In this paper, there are presented the characteristics of reinforced concrete structures that are subjected to a corrosive environment. These structures allow for the appearance and opening of short-term and long-term cracks within certain limits during operation, as well as the variation in the moisture of the concrete depending on the ambient humidity. The basic nature of the concrete allows it to react with acids, while its increased porosity enables the absorption of liquids and gases, including aggressive ones, increasing its permeability. The basic recipes for these special concretes are presented, along with the minimum requirements for the necessary and mandatory coatings for isolating and protecting structures exposed to such corrosive environments. It has been proven that only polymeric coatings can ensure their protection in highly aggressive environments, whether gaseous or liquid. The operating conditions of reinforced concrete structures such as bridges, underpasses, pumping and wastewater treatment stations, poles, and foundations of industrial buildings with aggressive production environments are described, including food industry containers and reservoirs for storing potable and technical water. The results of experimental research regarding the design and development of complex polymer coatings intended for protecting the concrete of these structures confirm the effective provision of isolation and anticorrosive protection, adhesion to concrete, and increased resistance to cracking, as well as enhanced chemical and biological resistance and low (reduced) permeability to water and aggressive liquids. We can also mention here that there are disadvantages to using polymer coatings, primarily those related to the harmfulness of their production, as well as issues concerning their resistance to high temperatures. The global economy is at a turning point when the raw material is less and less about demand and harder to obtain. Moreover, the reduction of dioxide emissions carbon is mandatory in the context of climate change. At the same time, the waste in construction and other economic areas is increasingly difficult to manage because its sorting and recycling are not yet in line with the rules imposed by the European community and assumed by each state. In the current context of the need to reduce carbon dioxide emissions more and more, materials used for thermal protection of buildings must be obtained if possible from recyclable materials with low thermal conductivity and minimum energy consumption. In this paper, we propose a comparative analysis of the thermal conductivity obtained experimentally of some synthetic wood boards with variable content of recyclable waste (polystyrene, fly ash, sunflower husks, cement, polymer, etc ) using a double-climate chamber, with those obtained by numerical modeling using the finite element method. Experimental planning of synthetic wood boards was carried out with the help of the design of the experiment method which allowed a decrease in the number of experiments necessary for such investigations but with maximum efficiency on the results of the physicomechanical characteristics obtained. The results obtained by the two methods were very conclusive surrounding this material in the category of insulating ones with thermal conductivity between 0.071 and 0.107. We can say that synthetic wood obtained with variable addition of different compatible waste can contribute to more efficient use of this and implicitly to the decrease of the effect on the environment. © 2023 IEEE.

The paper contains the results of experimental research on the elaboration of the composition and optimization of the properties of the self-levelling screed based on cement and sand, intended for the fulfilment of the intermediate layer of floors, including industrial enterprises with the aggressive environment;sedentary parts of tanks, basins;bunkers;different containers, etc. The reinforced self-levelling screed has an absolutely horizontal surface. It allows the application of finished layers of composite polymer materials with a uniform thickness, and the finished layers of floor materials in rolls or shunt pieces to be absolutely smooth. To carry out the experimental testing the design of experiments method was used, which is the most advanced instrument of planning, realization, analysis and optimization existing in the scientific field that requires experimental testing, which is capable of correctly choosing the experimental design to provide the user with mathematical properties of the matrix used to define it. The experiments was carried out according to the D-Optimal design with 5 factors, which allowed the optimization of the composition of the complex addition, which includes the addition of plasticizer, clogged up, biocide and reinforcing accelerator, which in particular relation to the water content allows to ensure the self-levelling of the screed during its application, increased density, short grip time and increased chemical and biological resistance. With this method, we can also obtain the influence of each parameter studied on the properties of the self-levelling screed in order to eliminate the least influential from the regression equation. © 2023 International Multidisciplinary Scientific Geoconference. Nanomaterials are materials with new properties that interact through complex processes at the nanometric scale that include reactions in the quantum field and which still represent an unknown for many researchers. Improving the performance of cement mortar is generally achieved with the help of various additions. Nanoparticles have recently become a material very often used in the additive of various recipes of cementitious materials and not only, because at such a size their properties change surprisingly and their behavior passes into the quantum domain where the size and shape can produce new nanostructured materials with functions of self-repair or self-assembly. Even if progress in this field has been made and these nanomaterials have been introduced as part of many new and modern material recipes, there are still questions related to their true influence on the physical-mechanical properties. The current paper presents the achievements in the field regarding the use of nanomaterials in the cementitious materials component, but especially the influence on their physical-mechanical properties, which seem to be slightly different depending on the technical conditions of production. In parallel the mechanical properties such as compressive strength and flexural strength were analyzed to understand the behavior and influence of nanoparticles on them. Also structural and morphological studies of samples was performed by X-ray diffraction, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy. As a result, presence of the (ZnO, Fe:ZnO, Fe3O4 NPs) had prominently higher mechanical properties compared to that of the traditional mortar. © 2023 International Multidisciplinary Scientific Geoconference. The process of selecting and prioritizing investment project proposals in construction is characterized by multiple objectives and uncertainties due to incomplete information and the multitude and dynamics of factors that can intervene. Knowing their significance and influence on the final investment decision, it is a complex problem that requires a multi-critical analysis with both quantitative and qualitative factors, necessary for a good quantification and evaluation. In recent years, the increase in the complexity of projects involves a large number of factors that ensure the technical and economic success of infrastructure investments and therefore it is necessary to identify the optimal decision criteria in their selection and prioritization. Identifying and setting these criteria is generally difficult and depends on the professional skills of the project manager but should follow a systematic process to ensure its validity and transparency. The paper presents such an analysis of the Braila Bridge, which crosses the Danube River and is the largest suspended bridge in Romania and the third in Europe, which required such a study in order to benefit from the best investment decision from all points of view. Thus, two design versions with multiple and varied implications of parameters are analyzed, starting from the financial or technical one with the length of the route, the difficulty of the design and execution and especially its impact on the environment and biodiversity. © 2023 International Multidisciplinary Scientific Geoconference. The optimization of the station points stability position in the monitoring of civil engineering structures displacements in service stage is a necessity due to the fact that depending on the location of the station points the visibility and therefore the accuracy of the determination is maximized. Because sometimes these monitored objects are no longer isolated to afford a wide range of positions of observation points, sometimes even in urban agglomerations that greatly narrow this area and the optimization of their position is imperative required. Determination of the spatial displacement vector of the civil engineering structures monitored subjected to a complex of static and dynamic forces that do not exclude repeated cycles of seismic actions should be made with appropriate technical means to obtain high precision. Thus, cyclic measurements should be performed on the basis of which the spatial displacement vector is determined at each structure monitoring point and where the stability of the station points is checked so that the differences between the cyclical measurements are due only to changes in the position of the studied object. The optimization of these points position is the objective of this scientific paper and will be done through a measurement cycle and monitoring of the studied structure by analyzing and checking the spatial stability of the observation points. It is a viaduct located in the Eastern part of Galati. The building connects the city of Galati to the Giurgiulesti customs and represents an important access road to the Galati shipyard, being part of the category of vital civil engineering structures that require at least a regular, if not permanent, monitoring. © SGEM 2018.

A wide range of researches demonstrated that the application of nanotechnology can improve the performance of other traditional construction materials, such as concrete, steel, glass, paint, coatings, insulating materials, et. al. Noteworthy improvements in concrete strength, durability and sustainability are being achieved with considered use of metal/metal oxide nanoparticles and engineered nanoparticles (carbon nanotubes and carbon Nano-fiber), and environment-responsive anticorrosion coatings formed using Nano encapsulation techniques are showing promise in laboratory settings. The concrete is the most nanostructured multiphase worldwide fame composite material. It is composed of an amorphous phase, nanometer-to micrometer-size crystals, and bound water. Mostly the mechanical behavior of concrete materials depends on structural elements and phenomena which are effective on a micro-and nanoscale. The ability to target material modification at the nanostructural level promises to deliver the optimization of material behavior and performance needed to improve significantly the mechanical performance, volume change properties, durability and sustainability of this remarkable and wavering material. The purpose of this paper is to show the influence of different types of nanoparticles (such as Silica fume, Titanium Dioxide Nano-powder, Carbon Nanotube etc.) on the physical and mechanical properties of concrete, as well as their subsequent influence on its behavior. © 2018, International Multidisciplinary Scientific Geoconference. In last years, recycling has become a strategic factor in global politics, a vital component and a cost factor for economic development and the progress of society as a whole, generating a number of major global concerns. Exceeding twice the sum of all materials used in construction, annual concrete consumption around the world amounts to approximately 10 trillion tones being by far the most used building material and the partial or total replacement of a component of its mass with recyclable waste has a major positive impact on the world economy and implicitly on the environment. This study aims to determine the influence of fly ash and glass fiber on the compressive strength of cement concrete by using a modern Response Surface Methodology (RSM). The association of these two materials has unpredictable effects on the properties of concrete. The fly ash replaced a quantity of 10% from the cement dosage. The glass fibers were used in dosages between 0.25% and 1.75% from the concrete mass. The length of glass fiber varied between 10 mm and 35 mm. A number of 13 mixes of concrete were experimentally tested. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) gave the non-linear response surface and Pareto chars showed the importance order of variables. From statistical analysis it was concluded that an improvement of compressive strength is obtained for a concrete with 10% fly ash as replacement of cement, reinforced with disperse glass fiber with dosages between 0.4% and 1% and length of fibers bigger than 25 mm. © SGEM2017 All rights reserved.

The objective of this research is to study in laboratory’s materials such as: cationic bituminous emulsions, aggregates, fly ash, etc., in order to develop optimal and appropriate mix formula for "cold" waste asphalt recycling with the addition of slow breaking cationic bituminous emulsions, fly ash, cement and natural aggregates. The purpose of this approach is to obtain an "optimal combination" comprising the above-mentioned materials as well as the mixing of the wear layer on the surface of the road on which the recycling operation is intended. The idea of "optimum combination" means the full use of pre-existing material and new additions of minimal amounts, thus reducing costs and encouraging the idea of "reusing" old, but recyclable materials. The use of recyclable materials in construction is not just a gesture of solidarity with nature, but also a clever tactic that results in increased reuse potential. Cold recycling consists in the complete use of the resulting material by milling, degraded bituminous pavement in the addition of natural binders and aggregates and putting it into operation by means of a recycling machine.
