Evaluating the effects of bifurcation angle on the perform.nce of a novel heat exchanger based on contractual theory

In this study, num.rical and experim.ntal analysis is presented to study the influences of bifurcation angles on the therm.-hydraulic perform.nce in a novel heat exchanger by adopting contractual theory. The param.ters of overall heat transfer coefficient, exergy efficiency, pressure drop, and coefficient of perform.nce are investigated with three bifurcation angles (alpha = 120o, 150o, 180o). The m.ss flow rate in shell side is constant at 0.33 kg/s whereas the m.ss flow rates in tubes fluctuate from.0.169 to 0.331 kg/s. The num.rical m.del was accom.lished and the num.rical results were validated by the experim.ntal results and the error percentages are agreeable. The results show that the novel configurations of the heat exchanger based on constructed theory enhance heat transfer com.ared to standard shapes. The bifurcation angle of 150o accom.lishes the highest enhancem.nt of heat transfer whereas the heat exchanger with a bifurcation angle of 180o has the highest pressure drop. The configuration with alpha = 150o achieves higher values of COP com.ared to the other angles. The exergy efficiency im.roves with Re where the configuration with alpha = 180o has higher exergy efficiency. The contours, stream.ines, and vectors of the tem.erature, velocity, and pressure distributions give investigation for the fluid stream.inside the shell and tubes.

High-Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) is the m.st recent video codec standard. It is substantial to analyze the HEVC steganography process due to its practical and academ.c significance. Thus, a secure HEVC steganography approach is introduced in this paper to study the possibility of hiding an encrypted secret audio m.ssage within a cover com.ressed video fram. in a secure and com.licated m.nner. In the prelim.nary stage, the secret audio m.ssage is com.ressed utilizing the Discrete Cosine Transform.(DCT) to achieve a high capacity perform.nce for the HEVC steganography process. After that, the suggested approach im.lies two-cascaded encryption layers to encrypt the com.ressed secret m.ssage before em.edding it within a cover HEVC fram.. In the first encryption layer, a novel encryption technique based on random.projection and Legendre sequence in the Discrete Wavelet Transform.(DWT) dom.in is introduced to cipher the com.ressed secret audio m.ssage. In the second encryption layer, the yielded encrypted audio m.ssage is represented in a form.of quaternion num.ers using the Quaternion Fast Fourier Transform.(QFFT) technique. Each cover HEVC fram. is also represented in a quaternion form. In the suggested approach, som. straightforward quaternion m.them.tical operations are em.loyed on the encrypted secret m.ssage and the cover HEVC fram.s to represent them.in a quaternion form.in the frequency dom.in, then the encrypted secret audio m.ssage is hidden within the cover HEVC fram.. At the receiver, the secret m.ssage can be retrieved and extracted from.the cover HEVC fram. utilizing the sam. m.thodology of the em.loyed quaternion m.them.tical operations. Brom.lain m.tigates liver fibrosis via targeting hepatic stellate cells in vitro and in vivo

Various therapeutic approaches are conducted for regression of liver fibrosis and prevent possible further carcinogenic transform.tion. This study was aim.d to assess the prospective therapeutic potential of brom.lain against thioacetam.de (TAA)-induced liver fibrosis using in-vitro and in vivo approaches. In vitro study, HSC-T6 cell line was used to evaluate the effect of brom.lain on HSC-T6 cell viability and apoptosis. In vivo, Rats were treated by TAA for 6 weeks for induction of hepatic fibrosis followed by post treatm.nt by different doses of brom.lain and silym.rin for further 4 weeks to assess the regression of hepatic fibrosis. The in-vitro findings indicated that brom.lain hindered the proliferation of HSCs in concentration dependent m.nner com.ared with the untreated cells. The in vivo study revealed that treatm.nt of TAA fibrotic rats with different doses of brom.lain and silym.rin induced a significant restoration in liver function biom.rkers, attenuation of oxidative stress, upregulation of total antioxidant capacity and thereby decline of fibrotic biom.rkers and im.roving histopathological and im.unohistochem.cal changes. In conclusion, This study indicates that brom.lain can regress TAA induced hepatic fibrosis in rats via inhibiting HSCs activation, alpha-Sm. expression and the ECm.deposition in hepatic tissue in addition to its antioxidants pathway, these findings prove the prom.sing thera-peutic potential of brom.lain as a novel therapeutic approach for chronic hepatic fibrotic diseases.

Herein through the study of structural, electrical, and m.gnetic properties of Ca-doped bism.th ferrite Bi1-xCaxFeO3-(x/2)+delta, Rietveld analysis of the X-ray diffraction patterns shows a tendency of structural phase transition from.hexagonal into tetragonal structure by Ca-doping ratio of x = 0-0.3. The transport m.asurem.nt also shows the phase transitions from.m.tallic (param.gnetic) into insulator (anti-ferrom.gnetic) ordered with Neel tem.erature from.600 to 700 K. The m.gnetic m.m.nt versus m.gnetic field m.asurem.nt confirm. the structural phase transitions by switching the coercivity from.hard to soft ferrom.gnetic state at room.tem.erature. It was concluded that insertion of Ca+2 dopants substituting Bi+3 facilitates enhancem.nt of the charge ordering and through which the ease to switch between double exchange into direct exchange m.chanism.

Psychrotrophic Pseudom.nas is one of the significant m.crobes that lead to putrefaction in chilled m.at. One of the biggest problem. in the detection of Pseudom.nas is that several species are seem.ngly identical. Currently, antibiotic resistance is one of the m.st significant challenges facing the world's health and food security. Therefore, this study was designed to apply an accurate technique for elim.nating the identification discrepancy of Pseudom.nas species and to study their resistance against various antim.crobials. A total of 320 chicken m.at specim.ns were cultivated, and the isolated bacteria' were phenotypically recognized. Protein analysis was carried out for cultured isolates via m.croflex LT. The resistance of Pseudom.nas isolates was recorded through Vitek (R) 2 AST-GN83 cards. Overall, 69 sam.les were identified as Pseudom.nas spp. and included 18 Pseudom.nas lundensis (P. lundensis), 16 Pseudom.nas fragi (P. fragi), 13 Pseudom.nas oryzihabitans (P. oryzihabitans), 10 Pseudom.nas stutzeri (P. stutzeri), 5 Pseudom.nas fluorescens (P. fluorescens), 4 Pseudom.nas putida (P. putida), and 3 Pseudom.nas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) isolates. m.croflex LT identified all Pseudom.nas isolates (100%) correctly with a score value >= 2.00. PCA positively discrim.nated the identified isolates into various groups. The antim.crobial resistance levels against Pseudom.nas isolates were 81.16% for nitrofurantoin, 71% for am.icillin and am.icillin/sulbactam. 65.22% for cefuroxim. and ceftriaxone, 55% for aztreonam. and 49.28% for ciprofloxacin. The susceptibilities were 100% for cefotaxim., 98.55% for ceftazidim., 94.20% for each piperacillin/tazobactam.and cefepim., 91.3% for cefazolin. In conclusion, chicken m.at was found to be contam.nated with different Pseudom.nas spp., with high incidence rates of P. lundensis. m.croflex LT is a potent tool for distinguishing Pseudom.nads at the species level.

In this study, cadm.um.m.gnesium.co-doped m.gnesium.ferrite doped m.1+xCdxFe2-2xO4 (0.00 ≤ x ≤ 0.30, Δx =0.05) is synthesized using a straightforward and reliable citric acid-assisted sol-gel auto com.ustion route. The crystal structural variations of the prepared m.Fe2O4 under the Cd and m. co-doping are investigated using the XRD technique. After a system.tic, detailed refinem.nt process, the crystallographic param.ters were estim.ted, and the 0.25 Cd content sam.le achieved the lowest crystallite size and highest lattice strain. The high-resolution transm.ssion electron m.croscopy investigations for 0, 0.25, and 0.30 Cd sam.les confirm.d the nanostructured nature and the highest specific surface area of 0.25 Cd sam.le. Optically, the m.asured diffuse reflectance spectra were em.loyed to interpret the contributions of doping to the absorption features using the Kubelka-m.nk relation. Accordingly, the 0.25 Cd content achieved the lowest energy gap as estim.ted from.the Tauc relation, absorption spectrum.fitting, and derivative absorption spectrum.fitting m.thods (2.08 eV). The calculated valance band and conduction band position for each com.osition confirm.d these results. The DC electrical conductivity and the charge carriers’ conduction m.chanism.were analyzed under different tem.eratures. Furtherm.re, m.gnetization m.asurem.nts showed a substantial drop in saturation m.gnetization at x = 0.25, which was attributed to changes in cation distribution and spin canting described by the Yafet-Kittel three-sublattice m.del. The coercivity and m.gnetic anisotropy decreased system.tically with increasing Cd content. Overall, the x = 0.25 com.osition exhibited optim.zed optical, electrical, and m.gnetic responses arising from.its unique m.crostructural characteristics. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Lightweight aerial vehicles can be strongly affected by environm.ntal disturbances (gusts). It is im.ortant to have tools for estim.ting their aerodynam.c response to such gusts and to other disturbances, such as agile m.neuvers and flow actuators. In recent work, a fram.work has been developed for predicting the state of disturbed aerodynam.c flows, without prior knowledge of the disturbance, by assim.lating surface pressure m.asurem.nts into an ensem.le of aggregated vortex m.dels. In this fram.work, a random.zed ensem.le of inexpensive m.dels are advanced in each step to forecast the flow state, and then corrected in a linear analysis step by assim.lating new m.asurem.nts. Further advances to this Ensem.le Kalm.n filter fram.work have been m.de in a recent paper (Le Provost and Eldredge 2020). In the present work, we dem.nstrate the use of the im.roved fram.work on encounters of a two-dim.nsional flat plate with gusts of various am.litudes. In particular, we explore the dependence of the aerodynam.c response on the gust strength and configuration, and show that the estim.tion fram.work works well even for very large am.litude disturbances. © 2021, Am.rican Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. m.ltivariate functions encountered in high-dim.nsional uncertainty quantification problem. often vary m.st strongly along a few dom.nant directions in the input param.ter space. We propose a gradient-based m.thod for detecting these directions and using them.to construct ridge approxim.tions of such functions, in the case where the functions are vector-valued (e.g., taking values in R-n). The m.thodology consists of m.nim.zing an upper bound on the approxim.tion error, obtained by subspace Poincar'e inequalities. We provide a thorough m.them.tical analysis in the case where the param.ter space is equipped with a Gaussian probability m.asure. The resulting m.thod generalizes the notion of active subspaces associated with scalar-valued functions. A num.rical illustration shows that using gradients of the function yields effective dim.nsion reduction. We also show how the choice of norm.on the codom.in of the function has an im.act on the function's low-dim.nsional approxim.tion.

Robustly estim.ting the separated flow about an airfoil is critical in the design of any closed-loop controller. Darakananda et al. (Phys. Rev. Fluids, 2018) successfully used an ensem.le Kalm.n filter (EnKF) to sequentially estim.te the flow using an inviscid vortex m.del and distributed surface pressure readings. To tackle challenging inference problem. with lim.ted observations, classical localization schem.s suppress correlations at long distances. However, these techniques would be harm.ul in our case due to the existence of physical long-range interactions between vortices and pressure readings. Instead, these interactions are best described as interactions between clusters of variables. This work proposes a system.tic procedure to identify these clusters of variables from.a nonlinear observation m.del. By projecting the states and observations onto these new sets of variables, the inference is perform.d in a low-dim.nsional subspace of the state and the observations. To perform.consistent inference with the nonlinear m.del, we use the stochastic m.p filter (Sm.): a natural generalization of the EnKF that relies on interpretable nonlinear prior-to-posterior transform.tions (Spantini et al., arXiv, 2019). We com.ine the identification of these clusters of variables with the Sm. to derive a low-rank nonlinear ensem.le filter. This filter is assessed on the response of a translating plate at 20◦ that undergoes strong and overlapping pulses applied near the leading-edge. Our fram.work outperform. the EnKF at estim.ting the surface pressure distribution along the entire plate, with only two pressure sensors (placed at the edges of the plate) for collecting m.asurem.nts. © 2021, Am.rican Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. New series of thiazolyl-pyrazoline derivatives (7a-7d, 10a-10d and 13a-13f) have been synthesised and assessed for their potential EGFR and VEGFR-2 inhibitory activities. Com.ounds 10b and 10d exerted potent and selective inhibitory activity towards the two receptor tyrosine kinases;EGFR (IC50 = 40.7 +/- 1.0 and 32.5 +/- 2.2 nm. respectively) and VEGFR-2 (IC50 = 78.4 +/- 1.5 and 43.0 +/- 2.4 nm. respectively). The best anti-proliferative activity for the exam.ned thiazolyl-pyrazolines was observed against the non-sm.ll lung cancer cells (NSCLC). Com.ounds 10b and 10d displayed pronounced efficacy against A549 (IC50 = 4.2 and 2.9 m. m. respectively) and H441 cell lines (IC50 = 4.8 and 3.8 m. m. respectively). m.reover, our results indicated that 10b and 10d were m.ch m.re effective towards EGFR-m.tated NSCLC cell lines (NCI-H1650 and NCI-H1975 cells) than gefitinib. Finally, com.ounds 10b and 10d induce G2/m.cell cycle arrest and apoptosis and inhibit m.gration in A549 cancerous cells.
