In this pa.er, a. enha.ced performa.ce single-sta.e LED driver is proposed. The proposed topology a.opts a.fly-ba.k ba.ed single-pha.e line-rectifier. The flyba.k converter's duty cycle is designed offline to a.hieve a.unity power fa.tor without a. input filter. a.double line frequency π-network CLC filter is utilized, fea.uring a.reduced-va.ue long-life cera.ic non-pola.ized ca.a.itor. The presented topology offers: (i) unity power fa.tor opera.ion, (ii) reduced LED current ripples, (iii) sma.l footprint, (iv) non-pola.ized ca.a.itor implementa.ion, a.d (v) high relia.ility. LED driver prototype is implemented a.d a.tested. Simula.ion in a.dition to experimenta. results va.ida.es the proposed topology effectiveness.

In this pa.er, a.dc-link volta.e sensorless control technique is proposed for single-pha.e two-sta.e grid-coupled photovolta.c (PV) converters. Ma.ching conventiona. control techniques, the proposed scheme a.signs the function of PV ma.imum power point tra.king to the chopper sta.e. However, in the inverter sta.e, conventiona. techniques employ two control loops: outer dc-link volta.e a.d inner grid current control loops. Diversely, the proposed technique employs only current control loop a.d mitiga.es the volta.e control loop, thus elimina.ing the dc-link high-volta.e sensor. Hence, system cost a.d footprint a.e reduced, a.d control complexity is minimized. Furthermore, the remova. of the dc-link volta.e loop proportiona.-integra. controller enha.ces system sta.ility a.d improves its dyna.ic response during sudden environmenta. cha.ges. The system simula.ion is ca.ried out, a.d a. experimenta. rig is implemented to va.ida.e the proposed technique effectiveness. In a.dition, the proposed technique is compa.ed with the conventiona. one under va.ying irra.ia.ce conditions a. different dc-link volta.e levels, illustra.ing the enha.ced ca.a.ilities of the proposed technique.

Model Predictive Control (MPC) is very suita.le controller for ma.y industria. a.plica.ions especia.ly for constra.ned systems. However, it requires high computa.ion burden. On the other side, PID controller is simple a.d popula. for industria. a.plica.ions in pa.ticula. for Single Input Single Output (SISO) systems but it is difficult to be tuned especia.ly for constra.ned systems. To ga.n the benefits of the two controllers a.d reduce their limita.ions, a.hiera.chica. control structure (two levels) is proposed. The a.gorithm concept focuses on the a.a.ta.ion of PID controller pa.a.eters (lower level) a.cording to the MPC performa.ce (higher level). The a.gorithm is tested on two constra.ned systems;sepa.a.ely excited DC motor a. a.SISO system a.d three ta.k system a. Multi Input Multi Output (MIMO) benchma.k system.

Va.ia.le-step incrementa. conducta.ce (***.) technique, for photovolta.c (PV) ma.imum power point tra.king, ha. merits of good tra.king a.cura.y a.d fa.t convergence speed. Yet, it la.ks simplicity in its implementa.ion due to the ma.hema.ica. division computa.ions involved in its a.gorithm structure. Furthermore, the conventiona. va.ia.le step-size, ba.ed on the division of the PV module power cha.ge by the PV volta.e cha.ge, encounters stea.y-sta.e power oscilla.ions a.d dyna.ic problems especia.ly under sudden environmenta. cha.ges. In this study, a. enha.cement is introduced to ***. a.gorithm in order to entirely elimina.e the division ca.cula.ions involved in its structure. Hence, a.gorithm implementa.ion complexity is minimised ena.ling the utilisa.ion of low-cost microcontrollers to cut down system cost. Moreover, the required rea. processing time is reduced, thus sa.pling ra.e ca. be improved to fa.ten system response during sudden cha.ges. Rega.ding the a.plied step-size, a.modified va.ia.le-step size, which depends solely on PV power, is proposed. The la.ter a.hieves enha.ced tra.sient performa.ce with minima. stea.y-sta.e power oscilla.ions a.ound the MPP even under pa.tia. sha.ing. For proposed technique's va.ida.ion, simula.ion work is ca.ried out a.d a. experimenta. set up is implemented in which a.DUINO Uno boa.d, ba.ed on low-cost a.mega.28 microcontroller, is employed.

Control techniques, a.plied to single-pha.e two-sta.e grid-connected photovolta.c (PV) systems, ma.nly a.hieve functions of ma.imum power point tra.king (MPPT), volta.e a.justment a. inverter DC-link, a.d grid current control. Conventiona. control techniques require mea.urements of PV volta.e a.d current, DC-link volta.e, a.d grid volta.e a.d current. Commonly, sensorless techniques a.e proposed to simplify system implementa.ion a.d decrea.e its entire size a.d cost. However, most focus on elimina.ing PV volta.e a.d/or current sensors. In this pa.er, a.sensorless technique is proposed which keeps PV sensors, but elimina.es the expensive high DC-link volta.e sensor by mitiga.ing the inverter DC-link volta.e control loop. a.terna.ively, volta.e regula.ion a. inverter DC-link is a.hieved through power ba.a.ce gua.a.tee a. this link. Hence, control complexity is minimized a.d system sta.ility is enha.ced. Moreover, the entire system implementa.ion is simplified a.d its dyna.ic response is improved during sudden irra.ia.ce cha.ges. Purpose: To investiga.e the effica.y a.d sa.ety of cornea. colla.en cross-linking (CXL) with photoa.tiva.ed ribofla.in (photoa.tiva.ed chromophore for infectious kera.itis [Pa.K]-CXL) in the ma.a.ement of infectious kera.itis with cornea. melting. Design: Prospective clinica. tria.. Pa.ticipa.ts: Forty eyes from 40 pa.ients with a.va.ced infectious kera.itis a.d coexisting cornea. melting. Methods: Twenty-one pa.ients (21 eyes) underwent Pa.K-CXL trea.ment in a.dition to a.timicrobia. thera.y. The control group consisted of 19 pa.ients (19 eyes) who received only a.timicrobia. thera.y. Ma.n Outcome Mea.ures: The slit-la.p cha.a.teristics of the cornea. ulcera.ion, corrected dista.ce visua. a.uity, dura.ion until hea.ing, a.d complica.ions were documented in ea.h group. The Ma.n-Whitney U test wa. used for sta.istica. a.a.ysis. P va.ues less tha. 0.05 were considered sta.istica.ly significa.t. Results: The a.era.e time until hea.ing wa. 39.76 +/- 18.22 da.s in the Pa.K-CXL group a.d 46.05 +/- 27.44 da.s in the control group (P = 0.68). a.ter trea.ment a.d hea.ing, corrected dista.ce visua. a.uity wa. 1.64 +/- 0.62 in the Pa.K-CXL group a.d 1.67 +/- 0.48 in the control group (P = 0.68). The cornea. ulcera.ion's width a.d length wa. significa.tly bigger in the Pa.K-CXL group (P = 0.004 a.d P = 0.007). Three pa.ients in the control group demonstra.ed cornea. perfora.ion;infection recurred in 1 of them. No serious complica.ions occurred in the Pa.K-CXL group. Conclusions: Cornea. CXL with photoa.tiva.ed ribofla.in did not shorten the time to cornea. hea.ing;however, the complica.ion ra.e wa. 21% in the control group, wherea. there wa. no incidence of cornea. perfora.ion or recurrence of the infection in the Pa.K-CXL group. These results indica.e tha. Pa.K-CXL ma. be a. effective a.juva.t thera.y in the ma.a.ement of severe infectious kera.itis a.socia.ed with cornea. melting.
