisation of active/reactive power production, minimisation of the active/reactive power oscillations, adjustable positive/negative components ratio, or without any limitations under voltage disturbances. real-time experiments confirmed the usefulness and flexibility of the proposed framework concept.

The numerical solution of high-dimensional PDE problems is essential for many research questions, such as understanding relativistic astrophysics, quantum physics, or hot fusion plasmas. At the same time, it is haunted by the curse of dimensionality, rendering finely resolved simulations infeasible even on modern architectures. The Sparse Grid Combination Technique helps to break the curse of dimensionality for high-dimensional PDE problems to some extent. Erasure-coded storage systems can achieve highly reliable data storage with low storage overhead. However, updating data blocks necessitates updating parity blocks, and updating multiple data blocks incurs heavy I/O and computational overhead, leading to prolonged update times in heterogeneous storage environments. This paper proposes an erasure-coded multi-data block update method for heterogeneous storage environments, named MBUS, to expedite data updates. MBUS blends re-encoding and delta-based updates and considers factors such as intermediate blocks, computational overhead, and I/O overhead across different storage media. It iteratively computes the minimal I/O time for updating each parity block dynamically. Once the computation equation for each parity block is determined, MBUS prioritizes computing common XOR expressions and reuses the results to reduce the number of XOR operations. MBUS caches a certain number of scheduling plans to minimize redundant computations in subsequent updates, thereby reducing computation time. Experimental results replaying real-world traces demonstrate that MBUS reduces update time by 64.43% compared to state-of-the-art techniques.

A DC microgrid is an efficient way to combine diverse sources;conventional droop control is unable to achieve both accurate current sharing and required voltage regulation. This paper provides a new adaptive control approach for DC microgrid applications that satisfies both accurate current sharing and appropriate voltage regulation depending on the loading state. As the load increases in parallel, so do the output currents of the distributed generating units, and correct current sharing is necessary under severe load conditions. The suggested control approach raises the equivalent droop gains as the load level increases in parallel and provides accurate current sharing. The droop parameters were checked online and changed using the principal current sharing loops to reduce the variation in load current sharing, and the second loop also transferred the droop lines to eliminate DC microgrid bus voltage fluctuation in the adaptive droop controller, which is different and inventive. The proposed algorithm is tested using a variety of input voltages and load resistances. This work assesses the performance and stability of the suggested method using a linearized model and verifies the results using an acceptable model created in MATLAB/SIMULINK Software Version 9.3 and using real-time Simulation Fundamentals and hardware-based experimentation.

Modern science is heavily intertwined with the use of computing, with complex and large-scale computational applications needing to be executed on parallel and distributed computing plat- forms. The execution of these applications on these platforms is facilitated by multi-component software infrastructures that implement various algorithms for orchestrating and managing applica- tion computation and data access. Given the complexity of such systems (i. e., application workload, compute platform, and software infrastructure), optimizing for their efficient execution is a difficult proposition, which raises many research questions. A large literature focuses on answering these questions, following an experimental approach: draw conclusions based on real-world experiments, that is, executions on real-world platforms. real-world experiments have many shortcomings, in- cluding high cost, labor, and time. Furthermore, they cannot be used to explore hypothetical scenarios that go beyond application, platform, and workflow configurations at hand. One approach that obviates the shortcomings of real-world experiments is simulation, i. e., the use of a software artifact that models and mimics the functional and performance behaviors of the execution of a parallel and distributed computing system. The main concern, however, is that of the accuracy of the simulation. High simulation accuracy can only be achieved by "calibrating" simulation parameters adequately with respect to real-world executions. Unfortunately, simulation calibration is rarely done in the literature, or, when it is done, it is a poorly documented, painstak- ing, manual process. In this thesis we explore the feasibility of automated simulation calibration in the context of the simulation of parallel and distributed computing systems. We frame the simulation calibration problem as an optimization problem, and propose an automated simulation calibration approach that can be instantiated for arbitrary simulation

The integration of the Internet of Things (IoT) into various industries has led to an exponential increase in the volume of data generated, posing significant challenges for compliance monitoring. Traditional compliance checking methods are often inadequate due to their inability to handle the high velocity and volume of real-time data streams emanating from IoT devices. In this paper, we introduce a novel distributed computing framework specifically designed to address these challenges by leveraging process mining techniques on IoT log data streams. The proposed framework is built to scale horizontally, allowing for the parallel processing of massive data sets while maintaining real-time performance. It is capable of identifying compliance patterns, detecting deviations, and providing actionable insights to ensure that IoT systems operate within the confines of established regulations and standards. To evaluate the performance and effectiveness of the proposed framework, we conducted extensive experiments using a publicly available industrial IoT log dataset. The results demonstrate the framework’s ability to process large volumes of data in real-time, offering a significant improvement over existing centralized approaches. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

This article mainly designs a general-purpose real-time data analysis and processing system based on Spark, which mainly includes new ETL and real-time processing engine modules, and is committed to achieving higher real-time performance than traditional Hadoop. Fast batch processing and machine learning The various types of data computers are included in this article by preparing the cutting device and adjusting the cutting output. The device is ready to effectively terminate the CUDA environment. The cudamalloc function is used to allocate a linear space of bytes to the device, and then transfer the data from the host to the device to determine the number of GPU blocks and threads. Jamming attack is one of the common malicious attacks in cyber-physical power systems (CPPSs) to intervene measurements and systems. timely detection of jamming attacks is crucial for real-time monitoring and security of CPPSs. With this goal, this article proposes genetic-algorithm-based cumulative sum methods for online detection of jamming attacks in both centralized and distributed CPPSs. The proposed detectors are robust to time-varying jamming magnitudes and time-varying attacked locations. The time-varying attack magnitudes are estimated by a maximum likelihood estimation (MLE). The attacked locations are determined by a binary-coded genetic algorithm (BCGA), where the locations are encoded into a binary string. Moreover, in the distributed setting, we propose two parallel information filters to estimate states in the case of jamming attacks. One distributed and four centralized IEEE bus systems are used to testify the proposed detectors. The numerical results show the effectiveness of the proposed detectors in detecting jamming attacks in CPPSs.

Despite existing parallel chain systems improving blockchain throughput by allowing concurrent blocks to be appended, challenges such as the excessive number of waiting blocks before confirmation and the inconsistency between block generation order and global confirmation sequence still persist. To address these challenges, we propose CVchain, a parallel chain system with a cross-voting mechanism. Blocks from other subchains are incorporated into the consistency determination of the main chain, reducing the probability of confirmation errors. Our global sorting mechanism leverages both real-time height information and the implicit temporal order contained in voting to improve the accuracy of block ordering. Furthermore, our voting mechanism randomly splits the mining power of the system, preventing targeted attacks on the specific subchain and defending against liveness attacks. We prove the safety and liveness properties of CVchain. We demonstrated its performance with a prototype implementation and large-scale experiments involving 200 nodes across 10 cloud servers in a distributed network environment. The results indicate that CVchain achieves a latency reduction of approximately 32.3% at a confirmation error probability of 0.01 while maintaining throughput levels comparable to OHIE. Additionally, it provides enhanced transaction ordering services.

In parallel computing, where efficiency and speed are crucial, the Message Passing Interface (MPI) is a fundamental paradigm for managing large-scale distributed memory systems. MPI is critical to complex computational tasks, particularly in grid-based computations that solve intricate numerical problems by discretizing spatial domains into structured grids. However, MPI Cartesian communicators exhibit limitations in handling these computations effectively, especially when managing large-scale data exchanges and complex stencil patterns. This paper addresses these challenges by presenting an integrated approach that combines MPI collective and Cartesian communication methods. The proposed solution simplifies data distribution, eliminates redundant interfaces, and enhances communication efficiency. Experimental results show a 43% reduction in execution time and a 40% decrease in communication overhead, with scalability improvements achieving 12.5x speedup using 64 processes. These quantitative outcomes demonstrate the advan-tages of the proposed method over conventional MPI Cartesian approaches, establishing it as a reliable framework for advancing High-Performance Computing (HPC) capabilities in grid-based applications.
