Regulation of Maleic Anhydride Selectivity for n-Butane Oxidation by Sb2O3-Modified Vanadium Phosphorus Oxide Catalysts

Maleic anhydride (MA) is a significant chemical raw material to produce industrial products. Vanadium phosphorus oxide (VPO) catalyst is considered an excellent catalyst for the selective oxidation of n-butane to prepare MA. However, MA selectivity is still limited by the complex crystalline phases and morphological characteristics of VPO catalysts. Herein, orthorhombic Sb2O3 was proposed as a structural directing agent and electronic promoting agent to modify the VPO catalyst. The relationship between the structure and the catalytic performance was systematically investigated to reveal the effect of orthorhombic Sb2O3. Physical characterizations reveal the introduced orthorhombic Sb2O3 greatly contributes to improving the active phases and inhibiting the disadvantageous delta-VOPO4 phase. Besides, the active phase and surface chemical properties of the VPO catalyst are effectively regulated, which is beneficial to the selective oxidation of n-butane. As expected, the optimal 1Sb(2)O(3)-O@VPO catalyst demonstrates considerable n-butane conversion, MA selectivity, and MA yield. This work should open a feasible way to prepare efficient VPO catalysts for industrial catalysis.

Pt single atoms catalysts with precise coordination environment and high stability are expected to achieve high performance of propane dehydrogenation(PDH).In this work,an innovative synthetic strategy is proposed to construct the S-1@0.1Pt9Zn@DPS-1 nanocomposite as a highly efficient PDH *** engineering is applied to induce the formation of defective porous silicalite-1(DPS-1),which is favorable for achieving the uniformly distributed ZnO *** ZnO nanoclusters were further served as anchoring sites to stabilize the isolated Pt *** structural characterization revealed that penta-O coordinated Pt single atom coupled with ZnO nanoclusters decorated on the ***,the atomically dispersed Pt atoms with the ideal coordination environment could act as the predominant active sites for PDH *** expected,the optimal S-1@0.1Pt9Zn@DPS-1 catalyst delivered an excellent PDH performance(propane conversion of 40.7%,propylene selectivity of 97.5%)and good cycling regeneration *** work provides a new way for improving the activity and stability of catalysts in the field of industrial catalysts.

Reliability and Stability Improvement of MOS Capacitors via Nitrogen-Hydrogen Mixed Plasma Pretreatment for SiC Surfaces

We investigated the effect of nitrogen-hydrogen (NH) mixed plasma pretreatment of 4H-SiC surfaces on SiC surface properties, SiO2/SiC interface quality, and the reliability and voltage stability of metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) capacitors. The NH plasma pretreatment decreased the incomplete oxide and contaminants on the SiC surface and reduced the density of SiO2/SiC interface traps. Compared with the untreated sample, the dielectric insulating characteristics and reliability of samples pretreated by NH plasma were improved. We also demonstrated that the shift/hysteresis of the flat band voltage (Vfb) and the midgap voltage (Vmg) induced by bias temperature stress for SiC MOS capacitors after NH plasma pretreatment was significantly decreased. Furthermore, the mechanisms of NH plasma pretreat-ment to improve interface properties and device performances were determined by combining secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) measurements, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and first-principles calculations. The result indicates that the excessive oxidation at the SiO2/SiC interface was limited due to the reduction in the diffusion of oxygen atoms into SiC caused by the surface Si-H and Si-N;NH plasma pretreatment suppressed the generation of interfacial traps by reducing surface pollutants and passivating surface defects, and some N atoms introduced into the SiO2/SiC interface effectively passivated the interfacial electroactive traps.

Effects of Ga addition on the microstructure and mechanical performance of Sn-58Bi based alloys and the solder joints

In the research, 0.5 wt. % Ga were added in Sn-58Bi solder to investigate the effect of Ga addition on the microstructure and mechanical performance of Sn-58Bi based solders and corresponding solder joints. Elemental analysis of Ga-bearing bulk solder confirms the existence of solid solution Ga in beta-Sn matrix and network alpha-Ga phase. The result of tensile test and post-test fracture surface analysis indicates that Ga addition improves the ultimate tensile strength, however, it depletes the plasticity by the precipitation of alpha-Ga phase with low melting point. With 0.5 wt. % Ga addition, the eutectic structure was much refined and the interfacial product changes from traditional scallop-like Cu6Sn5 layer to smooth Cu9Ga4 IMCs. In addition, the shear strength of Sn-58Bi solder joint was effectively improved by Ga addition due to the refinement strengthening of solder matrix and the improvement of interfacial IMC morphology. The shear fracture path changes from transgranular fracture in Cu6Sn5 layer to interfacial fracture between solder and Cu9Ga4 IMC layer.

Preparation and properties of electrochemically assisted electroless Ni-P-TiO2-NG composite coatings

Inspired by NG/TiO2 composite reinforcing particles in the Ni-P matrix, an electrochemically assisted electroless deposition method was used to deposit Ni-P-TiO2-NG composite coatings on steel substrates in order to enhance their electrochemical and photocatalytic properties. The effects of current density on the microstructure, surface morphology and phase composition of the coatings were investigated. Statistical analysis based on multifractal formalism shows that the uniformity of the height distribution shows an increasing and then a decreasing trend as the current density increases. The results show that the average hardness reached a maximum value of 966 H-V0.1 for the optimum coating obtained at a current density of 4 A dm(-2), the corrosion current reached a minimum value of 2.041 x 10(-5) A cm(-2), with a maximum corrosion potential of -0.281 V vs. SCE. These improvements can be attributed to high phosphorus Ni-P composite coatings with smooth and dense morphology, TiO2/NG nanocomposite impermeability and excellent mechanical properties. In addition, the photocatalytic activity of the Ni-P-TiO2-NG coating gradually increases with increasing current density.

Interfacial IMC growth behavior of Sn-3Ag-3Sb-xIn solder on Cu substrate

PurposeThe reliability of solder joints is closely related to the growth of an intermetallic compound (IMC) layer between the lead-free solder and substrate interface. This paper aims to investigate the growth behavior of the interfacial IMC layer during isothermal aging at 125 degrees C for Sn-3Ag-3Sb-xIn/Cu (x = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Wt.%) solder joints with different In contents and commercial Sn-3Ag-0.5Cu/Cu solder ***/methodology/approachIn this paper, Sn-3Ag-3Sb-xIn/Cu (x = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Wt.%) and commercial Sn-3Ag-0.5Cu/Cu solder were prepared for bonding Cu substrate. Then these samples were subjected to isothermal aging for 0, 2, 8, 14, 25 and 45 days. Scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy were used to analyze the soldering interface reaction and the difference in IMC growth behavior during the isothermal aging *** the concentration of In in the Sn-3Ag-3Sb-xIn/Cu solder joints exceeded 2 Wt.%, a substantial amount of InSb particles were produced. These particles acted as a diffusion barrier, impeding the growth of the IMC layer at the interface. The growth of the Cu3Sn layer during the aging process was strongly correlated with the presence of In. The growth rate of the Cu3Sn layer was significantly reduced when the In concentration exceeded 3 Wt.%.Originality/valueThe addition of In promotes the formation of InSb particles in Sn-3Ag-3Sb-xIn/Cu solder joints. These particles limit the growth of the total IMC layer, while a higher In content also slows the growth of the Cu3Sn layer. This study is significant for designing alloy compositions for new high-reliability solders.

Shake Table Testing of Masonry Infilled Chuandou Timber Frame Strengthened Using a Simple, Inexpensive Approach

The seismic performance of traditional Chuandou timber frame structures having masonry infill is investigated through one-half scale shake table testing. First, the vulnerability of infilled Chuandou frames to out-of-plane collapse of the masonry infill is demonstrated. In view of this weakness, a novel low-cost seismic strengthened method based on flat steel strips and clasp nails was proposed and demonstrated. Results showed that masonry infilled Chuandou timber frames exhibit the dynamic characteristics of masonry structures when subject to low and moderate seismic excitation, and the dynamic characteristics of timber frames at high seismic excitation. The proposed strengthening method was demonstrated to improve the seismic performance of the infilled timber frame. Despite lateral drifts exceeding the recommended maximum value of 1/30, the timber frames themselves exhibited excellent performance with little evidence of distress to the vulnerable mortise-and-tenon connections.

Blockchain storage platforms reward storage nodes for keeping user-uploaded data for a certain amount of time. These storage nodes are unstable and can go online or offline unpredictably at any time, leading to potential data loss. To prevent data loss, blockchain storage platforms adopt erasure codes on user-uploaded encrypted data. Data repair processes will be performed to recover the lost data. However, the data repair processes heavily rely on time-consuming erasure coding algorithms, mainly consisting of vector-matrix multiplications. The emerging processing-in-memory technique can efficiently speed up the processing of vector-matrix multiplications. It can be integrated into blockchain storage platforms to solve the data repair issue. This paper presents Rapper, a parameter-aware repair-inmemory accelerator for blockchain storage platforms. Rapper utilizes the computing power of emerging processing-in-memory architecture so that data repair processes can be processed in a parallel manner and the overall efficiency can be improved significantly. Specifically, at the hardware level, the ReRAM memory is reorganized into our proposed double bank, XRU, XGroup, and ReRAM crossbars structure. At the software level, a parallel decoding/encoding strategy is proposed to fully exploit the internal parallelism of ReRAM. We also propose an adaptive parameter-aware mapping to handle various sizes of stripes. To demonstrate the viability of the proposed technique, a representative blockchain storage project Storj is adopted as the default storage infrastructure. Experimental results show that Rapper can achieve a 1.96x speedup on average compared to the representative scheme.

Analysis of the effect of keeper working conditions on hollow cathode performance

Hollow cathodes are widely used in electric thrusters due to their high emission electron density and low maintained voltage. The hollow cathode performance may significantly change under different keeper working conditions. In this study, a series of ground experiments were carried out to study the effects of the keeper current and the distance between keeper and cathode top on the emission characteristics and plume structure of the hollow cathode. The experimental results show that the working state of the keeper electronic circuit is less likely to be disturbed by the anode electronic circuit when the ratio of keeper current to anode current rises up. The plasma potential does not always rise up with the emission current in the far-field (>6 cm) when the keeper current is not high (<3 A). The extend of the distance between keeper and cathode top forms a high obstacle to the anode electronic circuit, this obstacle not only causes an increase of anode voltage, but also leads to a significant discharge instability of hollow cathode. In this case, a higher keeper current and xenon flow rate are required to keep a stable working state of hollow cathodes. The experimental results contribute to research on the discharge instability mechanism of hollow cathodes and provide useful information for instructing hollow cathode design.

PurposeThis study aims to investigate the impact of indium (In) content on the thermal properties, microstructure and mechanical properties of Sn-3Ag-3Sb-xIn (x = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Wt.%) solders to enhance the performance of tin-based solder under demanding conditions and to meet the urgent need for high-reliability microelectronic interconnection materials in emerging sectors such as automotive intelligent technology, 5G communication technology and high-performance ***/methodology/approachIn this study, Sn-3Ag-3Sb-xIn solder alloys were prepared. The thermal properties of the solder alloys were characterised by differential scanning calorimetry. Subsequently, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and an electron probe X-ray microanalyser were used to analyse the influence of the In content on the microstructure of the solder. The mechanical properties of solder alloys were determined through tensile *** the In content increased, the melting temperature of the Sn-3Ag-3Sb-xIn solder decreased, accompanied by less nucleation undercooling and an expanded melting range. The incorporation of In led to an enhancement in the yield and tensile strengths of the Sn-3Ag-3Sb-xIn solder alloys, but with a concomitant decrease in plasticity. In comparison to commercial Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu solder alloys, the yield strength and tensile strength of the Sn-3Ag-3Sb-3In alloy increased by 8.64 and 21.69 MPa, respectively, while the elongation decreased by 11.48%.Originality/valueSn-3Ag-3Sb-3In solder alloy was the most appropriate and expected comprehensive properties. The enhancements will provide substantial assistance and precise data references for the interconnection requirements in high-strength interconnection fields, such as automotive intelligent technology, 5G communication technology and high-performance computing.
