Output feedback model predictive control based on set-membership state estimation

In this study, a novel output feedback model predictive control based on ellipsoidal set-membership state estimation is proposed for systems with unknown but bounded external disturbances. The set-membership state estimation is utilised to estimate the current system states for the optimisation of model predictive control such that the actual states are not required. Ellipsoidal set-membership estimation guarantees that the real system state lies in the ellipsoid originated from the estimated state. The control inputs computed by solving the optimisation problem recursively regulate the system state to converge to a domain containing the origin. All the quadratic matrix inequality conditions are conservatively approximated as linear matrix inequality conditions such that the optimisation problems can be solved by using semi-definite programming. System constraints are analysed over all the prediction horizon and transformed into linear matrix inequalities for the direct incorporation into the optimisation. Simulation examples demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Set-estimation based networked model predictive control for energy management of faulty microgrids

This paper addresses the issue of power flow control for partially faulty microgrids. In microgrid control systems, faults may occur in both electrical and communication layers. This may have severe effects on the operation of microgrids. In addition, disturbances always coexist with faults in microgrids, which may further deteriorate system performance. To address the faults and disturbances simultaneously, a model predictive control (MPC) method based on set-membership estimation (SME) that transmits information via a communication network is proposed. When electrical devices are nonfunctional or communication failures occur, the corresponding system states will become unavailable. To this end, the SME method is employed to estimate the states with the existence of unknown-but-bounded process and measurement disturbances. The networked MPC method is designed to schedule the power dispatch by using the forecasts of photovoltaic (PV) generation and load demand. With these two methods, the fault-tolerant control can be achieved. Further, a deviation compensation method is proposed to compensate for the forecast errors. The effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is demonstrated through wireless communication tests using Raspberry Pis. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Interannual to decadal variation of spring sea level anomaly in the western South China Sea

Satellite observations of sea level anomalies(SLA) from January 1993 to December 2012 are used to investigate the interannual to decadal changes of the boreal spring high SLA in the western South China Sea(SCS) using the Empirical Orthogonal Function(EOF) method. We find that the SLA variability has two dominant modes. The Sea Level Changing Mode(SLCM) occurs mainly during La Ni?a years, with high SLA extension from west of Luzon to the eastern coast of Vietnam along the central basin of the SCS, and is likely induced by the increment of the ocean heat content. The Anticyclonic Eddy Mode(AEM) occurs mainly during El Ni?o years and appears to be triggered by the negative wind curl anomalies within the central SCS. In addition, the spring high SLA in the western SCS experienced a quasi-decadal change during 1993–2012; in other words, the AEM predominated during 1993–1998 and 2002–2005, while the La Ni?a-related SLCM prevailed during 1999–2001 and 2006–2012. Moreover, we suggest that the accelerated sea level rise in the SCS during 2005–2012 makes the SLCM the leading mode over the past two decades.

Drill rods are core components to transmit the power in drilling machines such as raise bore machine, petroleum drilling rig and geological exploration rigs. Owing to its importance and high cost, it is very essential to find out the influence regularity of the torque and axial tension on the rotary shouldered joints. This work carried out actual measurement and analysis of the strain distribution and load of the buttress thread joints. Hereafter, in order to improve the uneven distribution of loading forces, the heights of front threads are reduced. Experimental measurement indicated that the improved structure had enabled the load distribution among threads more uniform, that the roots of the last lap thread suffered a 30% load reduction. This research helped to improve the quality of drill rods connection and provided experimental reference for the popularization and application of buttress thread joints in raise bore machines.

A Framework of Linear Sensor Networks with Unmanned Aerial Vehicle for Rainfall-Induced Landslides Detection

This paper proposes a real-time monitoring framework for a landslide susceptibility area based on wireless sensor network using multiple Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). Many researchers have considered building a landslide susceptibility map to distinguish different levels of landslide susceptible zones. However, to prevent damage from landslides, it is more important for the disaster control center to identify the time and location of the landslide occurrence in those highly susceptible areas. Hence, a rain-triggered landslide monitoring system is proposed herein for local mountain areas. First, a wireless sensor network framework is constructed to inform the control center as immediately as possible when landslides occur. Second, multiple UAV sensors will be responsible for collecting the stereo images of the slope in highly sensitive zones on schedule. Based on the stereo images and the binocular model, in-depth information can be obtained. With the depth information and Speeded Up Robust Features (SURF) detection, the key point characteristic information is constructed as the input data for Support Vector Machine (SVM). An SVM algorithm is designed with Python program language and executed in real time. Using this algorithm, the real-time images collected by UAVs and the landslide warning information will be sent to the control center for further analysis. Finally, a field experiment is conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

目的探讨不同方式肠内营养支持联合人性化护理对急诊重症监护室(EICU)创伤性脑损伤患者临床疗效的影响。方法选择蚌埠医学院第一附属医院急诊外科EICU于2020年1月至2021年10月收治的60例重症创伤性脑损伤(TBI)患者作为研究对象,按照随机数表法分为对照组和观察组,每组各30例。对照组患者给予EICU常规护理联合肠内营养(经鼻空肠营养管)一次性输注疗法,观察组患者给予肠内营养泵输注联合人性化护理。比较两组患者住院护理期间护理有效率、护理满意度、不良反应发生率、Barthel(BI)指数评分、格拉斯哥昏迷量表(GCS)评分、EICU停留时间、住院时间、微型营养评定法(MNA)指标及停用肠内营养时血清蛋白水平。结果与对照组比较,观察组护理效率和护理满意度水平显著高于对照组(P<0.05);与对照组比较,观察组患者血清总蛋白、血清前白蛋白和血清白蛋白水平显著升高(P<0.05);与对照组比较,观察组患者不良反应总发生率显著降低(P<0.05);与对照组比较,观察组患者BI指数评分和GCS评分显著提高(P<0.05);与对照组比较,观察组EICU停留时间及住院时间均明显缩短(P<0.05);与对照组比较,观察组患者MNA营养评价评分在第1、2和3周显著提高(P<0.05)。结论人性化护理联合肠内营养泵可显著改善EICU创伤性脑损伤患者蛋白水平、降低不良反应发生率、改善预后、提高护理有效率和护理满意度,值得大力推广。

This paper is concerned with cyber attack detection problem in a platoon-based vehicular networked control system. In such a system, the information among vehicles is transmitted through a shared wireless communication network and also each vehicle has access to its own information measured by local sensors. These kind of systems are highly vulnerable to cyber attacks and therefore, cyber-security issues need to be properly addressed to ensure the safety of the systems. Among various cyber-security aspects, reliable attack detection is of utmost importance as the ability to detect cyber attacks in a timely manner can reduce the damage to the systems. Therefore, we present a cyber attack detection algorithm that is capable of detecting attacks violating both measurements and control command data. This algorithm is based on an ellipsoidal set-membership filtering approach which consists of two sets: prediction ellipsoid set and an estimation ellipsoid set calculated through updating the prediction ellipsoid set with the measurement data. The detection method depends on the existence of intersection between these two sets computed by the filter. Simulation results for some possible cyber attacks are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

This paper is concerned with distributed model predictive control for a discrete-time target linear system over a controller communication network with switching topology. The global system is decomposed into N subsystems and N optimization problems are solved in parallel to minimize an upper bound on a robust performance objective by using a state-feedback controller for each subsystem. The considered topology evolution of the control network is assumed to be subject to a Markov chain. An extended cone complementarity linearization method (CCLM) is used to solve the constrained linear matrix inequality (CLMI) and a Bisection method based iterative algorithm is adopted to find the optimal solution. Simulation results illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
