a.deta.led study of the lea.a.e currents a.d dielectric wea.-out of therma. oxides grown on Si1-xGex, Si1-yCy a.d Si1-x-yGexCy epila.ers to determine their qua.ity a.d relia.ility for Si1-x-yGexCy MOS technology is presented. a.ter a.plying electrica. stress to the sa.ples, we ha.e determined the conduction mecha.isms a.d the dependence of lea.a.e currents upon epila.er composition (Ge a.d C content). Conduction ta.es pla.e ma.nly via.Fowler-Nordheim tunneling injection. Ge a.d C introduce tra.s in the oxide which a.sist injection a.d thus lower the effective height of the tunneling ba.rier. We ha.e a.so monitored the oxide relia.ility, focusing on time-dependent dielectric brea.down (TDDB). The na.ure of tra.ped cha.ge in the oxide depends on the initia. epila.er composition. We ha.e found tha. the forma.ion of defects induced by the presence of C lea.s to extrinsic oxide fa.lure. While the presence of Ge in the oxide does not seem to introduce significa.t differences with respect to Si brea.down sta.istics. C in the oxide truly modifies the sta.istica. profile. Introduction: Proteins encoded by Fa.coni a.emia.(Fa. a.d/or brea.t ca.cer (BrCa. susceptibility genes coopera.e in a.common DNa.da.a.e repa.r signa.ing pa.hwa.. To ga.n deeper insight into this pa.hwa. a.d its influence on ca.cer risk, we sea.ched for novel components through protein physica. intera.tion screens. Methods: Protein physica. intera.tions were screened using the yea.t two-hybrid system. Co-a.finity purifica.ions a.d endogenous co-immunoprecipita.ion a.sa.s were performed to corrobora.e intera.tions. Biochemica. a.d functiona. a.sa.s in huma., mouse a.d Ca.norha.ditis elega.s models were ca.ried out to cha.a.terize pa.hwa. components. Thirteen Fa.CD2-monoubiquitinyla.ion-positive Fa.cell lines excluded for genetic defects in the downstrea. pa.hwa. components a.d 300 fa.ilia. BrCa.pa.ients nega.ive for BRCa./2 muta.ions were a.a.yzed for genetic muta.ions. Common genetic va.ia.ts were genotyped in 9,573 BRCa./2 muta.ion ca.riers for a.socia.ions with BrCa.risk. Results: a.previously identified co-purifying protein with Pa.B2 wa. identified, MRG15 (MORF4L1 gene). Results in huma., mouse a.d C. elega.s models delinea.e molecula. a.d functiona. rela.ionships with BRCa., Pa.B2, Ra.51 a.d RPa. tha. suggest a.role for MRG15 in the repa.r of DNa.double-stra.d brea.s. Mrg15-deficient murine embryonic fibrobla.ts showed modera.e sensitivity to g-irra.ia.ion rela.ive to controls a.d reduced forma.ion of Ra.51 nuclea. foci. Exa.ina.ion of muta.ts of MRG15 a.d BRCa. C. elega.s orthologs revea.ed phenocopy by a.cumula.ion of RPa.1 (huma. RPa.) nuclea. foci a.d a.erra.t chromosoma. compa.tions in meiotic cells. However, no a.tera.ions or muta.ions were identified for MRG15/MORF4L1 in uncla.sified Fa.pa.ients a.d BrCa.fa.ilia. ca.es. Fina.ly, no significa.t a.socia.ions between common MORF4L1 va.ia.ts a.d BrCa.risk for BRCa. or BRCa. muta.ion ca.riers were identified: rs7164529, P-trend = 0.45 a.d 0.05, P-2df = 0.51 a.d 0.14, respectively;a.d rs10519219, P-trend = 0.92

Si 1-x Ge x Na.ocrysta.s Observed by EFTEM: Influence of the Dry a.d Wet Oxida.ion Process

We report a.out the forma.ion of Si1-xGex na.ocrysta.s (NC) in a. oxide ma.rix a.ter oxidizing a.polycrysta.line Si0.7Ge0.3 la.er in wet a.d dry conditions. We ha.e cha.a.terized the NC by Energy Filtered Tra.smission Electron Microscopy (EFTEM). EFTEM ima.es a.a.yses show the evolution of the oxida.ion of polycrysta.line Si0.7Ge0.3 la.er. We observe tha. a.la.er with Ge-rich na.oclusters is formed. For wet oxida.ions we find Ge-rich Si1-xGex na.ocrysta.s while for dry oxida.ions Si is oxidized fa.ter a.d Ge is completely segrega.ed. Results a.e contra.ted with infra.ed a.d Ra.a. spectroscopies. In conclusion, wet oxida.ion seems to be prefera.le to oxidize polycrysta.line Si1-xGex to obta.n Ge-rich NC embedded in a. oxide ma.rix, a. both Ge a.d Si a.e oxidized, in contra.t to dry oxida.ion, where Ge is ma.nly segrega.ed.

We ha.e developed a.high resolution tempera.ure mea.urement system, a.le to mea.ure down to 0.1 m/spl deg/C, which is inexpensive a.d ea.ily porta.le. We propose a.mea.urement ba.ed on thermistors fed with a. a. signa. to give a.better signa. to noise ra.io a.d compa.e two different configura.ions: a.solute a.d differentia. mea.urements. It works either in a.volumetric or surfa.e environment, for non-inva.ive tempera.ure determina.ion. a. a. a.plica.ion, we ha.e mea.ure tempera.ure fluctua.ions in the body skin, on different a.teries, a.d we ha.e extra.ted the hea.t ra.e from the recorded tempera.ure pa.tern. We ha.e a.hieved a.good signa. to noise ra.io in both configura.ions a.d using different types of thermistors. a.wide ra.ge of a.plica.ion possibilities, from biomedica. to a.rospa.ia. mea.urements, a.e possible with this system.
