Vibration generated by the large power transformer has a harmful effect on the surrounding buildings and environment as a consequence of structure-borne propagation or air noise, and impacts on the stability and service life of precision machinery within the substation. Now, the study of vibration of transformer and related vibration isolation technology has attracted more and more attention by power supply departments and relevant transformer manufacturing enterprises. To decrease the transformer vibration. This paper investigated the ON-OFF controller for transfornrer vibration isolation system. Firstly, the performance of the vertical magnetorheological elastomer (MRE) isolator is evaluated by sweep frequency test. Then ON-OFF controller designed and applied to control isolator. Finally, numerical simulations with multi-frequency excitations are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the controller. The ON-OFF controller and passive controller are compared at base and the bottom of transformer in response displacement to demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of ON-OFF controller.

Vibration generated by large power transformer will produce environmental vibration and noise pollution through solid spread or airborne transmission. Based on the vibration analysis of the transformer, a vertical smart vibration isolator comprised of magnetorhcological elastomer (MRE) was developed, and its dynamic performance was tested and analyzed. The results revealed that the maximum increase of the effective stiffness is 333.58% with the current increasing from 0 A to 1.5 A. Besides, the simulation experiments of integrated transformer-isolator-base isolation system were carried out by using the semi-active fuzzy logic controller (PLC). Simulation results showed that the acceleration response is reduced by 26.7% at most, which verifies the effectiveness of designed semi-active PLC. Besides the intrinsic importance for contributing to the smart vibration control of transformer system, this research may offer a reference for other semi-active vibration isolation systems.

Tailored information display: Effects of background colour and line spacing on visual search across different character types - An eye-tracking study

In the era of expanding digital information, optimizing display factors has become increasingly critical for human-computer interaction. However, the broader impacts of background colour and line spacing on interfaces with different character types, under controlled luminance contrast remain underexplored. This study investigates the effects of background colour and line spacing on search performance, eye-tracking metrics, and subjective reports across English, Chinese, and numerals in controlled luminance conditions using a pseudo-text visual search task. Findings reveal the distinct impacts and mechanisms for each character type. Red background significantly hindered search performance, particularly in English, while cyan improved accuracy and subjective ratings across all characters. Colour difference emerged as a critical determinant of visual comfort, and its influence is moderated by pupil diameter. Double line spacing provided an optimal balance between search performance and minimizing eye movement effort, further increases in line spacing impair search speed, especially in numerals. Fixation duration and fixation count mediated the effects of line spacing on legibility in numerals and English, respectively. These findings offer actionable insights for optimizing interfaces with different character types and highlight the need to explore further how display factors contribute to visual experience in complex scripts.

As people pay more and more attention to the environmental noise problem of substations, it is an important environmental protection work to carry out noise control of over-subjected substation. According to the lack of strict scientific argumentation, poor engineering control effect and high project cost, the paper proposes an accurate control model for outdoor substation noise. Taking the actual substation as an example, with the development of the substation environmental noise analysis system software SENCS, through six steps of data collection, model verification, pre-treatment analysis, optimization of governance plan and analysis of management effects, it is proposed the model of precise control of outdoor substation, which can play an important guiding role in outdoor substation noise control and new substation planning and design.. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2020.

The classical geometrical theory of diffraction is not available for simulating multiple diffractions in wave propagation. To improve the simulating accuracy for multiple diffractions, a multiple acoustic diffraction simulating method based on ray iteration tracing is proposed in this paper. In this method, the ray occurring at the edge of the wall is split into multiple sub-rays. Then, these sub-rays are continually traced based on the classical ray-tracing theory. The numerical verification demonstrates that this method is valid for simulating multiple diffractions. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Bauxite residue contains about 5%-10% silica, easily dissolves and forms silica gel during acid leaching. This increases the difficulty of sample handling and solid-liquid separation. In this paper, the formation mechanism of silica gel and its influence on the mineral dissolution during bauxite residue acid leaching were investigated. The results revealed that the preferential dissolution of alkaline minerals released silicon, leading to the formation of silica gel. The formation of silica gel mainly hindered the further dissolution of hematite, but had little impact on other phases in the bauxite residue. The silica gel exhibited a strong affinity for the hematite, and most of the them wrapped around the surface of the hematite, blocking its contact with hydrochloric acid.

In recent years, as China's urbanization process has accelerated, the load on the power supply has increased, and many substations have been built in cities where the population is concentrated. While the construction of substations in cities eases the pressure on urban power supply, it also causes serious noise pollution in urban areas. In order to effectively control the noise pollution from substations, it is necessary to accurately measure and evaluate the noise inside the substation and the surrounding areas. However, in urban conditions, there are traffic noise, environmental noise and other background noise interference, resulting in the sample noise contains multiple signals. Therefore, the separation of substation noise and background noise in the noise measurement process will be very conducive to making an accurate estimate of the propagation of substation noise. To address this problem, this paper proposes a substation noise extraction model that combines spectral subtraction and variational modal decomposition. The model performs distributed sampling at the main sound sources of the substation and in the surrounding noise-sensitive areas. Then, non-stationary noise is removed using spectral subtraction. Finally, the remaining signal is decomposed using the variational modal method. The decomposed signals are analysed for correlation with the sampled signals at the substation to determine the proportion of substation noise in the mixed signals for substation noise extraction. Experimental verifications show that this method can effectively extract the substation noise components in the sampled signals from noise-sensitive places. The distribution of power frequency electric field caused by super-high level power transmission engineering is an important issue in evaluation of electromagnetic environment problem. The calculation of this field around power transmission facilities in complex environment using Charge Simulation Method (CSM) is sometimes out of action for the reason of not enough RAM. This paper put forward a domain decomposition CSM. This method divided the calculation region into several subdomains with some overlapped parts at the border first. Then CSM is applied to these subdomains respectively to get the distribution of simulation charges. The impact of the adjacent domain (boundary problem) is solved by using iterative method. Finally, the distribution of electric field in different domains can be calculated respectively with simulation charges obtained inside its own domain. This method is verified and it is applied to the analysis of power frequency electric field around 500kV transformers in 500kV substation. The results indicate that this method can speed up the calculation and decrease the requirement of RAM. This method provides an effective way to analyze the distribution of power frequency electric field with complex environment.

As the geometric configuration and physical model of HVDC transmission lines become more complex, the solver increasingly becomes a performance bottleneck in research on ion flow field problems. The preconditioner is a key component for the performance of iterative solvers. Although the algebraic multigrid method is proven to be an optimal preconditioner for elliptic equations, it results in significant stability issues when applied to convection-dominated transport equations. In this work, the algebraic multigrid method employing an approximate ideal restriction operator is applied to solve the transport equation arising in ion flow field problems. Compared to the classical algebraic multigrid method, the Petrov-Galerkin algebraic multigrid method demonstrates good performance in solving the transport equation for ion flow field simulations. This improvement helps address the large-scale electromagnetic environment issues of HVDC transmission lines. © The Institution of Engineering & Technology 2024.

Artificial intelligence technology has developed rapidly, and inspection robots have been increasingly applied to the inspection work of substations. The electromagnetic environment of the substation is complex, and whether the inspection robot can work normally in a complex electromagnetic environment is a problem worthy of attention. Therefore, this paper establishes an inspection robot model to explore the electric field distribution of the inspection robot during substation operation. The Charge Simulation Method is suitable for the calculation of open domain, and the Finite Element Method is suitable fir the calculation of complex boundary problems. Combining the advantages of the two, this paper uses the mixed calculation of Finite Element Method and Charge Simulation method to analyze the electric field distribution around the inspection robot when it's working. The results of computation show that the electric field around each device is distorted, and the electric field distortion around the top device is the most serious.
