Multi-modal image fusion aims to integrate images from multiple sensors, generating visually pleasing images that encompass more comprehensive and complementary information. Existing approaches favor the use of convolutional neural networks and employ simple sequential training strategies to achieve high-quality fusion conducive to subsequent perception tasks. However, these measures often overlook the attention mechanism of long-distance pixel information and struggle to achieve stable and efficient collaborative training. To overcome these issues, this paper proposes a fusion network based on the transformer for infrared and visible image fusion and applications. Specifically, we design a cross-scale attention mechanism from both Mini and Mega perspectives to integrate features between different modalities. Additionally, we adopt the concept of bi-level optimization and propose a training strategy that fully associates fusion with perception tasks. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superiority of the proposed network and strategy. Not only does it produce fusion images with good visual effects, but it also improves the performance on perception tasks compared to state-of-the-art methods. © 2023 IEEE.

Optimal Control Based Torque Distribution for In-Wheel Motor Vehicle

In-wheel motor vehicles, characterized by their unique feature of independent torque control on all axles, high energy conversion efficiency, rapid motor response times, and the ability to notably decrease curb weight and streamline overall vehicle architecture, represent a significant area of advancement within the electric vehicle domain. The inherent nature of individual wheel propulsion in in-wheel motor vehicles necessitates a more rigorous torque distribution control strategy throughout the vehicle's drivetrain. This study, with a primary focus on improving vehicle stability management, delves deeply into the mechanics of vehicle instability, deriving the correlation between yaw rate, lateral displacement of the vehicle's center of gravity, and overall handling stability. Based on these findings, a specialized phase plane method for assessing instability was formulated. Utilizing an enhanced version of the dynamic surface sliding mode variable structure control technique, a direct yaw moment controller was designed for the in-wheel motor vehicles, considering the equality constraint posed by longitudinal tire forces, alongside inequality constraints related to torque limitations and road surface frictional conditions. Subsequently, an optimal torque allocator was engineered to distribute the direct yaw moment under these constraints, employing a quadratic programming approach for solving the optimal allocation problem. A comprehensive simulation model was built using MATLAB/Simulink to verify the functionality and benefits of the presented design. Moreover, practical validation was conducted through experimental testing on an in-wheel motor vehicles prototype developed by our research team, thereby affirming the practical feasibility and efficacy of the proposed solution. © 2024, The Authors. A trans-acting sRNA SaaS targeting hilD, cheA and csgA to inhibit biofilm formation of S. Enteritidis

Introduction: Salmonella Enteritidis has brought great harm to public health, animal production and food safety worldwide. The biofilm formed by Salmonella Enteritidis plays a critical role in microbial cross-contamination. Small non-coding RNAs (sRNAs) have been demonstrated to be responsible for regulating the formation of biofilm. The sRNA SaaS has been identified previously, that promotes pathogenicity by regulating invasion and virulence factors. However, whether the SaaS is implicated in regulating biofilm formation in abiotic surfaces remains unclear. Objectives: This study aimed to clarify the effect of SaaS in Salmonella Enteritidis and explore the modulatory mechanism on the biofilm formation. Methods: Motility characteristics and total biomass of biofilm of test strains were investigated by the phenotypes in three soft agar plates and crystal violet staining in polystyrene microplates. Studies of microscopic structure and extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) of biofilm on solid surfaces were carried out using confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM) and Raman spectra. Transcriptomics and proteomics were applied to analyze the changes of gene expression and EPS component. The RNA-protein pull-down and promoter–reporter β-galactosidase activity assays were employed to analyze RNA binding proteins and identify target mRNAs, respectively. Results: SaaS inhibits biofilm formation by repressing the adhesion potential and the secretion of EPS components. Integration of transcriptomics and proteomics analysis revealed that SaaS strengthened the expression of the flagellar synthesis system and downregulated the expression of curli amyloid fibers. Furthermore, RNA-protein pull-down interactome datasets indicated that SaaS binds to Hfq (an RNA molecular chaperone protein, known as a host factor for phage Qbeta RNA replication) uniquely among 193 candidate proteins, and promoter–reporter β-galactosidase activity assay confirmed target mRNAs including hilD, cheA,

Design of ABS sliding mode control system for in-wheel motor vehicle based on road identification

Aiming at the problem that the current Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) control algorithm can not make full use of the ground friction to complete the braking when emergency braking on complex roads, an ABS sliding mode control method based on road surface identification is proposed. Combined with the in-wheel motor of in-wheel motor electric vehicle, a coordinated control method of motor regenerative braking and mechanical friction braking is designed. Based on the neural network control method, the road friction coefficient is estimated to realize the identification of typical roads and dynamically obtain the optimal slip ratio of different roads. The ABS sliding mode controler is designed with the optimal slip ratio and the actual slip ratio as input, and the saturation function is used to replace the symbol function in the traditional sliding mode control to weaken the chattering problem, and then the ABS controller is designed. The research results show that compared with the traditional ABS sliding mode controller, the designed ABS neural network sliding mode controller has the following advantages: 1. Through the identification of tire-road friction coefficient by neural network, the real-time performance and road adaptability of ABS controller are improved;2. When the braking simulation is carried out at a given speed, the braking time is reduced by about 1.03 % and the braking distance is shortened by about 1.01%;3. The identification of tire-road friction coefficient is realized, which weakens the chattering problem of traditional sliding mode control and improves the stability and robustness of ABS controller.

Quality characteristics and microbial community dynamics of soy whey fermented by Tibetan kefir grains

The evolution of microbial flora was characterized during the soy whey fermentation process by Tibetan kefir grains by analyzing changes in bacterial and fungal community structures using amplicon sequencing. Moreover, changes in physicochemical indexes and active components were monitored. Acidity, pH, and oligosaccharides got a dramatic decline after 30 h of fermentation, while the aglycones isoflavones significantly increased which resulted in a noticeable increase of DPPH center dot scavenging ability from 53.0% to 70.2%, and many new aromatic volatile compounds were produced. Yeasts, lactic acid bacteria, and acetic acid bacteria grew to more than 7 log CFU/ml after fermentation. The relative abundance of Lactobacillus and Acetobacter changed dramatically in fermented soy whey, which can be ascribed to the increase in aglycone isoflavones levels, especially genistein. This research may deepen the understanding of the mechanism in the fermentation of soy whey by Tibetan kefir grains, and provide a scientific basis for the utilization of soy whey. Novelty impact statement The fermentation process of soy whey by Tibetan kefir grains was studied. Yeasts, lactic acid bacteria, and acetic acid bacteria grew to more than 7 log CFU/ml after fermentation, and Acetobacter became the dominant genus. Aglycone isoflavones and amino acid nitrogen significantly increased, and DPPH center dot scavenging ability increased to 70.2%. In addition, new aromatic volatile compounds were produced.

Photoswitchable semiconducting polymer dots for pattern encoding and superresolution imaging

Two photoswitchable semiconducting polymers were synthesized by covalently incorporating photochromic dithienylethene (DTE) into the main chains. Small size polymer dots (Pdots) were prepared and showed dynamic photoswitching upon alternate light irradiation. By virtue of the tunable photoswitching properties, effective pattern encoding and superresolution imaging with a resolution of up to about 30 nm were achieved.

The formation of dendrites associated with corrosion reactions undermines the cycling stability of aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZBs). Despite extensive efforts, conventional strategies, e.g., electrolyte modification, and artificial protection layers, often suffer from low stability. Inspired by cell membranes, a series of phospholipid analogues CnPmC is designed which can spontaneously adsorb onto the Zn electrode to form a bimolecular protective layer. By tuning the head length or the tail length of the lipid analogues, the nanostructures of the lipid layer can be modified in terms of coverage and thickness, affecting the electrochemical behavior of the electrode. The most optimal electrochemical behavior is found for the adsorption of C12P2C at a concentration of 1 mM. The bilayer formed by C12P2C is denser and more stable than those formed by other lipid analogues. The lipid bilayer facilitated the balance of Zn plating/striping, thereby effectively limiting the growth of dendrites and side reactions, further enhancing the reversibility of zinc-based aqueous batteries. In symmetric battery experiments, C12P2C can exceed 3600 h under 1 mA cm(-2) and 1 mAh cm(-2) test conditions. Thus, this study not only demonstrates a bio-friendly electrode protective material but also provides constructive suggestions on the molecular design of electrode protection material.

Transcriptomic responses of foodborne pathogens to the food matrix

Increasing evidence shows that foodborne pathogens have become both safety and economic concerns during food production, processing, distribution, storage, and consumption and have been demonstrated to be responsible for numerous disease outbreaks and food recalls. It is critical to determine how the food matrix may alter bacterial behaviors, especially survival, growth, biofilm, virulence, and antibiotic resistance. The systems and compounds in food matrices inevitably regulate specific genes and pathways of bacteria via integrated global metabolic responses, which have been demonstrated in both phenotypic and transcriptomic studies. This review presents an overview of the transcriptomic responses of pathogens to food matrices. In addition, the role of small non-coding RNA in the regulation of pathogenic behavior was summarized. This work may assist in the investigation of the interaction of microorganisms with the growth matrix or their surroundings and in the development of targeted strategies to eliminate pathogens from the food supply chains.

打击防范恐怖主义对于维护中亚地区稳定与安全有着重大意义。在内外形势深刻变化的背景下,中亚各国的反恐政策经历了两个较为明显的发展阶段。第一阶段为1991年至“9·11”事件发生前,其特点可总结为“以俄为师”;第二阶段为“9·11”事件发生后至今,其特点为自主探索。在三十多年的探索中,中亚反恐在观念上形成了严禁宗教歧视、维护联合国核心地位以及尊重国家主权及其独特身份的特征。在制度上,中亚各国纷纷建立起更强调反恐政治目的的反恐法律体系和更完备的国内外反恐组织体系;在行动上,则更注重开展多元平衡的国际反恐合作以及强调反恐举措的全面性。中亚反恐政策的调整受到中亚各国对外部势力干涉的不满、恐怖主义形势新变化以及上海合作组织规范扩散效应等因素的影响。截至目前,中亚国家已初步形成具有特色、符合自身需要的反恐策略。

Study on the structure-activity relationship of rice immunopeptides based on molecular docking

Research on food-derived immunoregulatory peptides has attracted increasing attention of scientists worldwide. However, the structure-activity relationship of rice immunopeptides was not clearly. herein, 114 rice immunopeptides were obtained by simulating the enzymatic hydrolysis of rice proteins and were further analyzed by NetMHCIipan-4.0. Subsequently, the molecular docking was used to simulate the binding of immunoreactive peptides to major histocompatibility complex class II (MHC-II) molecules. Results show that S, R, D, E, and T amino acid could easily form hydrogen bonds with MHC-II molecules, thus enhancing innate and adaptive immunity. Finally, glucose-modified rice immunopeptides were to investigate the binding of the peptides with MHC-II molecules after glycosylation modification;this provided a theoretical basis for the targeted modification of the generated immunopeptides. All in all, the present study provides a theoretical foundation to further utilize rice processing byproducts and other food products to enhance immunity.
