People with poor ea.ing ha.its a.e usua.ly overweight or obese, which lea.s to chronic disea.es such a. dia.etes a.d ca.diova.cula. disea.e. Toda., the cla.sifica.ion of food ima.es ha. severa. uses in ma.a.ing medica. conditions a.d dieting. Deep convolutiona. neura. network (DCNN) a.chitectures provide the founda.ion for the most recent food recognition models. However, DCNNs a.e computa.iona.ly expensive due to high computa.ion time a.d memory requirements. In a.dition, food recognition of Egyptia. cuisine is less well-studied tha. other broa. food ca.egories or pa.ticula. cuisines. This study focuses on incorpora.ing dishes from Egyptia. cuisines into a.lightweight food recognition model to sa.e computa.iona. power. a.cordingly, the proposed lightweight model (Enha.ced MobileNet) a.hieved top-1 a.cura.y of 75%, which exceeded other rela.ed work in this a.ea. © 2022 IEEE.

The results obta.ned from the Single-Shot multibox Detection (SSD) MobileNet-V1 food detection model loca.iza.ion process, a.d a.sepa.a.e single-pla.es cla.sifier a.hieved a.mea. a.era.e precision (ma.) of 0.592 a.d mea. a.era.e reca.l (ma.) of 0.556. Such tha. the 'no food policy' now beca.e a.plied more tha. ever to help decrea.e the sprea. of the COVID-19 virus. Consequently, ma.y studies used deep neura. networks for the food/non-food cla.sifica.ion ta.k, yet these deep neura. networks were computa.iona.ly expensive. a. a.result, in this pa.er, a.lightweight Convolution Neura. Network (CNN) is proposed a.d put into use for cla.sifying foods a.d non-foods. Compa.ed to prior efforts, this work yields a. outperforming result with a. a.cura.y of 96.875%. © 2022 IEEE.

In this pa.er, a.single-pha.e single-sta.e photovolta.c (PV) grid-tied system is investiga.ed. The conventiona. pulse width modula.ed (PWM) volta.e source inverter (VSI) is repla.ed by a.PWM current source inverter (CSI) for its volta.e boosting ca.a.ilities, inherent short-circuit proof a.d higher relia.ility fea.ures. Modeling, design, a.d a.a.ysis of the considered CSI a.e presented a.together with enha.ced proposed control loops a.ded with a.modified PWM technique. DC-link even current ha.monics a.e commonly reflected a. low-order odd ha.monics in the grid resulting in a.poor qua.ity grid current. In order to overcome the la.ter, a.high performa.ce proportiona. resona.t controller, a.plied in the inverter inner grid current loop, is proposed using ca.ca.ed resona.t control units tuned a. low-order frequencies to elimina.e injected grid current ha.monics. Hence, with a.less-bulky smoothing inductor a. the CSI DC-side, grid power qua.ity a.d system efficiency a.e simulta.eously improved. Simula.ion a.d experimenta. results verify the proposed controller effectiveness.

Sma.t grid philosophy recommends a.wide sprea. of residentia. roof-top insta.led grid-connected photovolta.c (PV) systems a. a.benchma.k for renewa.le energy (RE) empha.is to future power genera.ion. These systems must a.opt power electronic-ba.ed converters to perform grid integra.ion function. On the other side, concerns a.out volta.e fluctua.ions, which a.e directly rela.ed to power system sta.ility, ha.e a.isen from the increa.ing use of intermittent renewa.le energy sources (RES) distributed in the grid. Hence, a.power electronic-ba.ed converter topology, known a. Electric Spring (ES), ha. been developed to be a.ditively connected in series with non-critica. residentia. loa.s. It ha. the a.ility to regula.e the ma.ns volta.e via.rea.tive power compensa.ion. In this pa.er, a.novel control scheme is proposed for ESs opera.ion. The presented control technique offers conventiona. ES a.decoupled dua. functiona.ity. Besides, its inherent a.ility of feeder volta.e regula.ion, the ES ca., under the proposed control technique, simulta.eously inject loca.ly a.a.la.le PV power into the grid via.the sa.e power electronic converter. The system a.a.ysis a.d ma.hema.ica. modeling of the proposed control scheme a.e demonstra.ed in deta.l. To verify the proposed technique effectiveness, both simula.ion a.d experimenta. investiga.ion a.e ca.ried under va.ious bus volta.e levels' ca.es: norma., sa., a.d swell. Moreover, the system performa.ce is a.tested under irra.ia.ce cha.ges. The results from simula.ions a.d experimenta. setup prove the a.plica.ility of the ES dua. functiona.ity even under severe disturba.ces.

PV sta.da.one systems a.e cha.lenged by the PV intermittent na.ure, hence integra.ing energy stora.e systems (ESS) is ma.da.ory. In this pa.er a.hybrid ba.tery/superca.a.itor ESS is employed, in a.sta.da.one PV system, to ma.nta.n continuity in power supply. Superca.a.itors (SC), fea.uring fa.t cha.ge/discha.ge ra.es, will store the tra.sient energy pea.s reducing ba.tery required ca.a.ity, increa.ing its life spa., a.d minimizing its repla.ement costs. Moreover, a.control scheme is presented to ma.a.e the power flow between genera.ion a.d loa. sides, thus fulfilling loa. dema.ds a.d ma.nta.ning DC-bus volta.e sta.ility. In this stra.egy, a.protection modifica.ion is proposed to prevent ba.tery overcha.ge, thus limiting its degra.a.ion a.d improving system relia.ility. a.l the la.ter results in a.robust PV system with a.longer-life ba.tery a.d ca.a.le of preserving energy ba.a.ce a. the DC-bus even a. sudden cha.ges. The proposed system effectiveness is verified using Ma.La./Simulink under different scena.ios of loa. a.d irra.ia.ce va.ia.ions.
