Cordgrass Spartina alterniflora acts as a key carbon source to support macrozoobenthos in the salt marsh and nearby mudflat communities

Exotic cordgrass Spartina can influence the trophic interaction and functioning of coastal ecosystems by altering the availability or palatability of carbon sources utilized by macrozoobenthos. Previous studies focused mainly on the trophic dynamics in Spartina-invaded mangroves or marshes, but the effect of Spartina on the diet of macrozoobenthos inhabiting the nearby unvegetated mudflat remains largely unexplored. By analyzing carbon and nitrogen stable isotopes, we compare the trophic contribution of an exotic cordgrass Spartina alterniflora to the macrozoobenthos between the dense S. alterniflora area (DSA) and adjacent tidal bare mudflat (TBM) in the hepu coast, Guangxi province. Macrozoobenthic species were more abundant in TBM than in DSA, but the difference in carbon and nitrogen stable isotopes was insignificant for the seven conspecifics between two sampling areas, where similar organic carbon sources and trophic levels for macrozoobenthos were found. The MixSIAR mixing model revealed that S. alterniflora acted as the most important carbon source for many mac-rozoobenthic species and all guilds in DSA and TBM. This study showed that S. alterniflora can benefit the adjacent bare mudflat by supplying detritus as the carbon source for macrozoobenthos, which is favorable for maintaining the biodiversity and trophic dynamics of macrozoobenthic communities in coastal ecosystems.

Selenium-enriched polysaccharides from Pyracantha fortuneana ( SePFP) has many beneficial physiological activities, but how it improves the aging associated abnormal lipid metabolism is still unclear. Therefore, we explored the mechanisms of the regulatory role of SePFP on liver lipid accumulation in aging mice. Methods: 60 naturally aged C57BL/6J male mice were divided into 6 groups: adult group, aging group (21-month-old mice), aging mice treated with low-, medium- and high-doses of SePFP (SePFP-L, SePFP-M, SePFP-H), and aging mice treated with resveratrol (RSV). SePFP and RSV were administrated daily via oral gavage from 16 to 21 months old. The parameters of energy metabolism were measured in all mice before sacrifice, and liver tissues were collected to determine the levels of metabolism-related enzymes by real-time PCR and Western blot. Results: We found that SePFP significantly reduced the body weight, liver to bodyweight ratio, and white fat to body weight ratio in aging mice. SePFP also down-regulated the triglycerides and cholesterol levels in liver and serum, and decreased respiratory quotient in aging mice. The mechanism of SePFP regulating lipid metabolism was mainly through promoting fatty acid transportation to mitochondria and enhancing mitochondrial beta-oxidation and ketone body production. Conclusion: SePFP attenuates liver lipid deposition in aging mice by enhancing hepatic mitochondrial beta-oxidation.

Conjugated Polymer-Ferrocence Nanoparticle as an NIR-II Light Powered Nanoamplifier to Enhance Chemodynamic Therapy

Chemodynamic therapy (CDT) is a promising therapeutic modality with transition metal ions and endogenous H2O2 as reagents, but its efficiency is impaired by low endogenous H2O2 levels and nonregeneration of metal ions. Most intracellular H2O2 supplement strategies use oxidases and are intensively dependent on oxygen participation. The hypoxia microenvironments of solid tumors weaken their performance. here, we develop a near-infrared II light powered nanoamplifier to improve the local oxygen level and to enhance CDT. The nanoamplifier CPNP-Fc/Pt consists of ferrocene (Fc)- and cisplatin prodrug (Pt(IV))-modified conjugated polymer nanoparticles (CPNPs). CPNP has a donor-acceptor structure and demonstrates a good photothermal effect under 1064 nm light irradiation, which accelerates blood flow and efficiently elevates the local oxygen content. In response to intracellular glutathione, Pt(II) is released from CPNP-Fc/Pt and triggers enzymatic cascade reactions with nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate oxidase (NADPH oxidase) and superoxide dismutase to convert oxygen into H2O2. The enhanced oxygen level results in efficient intracellular H2O2 supply. Fc is reacted with H2O2 and converted to Fc(+) via the Fenton reaction, with the generation of hydroxyl radicals for CDT. Unlike free metal ions, the Fe(III) in Fc(+) is reduced to Fe(II) by intracellular NAD(P)H, which achieves the regeneration of Fc. The sufficient intracellular H2O2 supply and efficient Fc regeneration effectively enhance the Fenton reaction and demonstrate good in vivo CDT results with tumor growth suppression. This design offers a promising strategy to enhance CDT efficiency in the hypoxia microenvironment of solid tumors.

Depth completion is a task that recovers a dense depth map from a sparse depth map with the corresponding color image. Recently, the intensive depth generation guided by image clues in the color map has achieved good results. Color images can provide structural and semantic information as guidance information, but cannot provide the more important information about geometric relationships. In this paper, we propose a novel network to learn latent 3D cues from RGB images and depth images. More specifically, the network contains a 3D clues extractor and a dense depth generator. The extractor is designed to fusion and extract the 3D joint clues from the color image and sparse depth. The generator is trained with the sparse depth map and 3D clues to producing a more accurate dense depth map. Extensive experiments show that our proposed method has a significant improvement over existing image-guided methods.

At present, China's economic development is in a critical period of transformation, which needs to get rid of the dependence on the real estate industry and low-end export processing industry, and is in urgent need of new growth engines. The emergence of the digital economy has provided a boost to economic upgrading, but to give full play to the potential of the digital economy, we must have an accurate and full understanding of it. At present, the development of digital economy has become the focus of all circles. Digital economy is a multilevel and complex concept, so this paper establishes a multi-index comprehensive evaluation system and uses AHP-entropy weight method to measure the development level of China's digital economy and, on this basis, analyzes the development level, dynamic changes, and regional differences of China's digital economy. The results show that China's digital economy is on the rise, which is mainly driven by the construction of digital infrastructure and the application of digital technology. By region, there is a big gap between different regions in the development of digital economy, and this gap is expanding continuously. The digital economy in the eastern region is in a leading position, but only in the development of the digital industry.

Depth completion technology based on multi-level feature fusion (MF) strategy has recently achieved remarkable success. However, the existing MF-based methods treat RGB features and depth map features equally when performing modal fusion but ignore the difference in semantic richness and sparsity between them, which leads to the results generated by these methods overfitting the shape of RGB and harm to the accuracy of depth value. To address this problem, we proposed a novel dual fusion (DF) strategy for MF-based depth completion, which can prevent overfitting by weakening the influence of RGB features on the generated results through two fusion stages. The entire DF framework consists of two multi-level fusion modules. The first fusion module performs a simple fusion of RGB features and depth features, while the second fusion module enriches the sparse image representation with the previously obtained fused features. Besides, we utilize non-local sparse attention to solve the problem that ordinary convolution is not capable of expressing depth map features enough. We test our approach on the outdoor KITTI test set and achieve the state-of-the-art (SOTA) performance in RMSE. Extensive experiments on the indoor NYUv2 dataset and KITTI validation set further demonstrate that our approach outperforms existing MF-based methods.

In this study, we conducted a comprehensive investigation into a GH3 family 13-glucosidase (BGL) from the wildtype strain of Oenococcus oeni and its mutated counterpart from the acid-tolerant mutant strain. Our analysis revealed the mutant BGL's remarkable capacity to adapt to wine-related stress conditions, including heightened tolerance to low pH, elevated ethanol concentrations, and metal ions. Additionally, the mutant BGL exhibited superior hydrolytic activity towards various substrates. Through de novo modeling, we identified specific amino acid mutations responsible for its resilience to low pH and high ethanol environments. In simulated wine conditions, the mutant BGL outperformed both wild-type and commercial BGLs, efficiently releasing terpene and phenolic aglycones from glycosides in wine grapes. These findings not only expand our understanding of O. oeni BGLs but also highlight their potential in enhancing wine production. The mutant BGL's enhanced adaptation to wine stress conditions opens promising avenue for improving wine quality and flavor.

Based on the large color steel building data of Yinchuan in 2005, 2010, 2015 and 2019, this paper uses standard deviation ellipse, kernel density estimation, nearest neighbor index and multi-distance spatial clustering method to explore the clustering characteristics and spatial-temporal pattern evolution of large color steel building in Yinchuan. The results show that:(1) from 2005 to 2019, the spatial distribution direction of large color steel building in yinchuan presents a stable "northwest to southeast" direction, and the center of gravity has been shifted to the southwest, with the transfer distance becoming smaller and smaller.(2) With 4 national and provincial industrial parks as the core cluster areas, the cluster features are obvious. As time goes on, it spreads to the periphery and tends to stabilize.(3) All the four periods presented condensed distribution and gradually weakened agglomeration. In 2010, the agglomeration intensity and agglomeration scope reached the peak, which were significantly improved compared with 2005, but they were roughly the same and gradually weakened after 2015. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. In this Letter, we employed atomic layer deposition (ALD) and flash lamp annealing (FLA) to form a wafer-scale ultra-shallow junction (USJ, similar to 5 nm) in silicon. The deep ultraviolet light is almost completely absorbed in the PN junction depletion region near the surface, resulting in a high collection efficiency of photogenerated carriers. The junction-based photodiode exhibits outstanding performances with internal quantum efficiency reaching similar to 95% from 200 nm to 400 nm and a linear response to the UV light within a wide range of 0.4-10(3) mu W.
