Fluorinated boron nitride nanosheets for high thermal conductivity and low dielectric constant silicone rubber composites

Increasing miniaturization and integration of microelectronic devices have led to an unprecedented attention on heat dissipation and signal transmission of electronic equipment. However, the mostly used method to enhance the thermal conductivity of polymers by adding thermally conductive fillers usually results in the increase of dielectric constant (Dk). It was still challenging to synergistically achieve low Dk and high thermal conductivity of polymer-matrix composites. Herein, hydroxylated boron nitride nanosheet (BNNS-OH) with a high yield of 35.67% was prepared by the liquid ultrasonic exfoliation under the assistance of sodium cholate (SC), and grafted with (1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorodecyl) trimethoxy silane to prepare fluorinated boron nitride nanosheets (F-BNNS), which can uniformly disperse in liquid silicone rubber (LSR) and reduce the Dk of LSR composites. The thermal conductivity of LSR composites with 20 wt% F-BNNS reached 0.489 Wm-1K-1, showing an increase of 307.35% in comparison with pure LSR (0.12 Wm-1K-1). Meantime, the Dk of as-obtained LSR/F-BNNS (20 wt%) composites is reduced from 3.4 to 2.6, and the dielectric loss (Df) is less than 0.012. The facile and rational design of fluorinated BNNS offers a new insight for the high-end electronic packaging *** A new method of exfoliation and fluorinated treatment of h-BN was proposed. The LSR composites achieved an ultralow Dk of 2.63 via fluorinated BNNS. Thermal conductivity of LSR composites increased by 307.35% than pure LSR. Multimodal Sensors Fusion SLAM Based on Local Control and Multiscale Distance Analysis

Multimodal sensor fusion exhibits formidable advantages in simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM). Nevertheless, integrating measurements from multimodal sensors at varying timestamps and frequencies can lead to the loss of certain state information, ultimately compromising performance. This article introduces a local control-based multisensors fusion algorithm that adeptly captures sensor data at different sampling rates and achieves spatial calibration, markedly enhancing the accuracy and real-time performance of extrinsic calibration. By leveraging a multiscale distance-based segmentation approach for loop closure detection, the algorithm continuously monitors and corrects accumulated trajectory errors, while fusing multimodal sensor data to bolster the accuracy and robustness of pose estimation in SLAM tasks. Experimental evaluations on the public NTU-VIRAL dataset reveal an overall precision improvement of 94.2%, 8.1%, and 86.6% over R3LIVE, CLIC, and FAST-LIVO, respectively. These results underscore the reliable accuracy and robustness of the proposed SLAM algorithm.

HMC-SLAM: A Robust VSLAM Based on RGB-D Camera in Dynamic Environment Combined Hierarchical Multidimensional Clustering Algorithm

Most of the current visual simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) systems assume that the working environment is static, but dynamic targets in the actual working environment will reduce the position estimation accuracy. Aiming at the problem that visual SLAM cannot filter dynamic targets in a dynamic environment, this article proposes a visual SLAM (VSLAM) system for a dynamic environment based on hierarchical multidimensional clustering (HMC) of feature points, called HMC-SLAM, which can effectively reduce the localization error in dynamic environments. The system identifies a dynamic detection box by combining semantic information and polar geometric constraints. In the dynamic detection box, feature point clusters are divided by fusing the polar distance and depth information of feature points. During the process of dynamic feature point cluster removal, the strongest dynamic point cluster is first identified, and then the adjacent point clusters in its depth range are removed together. To further refine the rejection, we define optimized weights for the feature points in the detection box to avoid the influence of potential dynamic points. In the experiments, we evaluate the performance of the proposed HMC-SLAM in the TUM and BONN datasets and real scenarios. In the TUM and BONN datasets, the algorithmic accuracy and stability of HMC-SLAM are improved by 80.37% and 87.48% relative to ORBSLAM3, respectively. The real scenario results show that HMC-SLAM maintains good localization accuracy, effectively rejects dynamic targets, and is more robust than the current state-of-the-art dynamic SLAM methods.

Investigation of ZnO-B2O3-SiO2 glass and its application for joining AlN ceramic

In this paper, we designed two series of the ZnO-B2O3-SiO2 (ZBS) glass to explore their applicability for joining AlN ceramic. The density, flexural strength, structure, characteristic temperature, coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) and crystallization behavior of the ZBS glass with varying ZnO and B2O3 content were systematically studied. The results show that as B2O3 content increase, the glass network is disrupted with the transition from three-dimensional shelf-like structure [BO4] to two-dimensional layers [BO3], increasing the number of the broken bonds, while an increase in ZnO results in a more compact glass network structure. We also found that both glass transition temperature (Tg) and softening temperature (TS) exhibit a declining trend with the increase in B2O3 and ZnO. Zn2SiO4 and ZnAl2O4, began to precipitate after heat treatments in all the samples except 60ZnO-30B2O3-10SiO2 (abbreviated as B30), where the diffraction peaks do not appear in Zn2SiO4 but in Zn4B6O13. Notably, Zn2SiO4 is the main phase for most samples while the main phase of B30 sample is ZnAl2O4. The CTE increases from 4.6 to 5.03 (x 10-6/ degrees C) and 4.23 to 4.73 (x 10-6/ degrees C) with an increase of B2O3 and ZnO content, respectively. Among these, the CTE of B30 sample is compatible with that of AlN ceramic substrate. The optimal shear strength, 60.32 +/- 10.26 MPa, was achieved with B30 samples at 750 degrees C. The high strength was attributed to the interfacial reaction that leads to strong chemical bonding and the uniform distribution of the ZnAl2O4 in the interlayer, which reinforces the strength of the interlayer itself.

Functional analysis of the type II toxin-antitoxin system ParDE in Streptococcus suis serotype 2

Streptococcus suis (S. suis) is a major pathogen in swine and poses a potential zoonotic threat, which may cause serious diseases. Many toxin-antitoxin (TA) systems have been discovered in S. suis, but their functions have not yet been fully elucidated. In this study, an auto-regulating type II TA system, ParDE, was identified in S. suis serotype 2 strain ZY05719. We constructed a mutant strain, Delta parDE, to explore its functions in bacterial virulence, various stress responses, and biofilm formation capabilities. The toxicity exerted by the toxin ParE can be neutralized by the antitoxin ParD. The beta-galactosidase activity analysis indicated that ParDE has an autoregulatory function. An electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA) confirmed that the antitoxin ParD bound to the promoter of ParDE as dimers. In the mouse infection model, the deletion of ParDE in ZY05719 significantly attenuated virulence. Delta parDE also exhibited a reduced anti-oxidative stress ability, and Delta parDE was more susceptible to phagocytosis and killing by macrophages. Moreover, the biofilm formation ability of the Delta parDE strain was significantly enhanced compared to ZY05719. Taken together, these findings indicate that the type II TA system ParDE plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of S. suis, providing new insights into its pathogenic mechanisms.

Bioinformatics analysis of type II toxin–antitoxin systems and regulatory functional assessment of HigBA and SS-ATA in Streptococcus suis

Toxin–antitoxin(TA) systems, which are prevalent in bacteria and archaea, play diverse roles in bacterial physiology and have been proposed to be significant in stress adaptation. Despite the extensive characterization of numerous TA systems in various bacteria, the investigation of these systems within Streptococcus suis is still limited. Here,we systematically analyzed the type II TA systems of 95 S. suis genomes available in the GenBank database using TAfinder. A total of 612 putative type II TA systems were retrieved and classified into 10 categories by phylogenetic analysis. Notably, an elevated occurrence of these TA systems was observed among the important prevalent serotypes 2, 4, 5, 9, 14, Chz, NCL1, and NCL3 strains. The following study identified the activities of TA systems using 2 strategies and confirmed the regulatory effect of HigBA on the type VII secretion system in S. suis by measuring β-galactosidase activity and transcriptional changes. Moreover, we unveiled a hitherto uncharacterized,highly prevalent novel TA system, with the composition of antitoxin–toxin–antitoxin(SS-ATA), which regulates the downstream two-component signaling system. Altogether, this study systematically analyzed the type II TA systems within S. suis, highlighting the widespread distribution of Hig BA and SS-ATA as important regulatory elements in S. suis.

Molecular characterization of Klebsiella pneumoniae in clinical bovine mastitis in 14 provinces in China

The mastitis caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae (K. pneumoniae) is increasing in the dairy cows. To investigate the epidemic of K. pneumoniae of China, 131 strains were isolated from 495 clinical mastitis milk samples (26.5%) from 14 provinces in China. Among the isolates, K57 was the dominant serotype (45.0%) and 19 (14.5%) isolates were identified as hypervirulent K. pneumoniae (hvKP). The mrkA, entB, wabG and fimH genes were prevalent virulence genes while rmpA, magA, and ycf were not found in K. pneumoniae. Furthermore, K. pneumoniae had serious antibiotic resistance and multiple beta-lactamase genes, including blaTEM, blaSHV, blaNDM, blaCTX-M, blaDHA, and blaKPC. Biofilm was an important factor in bacterial resistance and persistent infection, and 77.1% isolates could form biofilm. Although acylated homoserine lactone (AHL, a Gram-negative bacterial quorum sensing signal molecule) was not confirmed among the K. pneumoniae isolates, exogenous AHLs could reduce the biofilm formation ability of the K. pneumoniae strains. Three new ST types (ST6781, ST6782, and ST6783) were first identified in this study. The MLST phylogenetic tree showed the distribution of mastitis associated K. pneumoniae strains had no regular pattern, which confirmed high genomic diversity of mastitis associated K. pneumoniae. In conclusion, the high rate of isolation and serious antibiotic resistance of K. pneumonia were found in this study and indicated a potential threat to public health from the food chain.

AoI-optimal path planning for UAV-assisted data collection with heterogeneous information aging speed

This article investigates a problem involving the collection of data from sensor nodes (SNs) with heterogeneous information aging speed (IAS) by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in a dense obstacle environment. The objective is to minimize the average age of information (AoI) of the SNs through UAV path planning. The problem is challenging due to the tight coupling of obstacle avoidance, information timeliness, and the heterogeneity of SNs. Directly solving this path planning problem is difficult, and the conventional approach involves planning the access sequence without considering obstacle avoidance and then optimizing the UAV trajectory while incorporating safety constraints. However, optimizing the trajectory for safe flight introduces changes in the flight time cost, resulting in the average AoI not reaching its minimum value. To address this, a UAV safe flight network is first established by generating trajectories using a combination of A*-based and successive convex approximation (SCA)-based algorithms. Subsequently, a genetic algorithm (GA)-based method is employed and compared with the time greedy strategy. The numerical results demonstrate that the time greedy strategy, which aligns with intuitive understanding, can achieve a smaller total UAV flight time, while the proposed method effectively minimizes the average AoI of SNs.

Design and testing of a hollow single-actuation vertical stage integrated into an XYZ nanopositioner

This paper proposes a novel hollow single-actuation vertical stage (HSVS) aimed at reducing planar errors of the plane of the end-effector in XYZ nanopositioners. The proposed HSVS placed the actuator outside the center of the end-effector by designing a spatial lever amplification mechanism (SLAM), thus the hollow center is preserved. To generate spatial motion, an XY stage is designed by employing a lever displacement amplification structure with an L-shaped flexure hinge, and then it is combined with the proposed HSVS. Furthermore, this paper utilizes the compliance matrix and Lagrange equation to model the nanopositioner, followed by its parameter optimization. Finally, this paper conducted a series of experiments to validate the effectiveness of both the proposed HSVS and the designed nanopositioner. All experimental results indicate that the XYZ nanopositioner can achieve three degrees-of-freedom translational motion within a workspace measuring 101 mu m x 105 mu m x19.9 mu m. Concurrently, the result effectively verifies that excellent flatness can be obtained in the case of ensuring the center through the hole of the proposed HSVS for XYZ nanopositioner. Additionally, coupling errors in non-working directions are less than 5.2 mu m, and positioning accuracy is +/- 20 nm.

Detecting and Mapping Peatlands in the Tibetan Plateau Region Using the Random Forest Algorithm and Sentinel Imagery

The extensive peatlands of the Tibetan Plateau (TP) play a vital role in sustaining the global ecological balance. However, the distribution of peatlands across this region and the related environmental factors remain poorly understood. To address this issue, we created a high-resolution (10 m) map for peatland distribution in the TP region using 6146 Sentinel-1 and 23,730 Sentinel-2 images obtained through the Google Earth Engine platform in 2023. We employed a random forest algorithm that integrated spatiotemporal features with field training samples. The overall accuracy of the peatland distribution map produced is high, at 86.33%. According to the classification results, the total area of peatlands on the TP is 57,671.55 km2, and they are predominantly located in the northeast and southwest, particularly in the Zoige Protected Area. The classification primarily relied on the NDVI, NDWI, and RVI, while the DVI and MNDWI were also used in peatland mapping. B11, B12, NDWI, RVI, NDVI, and slope are the most significant features for peatland mapping, while roughness, correlation, entropy, and ASM have relatively slight significance. The methodology and peatland map developed in this work will enhance the conservation and management of peatlands on the TP while informing policy decisions and supporting sustainable development assessments.
