Along-Strike Morphologic Variations of the Kyushu-Palau Ridge at 13°-17° N and Their Tectonic Implications

The paper provides a detailed description of the topographical distribution characteristics, along-strike morphologic variations, and tectonic implications of the Kyushu-Palau Ridge (KPR) in the 13 degrees-17 degrees N regions. The description is based on multibeam bathymetric data that was recently collected in the mid-southern segment of KPR and its surrounding areas. The findings indicate that the KPR in the studied region comprises several discontinuous seamounts and seamount chains. Along the ridge running from east to west, there is significant variation in the topography of the seafloor. Visible on this ridge are numerous deep-sea depressions and apparent topographical discontinuities. Geological tectonic processes such as plate subduction and seafloor spreading largely determine the topography of the seafloor. during the beginning of the Parece Vela Basin (PVB) spreading, the pre-existing volcanic arcs fractured under east-west extensional stress, resulting in the development of prominent seamounts, sharp ridges, relief alternations, and rift basins in the KPR. The east-west stress was subsequently transmitted to the weak and inactive mid-ocean ridge in the West Philippine Basin (WPB), which was reactivated and resulted in an episode of magma-poor spreading during 30-26 Ma. This episode caused the KPR to move eastward, stretched, and destroyed its pre-existing structure.

DRL-Based Dynamic Destroy Approaches for Agile-Satellite Mission Planning

Agile-satellite mission planning is a crucial issue in the construction of satellite constellations. The large scale of remote sensing missions and the high complexity of constraints in agile-satellite mission planning pose challenges in the search for an optimal solution. To tackle the issue, a dynamic destroy deep-reinforcement learning (D3RL) model is designed to facilitate subsequent optimization operations via adaptive destruction to the existing solutions. Specifically, we first perform a clustering and embedding operation to reconstruct tasks into a clustering graph, thereby improving data utilization. Secondly, the D3RL model is established based on graph attention networks (GATs) to enhance the search efficiency for optimal solutions. Moreover, we present two applications of the D3RL model for intensive scenes: the deep-reinforcement learning (DRL) method and the D3RL-based large-neighborhood search method (DRL-LNS). Experimental simulation results illustrate that the D3RL-based approaches outperform the competition in terms of solutions' quality and computational efficiency, particularly in more challenging large-scale scenarios. DRL-LNS outperforms ALNS with an average scheduling rate improvement of approximately 11% in Area instances. In contrast, the DRL approach performs better in World scenarios, with an average scheduling rate that is around 8% higher than that of ALNS.

A High-Performance n-Type Thermoelectric Polymer from C-H/C-H Oxidative Direct Arylation Polycondensation

n-Type conjugated polymers (CPs) are crucial in the applications of organic electronics. Direct coupling of electron-deficient C-H monomer via selective C-H activation, namely C-H/C-H oxidative direct arylation polycondensation (Oxi-DArP), is an ideal approach toward such CPs. Herein, Oxi-DArP is firstly adopted to synthesize a high-performance n-type CP using a newly developed monomer, i.e., 3,6-di(thiazol-5-yl)-diketopyrrolopyrrole (Tz-5-DPP). Tz-5-DPP based homopolymer PTz-5-DPP with a molecular weight of 22 kDa has been synthesized via Oxi-DArP. After n-doping, PTz-5-DPP films exhibited electric conductivity values up to 8 S cm(-1) and power factors (PFs) up to 106 mu W m(-1) K-2. Notably, this PF value is the highest for n-type polymer thermoelectric materials to date. The Oxi-DArP synthesis and the excellent n-type performance of the polymer make this work an important step toward the straightforward and sustainable preparation of high-performance n-type polymer semiconductors.

A deep learning approach for identifying biomedical breakthrough discoveries using context analysis

Breakthrough research in scientific fields usually comes as a manifestation of major development and advancement. These advances build to an epiphany where new ways of thinking about a problem become possible. Identifying breakthrough research can be useful for cultivating and funding further innovation. This article presents a new method for identifying scientific breakthroughs from research papers based on cue words commonly associated with major advancements. We looked for specific terms signifying scientific breakthroughs in citing sentences to identify breakthrough articles. By setting a threshold for the number of citing sentences ("citances") with breakthrough cue words that peer scholars often use when evaluating research, we identified articles containing breakthrough research. We call this approach the "others-evaluation" process. We then shortlisted candidates from the selected articles based on the authors' evaluations of their own research, found in the abstracts. This we call the "self-evaluation" process. Combining the two approaches into a dual "others-self" evaluation process, we arrived at a sample of 237 potential breakthrough articles, most of which are recommended by the Faculty Opinions. Based on the breakthrough articles identified, using SVM, TextCNN, and BERT to train the models to identify abstracts with breakthrough evaluations. This automatic identification model can greatly simplify the process of others-self-evaluation process and promote identifying breakthrough research.

Virtual synchronous generator is used to control independent microgrid to provide inertia and damping support, but it often brings transient stability problems. due to the large number of nonlinear and non-smooth characteristics of highly electronic independent microgrid, it is difficult to analyze it by the traditional transient stability analysis method. In this paper, the independent microgrid controlled by virtual synchronization is taken as the object. Firstly, we compare the impact of detailed modeling of energy storage and simplified modeling on the transient stability, and then discuss the impact of current limiting link of virtual synchronous machine on the transient stability. Secondary, combined with the idea of graph neural network, we propose an independent microgrid transient stability evaluation model based on message passing graph neural network. The information corresponding to bus and transmission lines in microgrid is aggregated and updated by message passing mechanism, so as to depict the topological connection relationship of microgrid, and then consider the influence of topology structure on transient stability evaluation. Last, a WSCC-9 system with virtual synchronous machine is taken as an example. The results show that considering the energy storage detailed model and current limiting link can effectively improve the accuracy of stability analysis. The proposed method has stronger generalization ability and is more applicable to the microgrid system with variable topological structure.

Preparation of a novel dual structure graded cemented carbides induced by bidirectional diffusion

Based on the thermodynamic calculations, a novel dual graded WC-Co-Ti(C, N)-ZrC-HfC cemented carbides was designed and prepared by introducing the combination of spinodal decomposition and denitrification process. The dual graded structures of the cemented carbides have a smooth fcc-rich surface and toughness fcc-free interlayer, which can improve the coating adhesion and inhibit the cracks propagation. Microstructure characterizations and composition distributions elucidated the principle of multi-factors diffusion migration and the formation mechanism of dual structure graded layers.

Electrochemiluminescence ultrasensitive immunoassay for carbohydrate antigen 125 based on AgInS₂/ZnS nanocrystals

We developed a near-infrared (NIR) electrochemiluminescence (ECL) immunosensor for sensitively and selectively determining carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA125) with toxic-element-free and environmental-friendly AgInS2/ZnS nanocrystals (NCs) as tags. The core/shell-structured AgInS2/ZnS NCs not only can be conveniently prepared via an aqueous synthetic procedure, but also has high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of up to 61.7%, highly monodispersed, water-soluble, and desired biological compatibility. As AgInS2/ZnS NCs can be oxidized via electrochemically injecting holes into their valence band at + 0.84 V, both the monodispersed AgInS2/ZnS NCs in solution and the surface-confined AgInS2/ZnS NCs immobilized in sandwich-typed immuno-complexes with CA125 as analyte can exhibit efficient oxidative-reduction ECL around 695 nm under physiological conditions with the presence of tri-n-propylamine (TPrA). The ECL intensity from the AgInS2/ZnS NCs immobilized in sandwich-typed immuno-complexes increases linearly and selectively with an increased concentration of CA125 from 5 x 10(-6) to 5 x 10(-3) U/mL, and limit of detection (LOD) was 1 x 10(-6) U/mL (S/N = 3). This reliable platform can provide an effective detection method in the early diagnosis and treatment of ovarian cancer.

飞行器在高速飞行时,可利用自身携带的推进剂通过微孔射流实现冷却,达到主动热防护效果。但在高温非平衡流条件下,可压缩外流与微射流交汇、射流排挤/掺混/反应多过程交织,微射流冷却主导性机制和影响因素复杂。本文建立了微射流黏性壁面边界模型,开展了微射流作用下高温非平衡流场数值模拟,探讨了射流孔径、速度和孔间距对冷却效果的影响规律,发现高温非平衡流条件下推进剂微射流冷却由边界层排挤、多相催化弱化两个基本过程主导:(1)低温微射流喷出对边界层产生排挤作用,改变边界层剖面形态,降低紧邻壁面处的温度法向梯度,从而降低壁面法向导热,实现冷却;(2)低温氧分子工质微射流排挤近壁氧原子,弱化氧催化效应,导致催化热降低。参数化研究结果表明:质量流量不变,增大射流孔大小,降热率与冷却范围均下降;射流孔面积不变,增大微射流速度,降热率与冷却范围增大;质量流量不变,减小孔间距,展向平均降热率峰值减小,但孔下游冷却范围增大,呈现较均匀的冷却效果。以上研究可对未来微射流冷却主动热防护的设计与优化提供重要的理论支撑和技术参考。

Multiple pre-harvest applications of antagonist Pseudomonas fluorescens ZX induce resistance against blue and green molds in postharvest citrus fruit

The pre-harvest applications of antagonists are promising strategies to minimize various postharvest diseases. Given this, we sought to evaluate the capability of Pseudomonas fluorescens ZX in inducing resistance of postharvest citrus fruit against blue and green molds, caused by Penicillium italicum and Penicillium digitatum, respectively. Results showed that pre-treatment with P. fluorescens ZX significantly inhibited blue and green molds, generally providing stronger protection with increasing number of sprays. More specifically, three applications of the antagonist reduced disease incidence by about 47% and 41%, reduced lesion diameter by around 40% and 28%, and reduced disease index by approximately 69% and 57%, when exposed to blue and green molds, respectively. Mechanistically, these protective effects might be linked to the increased activities of superoxide dismutase, ascorbate peroxidase, peroxidase, and polyphenoloxidase, along with substantial response of phenolic acids (syringic, p-coumaric, ferulic, and sinapinic acids) and flavonoids (rutin, neohesperidin, hesperetin, sinensetin and tangeretin). P. fluorescens ZX survived well on fruit surface, and more importantly, pretreatments exhibited no negative effects on fruit quality;on the contrary, it partly improved fruit quality during postharvest storage. Collectively, these results indicated that multiple pre-harvest applications of P. fluorescens ZX are useful for control of postharvest diseases.

Process-in-Memory (PIM) has become a favorable solution for data intensive applications with its advantages of placing processing units in or near memory, reducing the movement of data between memory and processing unit. However, most recent PIM platforms have relatively large limitations in terms of computing flexibility and types of computing, and programming is complicated, which cannot provide a unified programming framework. Therefore, it becomes a challenge to deploy the code to the hardware, which severely restricts the application development on the PIM platform. This paper presents a method of code conversion based on the PIM platform, which allows users to develop applications on the PIM platform with the high-level programming language, makes the PIM platform more accessible in the development of data intensive applications.
