Factors and mechanism research of carbonation mineralization with MgO in recycled fine aggregate

The utilization of recycled fine aggregate（RFA）in subgrade filling projects can enhance the recycling rate of construction waste and reduce the consumption of natural sand and stone resources. Reactive magnesium oxide（MgO）was incorporated into RFA. MgO and the active components in RFA were simultaneously carbonated by the carbonation method to improve the mechanical properties of RFA and expand its application scenarios. The response surface center group method was used to design tests and analyze data. Through strength tests and microscopic tests，the influence mechanism of the MgO content，water-cement ratio and carbonation duration on the strength was studied. The empirical model of the strength change was established to explore the strengthening mechanism. The results indicate that the average unconfined compressive strength of RFA with the mass fraction of MgO of 10% can reach up to 11. 24 MPa after carbonation. The main carbonation products include rod-shaped nesquehonite，calcite，and aragonite. The composite products include magnesium silicate and dolomite，which repair and bond RFA. These findings provide significant insights into optimizing RFA strengthening methods and promoting low-carbon geotechnical engineering. © 2025 Southeast University. All rights reserved.

Sensitivity of the Land-Atmosphere Coupling to Soil Moisture Anomalies during the Warm Season in China and its Surrounding Areas

Significant temporal and spatial variability in soil moisture (SM) is observed during the warm season in China and its surrounding regions. Because of the existence of two different evapotranspiration regimes, i.e., soil moisture-limited and energy-limited, averaging the land-atmosphere (L-A) coupling strength for all soil wetness scenarios may result in the loss of coupling signals. This study examines the daytime-only L-A interactions under different soil moisture conditions, by using two-legged metrics in the warm season from May to September 1981-2020, partitioning the interactions between SM and latent heat flux (SM-LH, the land leg) from the interactions between latent heat flux and the lifting condensation level (LH-LCL, the atmospheric leg). The statistical results reveal large regional differences in warm-season daytime L-A feedback in China and its surrounding areas. As the soil becomes wetter, the positive SM-LH coupling strength increases in arid regions (e.g., northwest China, hetao, and the Great Indian Desert) and the positive feedback shifts to the negative one in semi-arid/semi-humid regions (northeast and northern China). The negative LH-LCL coupling is most pronounced in wet soil months in arid regions, while the opposite is true for the Tibetan Plateau. In terms of intraseasonal variation, the large variability of SM in north China, the Tibetan Plateau, and India due to the influence of the summer monsoon leads to the sign change in the land segment coupling index, comparing pre- and post-monsoon periods. To further examine the impact of SM anomalies on L-A coupling and to explore evapotranspiration regimes in the North China Plain, four sets of sensitivity experiments with different soil moisture levels over a period of 10 years were conducted. Associations of the C-reactive protein-albumin-lymphocyte index with all-cause and cardiovascular mortality among individuals with cardiovascular disease: evidence from the NHANES 2001-2010

Background Evidence regarding the C-reactive protein-albumin-lymphocyte (CALLY) index and mortality risk in individuals with cardiovascular disease (CVD) is scarce. This study investigated the relationships of the CALLY index with all-cause and cardiovascular mortality risk in CVD patients among American adults. Methods This study enrolled 2183 CVD individuals from five NHANES cycles (2001-2010), and mortality outcomes were determined by linking the data to National Death Index (NDI) records up to December 31, 2019. Weighted multivariate Cox regression models and subgroup analyses were performed to assess the associations of the CALLY index with all-cause and cardiovascular mortality. A restricted cubic spline (RCS) was used to visualize the association of the CALLY index with mortality risk. Results During a median follow-up of 122 months (interquartile range, 71-157 months), 1208 (weighted percentage, 49.62%) of the 2183 CVD individuals died, including 398 (weighted percentage, 24.85%) with cardiovascular deaths and 810 (weighted percentage, 75.15%) with noncardiovascular deaths. Cox regression revealed an inverse correlation between the CALLY index and the risk of all-cause and cardiovascular mortality after adjusting for covariates. Compared with individuals with a lower CALLY index, those with a higher CALLY index had a significantly lower risk of both all-cause (HR 0.58, 95% CI: 0.48, 0.71, p < 0.001) and cardiovascular mortality (HR 0.54, 95% CI: 0.38, 0.76, p < 0.001). The RCS regression analysis revealed a nonlinear association between the CALLY index and all-cause and cardiovascular mortality (p < 0.05 for nonlinearity) in CVD patients. The associations were consistent in the subgroup analyses regardless of age, sex, income, education level, race, smoking status, diabetes, and hypertension (all p values for interactions > 0.05). BackgroundThe neutrophil percentage-to-albumin ratio (NPAR) has been identified as a prognostic indicator of mortality in various diseases;however, its association with all-cause and cardiovascular mortality in the general population remains insufficiently *** retrospective cohort study analyzed data from 36,428 individuals who participated in the National health and Nutrition Examination Survey between 1999 and 2018. Participants were divided into tertiles based on NPAR levels, with follow-up data collected through December 31, 2019. Weighted multivariable Cox regression models were employed to assess the associations between NPAR and both all-cause and cardiovascular mortality. Kaplan-Meier survival analyses were used to compare survival rates across NPAR tertiles. Additionally, restricted cubic spline analyses and subgroup and sensitivity analyses were conducted to further investigate these *** the follow-up period of up to 20 years, 4,716 deaths occurred among the 36,428 participants, including 1,260 deaths attributed to cardiovascular disease. At baseline, the mean NPAR was 13.66 (SD 2.42), the average age was 45.75 years (SD 16.20), and 50.33% of participants were female. Multivariable analyses showed that individuals in the highest NPAR tertile had a significantly increased risk of both all-cause mortality (HR, 95% CI: 1.45, 1.33-1.57) and cardiovascular mortality (HR, 95% CI: 1.69, 1.39-2.06). Kaplan-Meier survival curves demonstrated significant differences in both all-cause and cardiovascular mortality across NPAR groups. A nonlinear association was observed between NPAR and the risk of both all-cause and cardiovascular mortality. Sensitivity analyses confirmed the robustness of these associations. Additionally, a significant interaction between NPAR and hypertension was identified in relation to all-cause mortality (relative excess risk due to interaction, 95% CI: 0.20, 0.07-0.34;multiplicative interaction, P = 0.04)

受到复杂海洋环境的影响,雷达对海面慢速小目标难以实现高性能检测。对于这类目标,传统的基于能量的统计检测方法存在着严重的性能损失。针对这一问题,该文提出了基于互信息最大化框架下的海面小目标检测方法,实现海杂波背景下的无监督目标异常检测任务。首先,考虑到高分辨雷达回波不满足传统神经网络对样本独立同分布的假设,该文从图的角度重新建模数据,利用回波的空时相关特性来构建图拓扑结构。该文提出相对最大节点度并联合7个已有特征作为节点的初始表示向量。接下来,采用图注意力网络作为互信息最大化框架中的编码器学习节点表示向量。最后,使用异常检测算法进行目标检测,并实现虚警可控。经实测数据验证,使用快速凸包学习算法时,相比三特征检测器,所提检测器性能提升了9.2%;相比时频三特征检测器,性能提升了7.9%。当网络输出更高维的表示向量时,使用孤立森林算法的检测器的性能提升了27.4%。

Early Neoarchean alternation of plate subduction and deep mantle upwelling

How Earth switched from any earlier regimes such as plume-lid tectonics to plate tectonics remains an unresolved issue in Earth sciences. We report early Neoarchean (-2.77-2.68 Ga) metavolcanic rocks, including older calc-alkaline basaltic-andesitic rocks in the southwest but younger tholeiitic rocks in the northeast, from the Jiaobei terrane of North China Craton. Petrogenetic studies and thermodynamic and trace element modeling reveal that the tholeiitic magmas originated mainly from deep and unmodified mantle sources (-1600 degrees C and -3.5 GPa), relative to the shallower and metasomatized depleted mantle sources (-1450 degrees C and -2.2 GPa) of calc-alkaline magmas. Geochemical changes indicate that the mantle sources became isotopically enriched but less metasomatized from southwest to northeast. These data suggest an early Neoarchean plate subductioninduced deep mantle upwelling regime. We further depict a potential geodynamic framework for the early Neoarchean Earth involving active interaction of plate subduction and deep mantle upwelling, which possibly changed the thermal evolutionary trajectory of the Earth and accelerated the arrival of global plate tectonics.

Enhancement of Scintillation Properties of LYSO:Ce Crystals by Al Codoping

Single-crystal lutetium yttrium oxyorthosilicate doped by cerium (LYSO:Ce) has been widely adopted as a scintillator material for radiation detection. The demands from nuclear medical imaging, as well as high-energy physics, are calling for ever-increasing scintillation properties. here, Al3+ codoping of LYSO:Ce is realized for the first time, and a series of LYSO:Ce,xAl (x = 0, 0.3, 0.6, and 1.0 atom %) crystals are successfully grown by a micro-pulling down (mu-PD) method. It is found that at x = 0.6 atom %, the overall scintillation properties are simultaneously improved. In particular, the slow component of rise time and the afterglow level are drastically reduced by 350% (from 304 to 86 ps) and an order of magnitude (from 0.2 to 0.02%), respectively. The energy resolution is also enhanced from 16.1 to 10.9%. These results are attributed to the fact that Al3+ codoping significantly reduces the concentration of traps, accelerates the excited state lifetime of Ce3+ ions and introduces a faster scintillating luminescence center, Ce4+ ions. Our LYSO:Ce,0.6 atom % Al crystal offers a gain in the image signal-to-noise ratio of 1.4 over the non-codoped crystal, which will significantly benefit the next-generation time-of-flight positron emission tomography and enable more precise diagnosis of diseases.

Numb inhibits migration and promotes proliferation of colon cancer cells via RhoA/ROCK signaling pathway repression

Numb regulates cell proliferation and differentiation through endocytosis and ubiquitination of signaling molecules. Besides, Numb controls the migration of epithelial cells by regulating intercellular junctions. Studies have shown that Numb promotes or inhibits tumor progression in different tumors. However, its role and mechanism in colorectal cancer remain unclear. We found that the expression level of Numb in colon tumor tissues has a great variety in different patients. Numb expression was negatively correlated with TNM stage and lymph node metastasis but positively correlated with tumor size. Elevated expression of Numb was associated with a good prognosis. Inhibiting Numb expression promoted the migration and invasion of colon cancer cells induced by TGF-8, up-regulated the expression of EMT-related molecule Snail, and prevented the expression of E-cadherin. We also found that Numb promoted the proliferation and clones formation while inhibiting colon cancer cells' late apoptosis. In addition, Numb inhibited the RhoA activation and ROCK inhibitor Y-27632 or interfered with ROCK expression, partially inhibiting Numb-regulated cell proliferation and migration. In vivo tumorigenesis assay in nude mice also found that Numb promoted the proliferation of colon cancer cells, inhibited the expression of E-cadherin, and strengthened the expression of Snail. In conclusion, our study found that Numb plays multiple roles in the occurrence and progression of colon cancer by regulating the RhoA/ROCK signaling pathway, which provides a new theoretical molecular basis for the pathogenesis of colon cancer.

Purposes To investigate the feasibility and clinical efficacy of the treatment for lumbar tuberculosis with psoas major abscess with single-stage posterior resection of the transversal process combined with an intervertebral foraminal approach for debridement, interbody fusion, internal fixation. Methods This retrospective study evaluated the clinical data of 24 patients (14 males and 10 females) with lumbar tuberculosis and psoas major abscess admitted to the Comprehensive Surgery from June 2016 to June 2019. All patients were treated with the single-stage posterior approach to remove the transverse process combined with the intervertebral foramina approach for debridement, interbody fusion, internal fixation. The quadruple anti-tuberculosis drug therapy was given both pre-operatively and post-operatively. Clinical symptoms and complications were investigated and recorded. The visual analogue scale (VAS), American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA), degree of lesion fusion C-reactive protein (CRP) levels, and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) were evaluated. Results The average follow-up period was 16. 5 months (from 12 to 36 months). The average VAS score at three months post-operation was significantly declined than the pre-operative VAS score [(2.17 +/- 0.87) points vs (5.46 +/- 1.22) points, t = - 11.534, P < 0.01)]. At the last follow-up, the neurological function of 20 patients recovered to grade E, whereas four patients were still in grade D. The ESR and CRP returned to normal levels in all patients. Bone fusion was achieved in nine cases at six months, 11 cases at nine months, and four cases at 12 months. The incisions of 23 patients had healed nicely without chronic sinus. Poor incision healing only happened in one case at the day 12 post-operation. The bone grafts among the lesions obtained bony fusion. Risk assessment and spatial analysis of paralytic shellfish toxin (PST) concentrations and acute dietary exposure of commercially available shellfish in coastal areas in China

Paralytic shellfish toxins (PSTs) are produced by marine dinoflagellates and can be accumulated in filter feeding shellfish. In this study, we assessed acute dietary exposure to PSTs among residents of Chinese coastal provinces and cities, utilizing point and probabilistic estimates. Additionally, we performed global and local spatial autocorrelation analyses to evaluate PSTs contamination and dietary exposure levels in the coastal regions of China. The point estimate revealed that hebei province exhibited the highest level of PSTs dietary exposure, measuring 39.57 mu g STX eq./kg bw. In all regions, except for Guangxi, Jiangsu, Shandong, and Shanghai, the ratio between acute dietary exposure and the acute reference dose (ARfD) exceeded 1. Probabilistic estimates indicated that P99.9 exceeded the ARfD value exclusively in Guangdong, Hainan, and Liaoning. In comparison, the point estimate was significantly higher than the P99.9 value of the probabilistic estimate. The spatial analysis results showed "low-high" aggregation of PSTs concentration and point estimate dietary exposure levels in Liaoning and Shandong, while probabilistic estimate dietary exposure level exhibited "low-high" aggregation in Guangxi. This implied the presence of regional variations in PSTs contamination and dietary exposure within the coastal regions of China, along with specific localized clustering features. Therefore, it is advisable to develop regionalized precision monitoring and dietary interventions to ensure the safety of shellfish consumption, particularly in response to the regional distribution characteristics of PSTs contamination and dietary exposure.
