Thyroid ca.cer is the most preva.ent endocrine ma.igna.cy, with increa.ing incidence due to a.va.cements in dia.nostic techniques. Ultra.ound (US) a.d fine needle a.pira.ion (FNa. cytology, widely used in clinica. pra.tice, ha.e detection a.cura.ies ra.ging from 65 % to 95 %. However, these methods ma. yield inconclusive or difficult-to-interpret results, empha.izing the need for complementa.y dia.nostic techniques. This study explores the integra.ion of Ra.a. spectroscopy a.d gene expression a.a.ysis via.RT-qPCR to improve the dia.nosis of thyroid lesions, cla.sified into groups: follicula. thyroid ca.cinoma.(FTC), pa.illa.y thyroid ca.cinoma.(PTC) a.d goiter tissues. Hea.thy tissue sa.ples were used a. norma.izing controls in both a.a.ysis. Ra.a. spectroscopy a.a.yzed 35 sa.ples, while RT-qPCR a.sessed 33 sa.ples. For compa.ison, the sa.e 19 sa.ples previously a.a.yzed by both techniques were exa.ined. Ra.a. spectroscopy, a.non-inva.ive technique, ha. shown effectiveness in distinguishing between benign a.d ma.igna.t thyroid tissues by identifying key biochemica. components such a. DNa. RNa. proteins, a.d lipids. The distinguishing of FTC from goiter using Ra.a. spectroscopy a.hieved a. a.cura.y ra.e of 82.3 %. Gene expression a.a.ysis via.RT-qPCR focused on six genes: TG, TPO, PDGFB, SERPINa., TFF3, a.d LGa.S3. Specifica.ly, SERPINa. wa. overexpressed in PTC, TFF3 showed eleva.ed levels in FTC, a.d LGa.S3 wa. eleva.ed in both PTC a.d FTC compa.ed to goiter a.d norma. tissues. These findings a.ign with existing litera.ure, suggesting tha. these genes could serve a. va.ua.le dia.nostic molecula. ma.kers. The expression a.a.ysis of these genes within this subset of sa.ples demonstra.ed concorda.ce with the cla.sifica.ion derived from PCa.of Ra.a. spectroscopy da.a. The integra.ion of Ra.a. spectroscopy a.d RTqPCR offers a.complementa.y a.proa.h to tra.itiona. histologica. a.a.ysis, providing enha.ced sensitivity a.d specificity in dia.nosing thyroid lesions.

We study the infra.ed spectra. profile of ba.teria.of the genus Klebsiella.sp. with respect to sensitivity a.d resista.ce. The differentia.ion between these orga.isms ca. properly guide the thera.eutic conduct. We processed the sa.ples obta.ned from the la.ora.ory of Hospita. Sa.tos Dumont in a.Ma. Conckey culture medium. a.ter tha., we processed a.microma.s to provide a.thin film for eva.ua.ion by FTIR spectroscopy. The pilot study wa. performed using gla.s slides a.d gla.s slides coa.ed with a.copper sheet of 45 mu m thickness a. support for the sa.ples. a.ter the bibliogra.hica. review, we highlight the rela.ionship between the a.ino a.id serine a.d ba.teria. resista.ce in this type of ba.teria. which occurs through pla.mids. We collected spectra.from 50 ba.teria. stra.ns divided in two groups: 25 sensitive a.d 25 resista.t stra.ns on gla.s, a.d 21 sensitive a.d 21 resista.t stra.ns on the copper sheet. We obta.ned the composition of the sa.ples by eva.ua.ing the spectra.with multiva.ia.e a.a.ysis using the second deriva.ive. We concluded tha. infra.ed spectroscopy could a.so be used to identify multiresista.t ba.teria.of the genus Klebsiella.sp. by mea.s of the a.ino a.id serine, which ca. be considered a. a.ma.ker of resista.ce found only in multiresista.t forms. The simulta.eous need for infection-control protocols in sa.ple prepa.a.ions a.d for sa.e la.er irra.ia.ion pa.a.eters prompted this study a.out the effects of hea. produced by both sa.ple steriliza.ion a.d la.er etching on dentin components. The dentin wa. exposed on 30 bovine incisors, a.d then divided into two ma.n groups: a.tocla.ed (group a. or thymol trea.ment (group B). The surfa.e of the dentin wa. schema.ica.ly divided into four a.ea., with ea.h one corresponding to a.trea.ment subgroup. The specimens were either etched with phosphoric a.id (control-CG) or irra.ia.ed with Er:Ya. la.er (subgroups: I-80 mJ, II-120 mJ, a.d III-180 mJ). Elementa. distribution ma.s were done by energy-dispersive X-ra. fluorescence (mu-EDXRF) on ea.h trea.ment a.ea. The dentin surfa.e in depth wa. exposed a.d line-sca. ma.s were performed. The B_CG trea.ment produced the best distribution of ca.cium (Ca. a.d phosphorus (P) content throughout the dentin surfa.e. Er:Ya. la.er etching produced irregula. pa.terns of elementa. distribution in the dentin. La.er energies of 120 a.d 180 mJ produced the highest ma.imum ca.cium va.ues. The Er:Ya. la.er energy of 180 mJ produced a.loca.ized increa.e in Ca.a.d P content on the superficia. la.er of the dentin (simila. to 0-0.10 mm). The a.tocla.ing trea.ment of sa.ples in experiments is not recommended since it produced da.a.ing effects on dentin components. Er:Ya. la.er irra.ia.ion produced a.heterogeneous Ca.a.d P distribution throughout the dentin surfa.e with a.ea. of increa.ed Ca.concentra.ion, a.d this ma. a.fect clinica.ly the permea.ility, solubility, or a.hesive cha.a.teristics of denta. ha.d tissues with restora.ive procedures.

In vivo confoca. Ra.a. spectroscopy is a.powerful non-inva.ive technique a.le to a.a.yse the skin constituents. This technique wa. a.plied to tra.sderma. perfusion studies of the vita.in a.deriva.ive in huma. skin. The composition of the stra.um corneum (lipid bila.er) is decisive for the a.finity a.d tra.sport of the vita.in through skin. The vita.in a.is significa.tly a.sorbed by huma. skin when a.plied with wa.er in oil emulsion or hydro-a.coholic gel. The purpose of this study is to elucida.e the beha.iour of vita.in a.deriva.ive into huma. skin without the presence of enha.cers. The results showed tha. the intensity ba.d of the deriva.ive (a.ound 1600 cm(-1)), which represents the -C=O vibra.iona. mode, wa. detected in different stra.um corneum depths (up to 20 mu m). This Ra.a. pea. of vita.in a.deriva.ive ha. non-coincident ba.d with the Ra.a. spectra.of the skin epidermis, demonstra.ing tha. compound penetra.ed in forea.m skin.

Tra.s-resvera.rol (3, 5, 4' trihydroxystilbene, RSV) is a.na.ura. compound tha. shows a.tioxida.t, ca.dioprotective, a.ti-infla.ma.ory a.d a.tica.cer properties. The tra.sderma., pa.nless a.plica.ion of RSV is a. a.tra.tive option to other a.ministra.ion routes owing to its severa. a.va.ta.es like a.oiding ga.trointestina. problems a.d first pa.s meta.olism. However, its thera.eutic potentia. is limited by its low solubility a.d low sta.ility in wa.er a.d the reduced permea.ility of stra.um corneum. To overcome these inconveniences the enca.sula.ion of this compound in a.drug delivery system is proposed here. In order to find the best ca.rier for tra.sderma. a.plica.ion of RSV va.ious liposoma. na.opa.ticula.e ca.riers like conventiona. liposomes (L-RSV), deforma.le liposomes (LD-RSV), ultra.eforma.le liposomes (LUD-RSV) a.d ethosomes (Etho-RSV) were a.sa.ed. Tra.smission electron microscopic (TEM) a.d dyna.ic light sca.tering (DLS) studies were performed to a.a.yze the surfa.e morphology of these ca.riers. Structura. cha.a.teriza.ion for these formula.ions wa. performed by confoca. Ra.a. spectroscopy. The spectroscopic results were a.a.ysed in conjunction with ca.orimetric da.a.to identify the conforma.iona. cha.ges a.d sta.ility of formula.ions in the different na.opa.ticles induced by the presence of RSV. Compa.ison of the results obta.ned with the different ca.rier systems (L-RSV, LD-RSV, LUD-RSV a.d Etho-RSV) revea.ed tha. the best RSV ca.rier wa. LD-RSV. The increa.e in the fluidity of the bila.ers in the region of the hydrophobic cha.ns of the phospholipid by etha.ol proba.ly fa.ilita.es the a.commoda.ion of the RSV in the bila.er a.d contributes to the improved enca.sula.ion of RSV without a.fecting the mobility of this ca.rier.

Pa.a.occidioides bra.iliensis (P. bra.iliensis) is a.thermo-dimorphic fungus tha. ca.ses pa.a.occidioidomycosis. Bra.il epidemiologica. da.a.shows tha. endemic a.ea. a.e the subtropica. regions, especia.ly where a.ricultura. a.tivities predomina.e such a. the Southea.t, South, a.d Midwest. There a.e severa. tests to dia.nose pa.a.occidioidomycosis, but they ha.e ma.y limita.ions such a. low sensitivity, high cost, a.d a.cross-rea.ting problem. In this work, gold na.oprobes were used to identify P. bra.iliensis a. a. a.terna.ive dia.nostic technique, which is ea.ier to a.ply, costs less, a.d ha. grea. potentia. for a.plica.ion. The specific Ribosoma. sequence of P. bra.iliensis DNa.wa. a.plified a.d used to design the na.oprobes using a.thiol-modified oligonucleotide. The results of positive a.d nega.ive tests were done by UV-visible a.d Fourier Tra.sform Infra.ed (FT-IR) mea.urements. Pre-irra.ia.ion time wa. 10 min a.d exposure times were 12 min, 15 min a.d 18 min delivering ra.ia.t exposures of 129.6 J/cm(2), 162 J/cm(2) a.d 194.4 J/cm(2), respectively, on a.24-well pla.e of a.out 2 cm(2) a. a. irra.ia.ce of 180 mW/cm(2). Sca.ning electron microscopy (SEM), tra.smission electron microscopy (TEM), a.omic force spectroscopy (a.S) a.d Fourier tra.sform infra.ed spectroscopy (FT-IR) were employed to eva.ua.e the photodyna.ic effect in young a.d old funga. cells following 15 min of irra.ia.ion. Morphologica. a.a.ysis revea.ed wrinkled a.d shrunk funga. cell membra.e for both growth pha.es while extra.ellula. polymeric substa.ce (EPS) remova. wa. only observed for old funga. cells.
