Diagnostic value of platelet to lymphocyte ratio in preeclampsia: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Background Using straightforward and accessible haematological parameters platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR) to diagnose preeclampsia (PE) early and precisely remains a challenge. Although several clinical studies suggested that PLR is able to diagnose PE, there has been no systematic evaluation of the diagnostic utility. Objectives To examine the diagnostic accuracy and potential applicability of PLR in the detection of PE. Study design Seven databases were searched using a combination of PLR and PE terms, and all potentially pertinent studies were systematically searched up to March 2023. All potentially relevant studies both prospective and retrospective were reviewed. To assess the diagnostic value of PLR for PE, pooled sensitivity (Sen), specificity (Spe), diagnostic odds ratio (DOR) and area under the summary receiver operating characteristic curve (SROC-AUC) were calculated. Results Thirteen studies were enrolled in the meta-analysis. In the second and third trimesters, the PLR suggested a diagnostic value for PE with a pooled Sen of 54.7% [95% confidence interval (CI) (51.7, 57.6)], Spe of 77.8% [95% CI (75.5, 80.0)], + LR of 2.457 [95% CI (1.897, 3.182)], -LR of 0.584 [95% CI (0.491, 0.695)], DOR of 4.434 [95% CI (3.071, 6.402)], the SROC-AUC of 0.7296 and the standard error (SE) of 0.0370. Conclusion For the diagnosis of PE, PLR has a limited sensitivity but an acceptable specificity, and showed moderate accuracy. Further using complete blood count (CBC) indicators such as PLR alone or in combination to diagnose and predict PE could reduce healthcare costs and improve maternal and child prognosis.

Two-dimensional (2D) materials have been widely developed due to their attractive properties. here, by using density functional theory (DFT) calculations, for the first time, we explore potential applications of the novel XIS (X = Al, Ga, In) monolayer 2D materials on photocatalytic water splitting. A series of simulations were carried out to predict and study the structural, elastic, phononic, optical and electronic properties of 2D XIS materials. The results show that GaIS and InIS demonstrate low thermal conductivity. For optical properties, AlIS shows strong light absorption coefficients and refractive index only under ultraviolet (UV) light, while GaIS and InIS show stronger performance under both visible light and UV light with the band edge positions spanned the redox potential of water. The reasonable band positions and bandgaps make them promising photocatalysts for water splitting. This work reveals the potential applications of monolayer 2D XIS in thermal, electronic, and photocatalytic water splitting. (c) 2022 Hydrogen Energy Publications LLC. Published by Elsevier Ltd. This study optimized the design of the spherical transducer based on the finite element method, and studies the impedance matching method based on the all-electric equivalent circuit model of the transducer. By employing a dual-peak resonance method, an impedance matching network was constructed to enhance its broadband characteristics. Subsequently, the transducer spherical was designed and fabricated, and its electro-acoustic properties was measured in an anechoic watertank. Without matching network spherical transducer, the resonance frequency in water is 19 kHz, with a maximum transmit voltage response (TVR) of 149.2 dB and the - 3 dB bandwidth is 9.2 kHz. When the impedance matching network is designed based on measured admittance, the prototype transducer achieves a maximum TVR of 152.9 dB and the -3 dB bandwidth is 15.6 kHz, effectively improving the broadband transmit performance of the spherical transducer.

The multi-modal target-oriented sentiment analysis aims at predicting the sentiment polarities for target entities in a sentence by combining vision and language information. However, most existing deep learning approaches fail to extract valuable information from the visual modality and ignore the usability of syntactic dependency information embedded in the text modality. In this paper, we propose a two-stream adaptive multi-feature extraction graph convolutional networks (AME-GCN), which translates the image into a textual caption and dynamically fuses the semantic and syntactic feature from the given sentence and generated caption to model the inter/intra-modality dynamics. Extensive experiments on two multi-modal Twitter datasets show the effectiveness of the proposed model against popular textual and multi-modal approaches, demonstrating that AME-GCN is a best alternative for this task. © 2022 IEEE.

A concise and efficient synthetic method for alkynyl quinolines through TfOH-promoted cascade 1,4-conjugate addition/intramolecular annulation/aromatization process is established. By virtue of reactive aza-o-AQM (in situ generated from modular propargylamine), this reaction proceeds smoothly to afford a variety of alkynyl quinolines in good to excellent yields. This transition-metal-free process features halogen groups tolerance, such as the -Cl, -Br, and -I groups;thus, this protocol circumvents the inherent shortcomings of the existing Sonogashira coupling of halogenated quinolines.

Enhancing Psychotherapeutic Alliance in College: When and How to Integrate Multimodal Large Language Models in Psychotherapy

As mental health issues rise among college students, there is an increasing interest and demand in leveraging Multimodal Language Models (MLLM) to enhance mental support services, yet integrating them into psychotherapy remains theoretical or non-user-centered. This study investigated the opportunities and challenges of using MLLMs within the campus psychotherapy alliance in China. Through three studies involving both therapists and student clients, we argue that the ideal role for MLLMs at this stage is as an auxiliary tool to human therapists. Users widely expect features such as triage matching and real-time emotion recognition. At the same time, for independent therapy by MLLM, concerns about capabilities and privacy ethics remain prominent, despite high demands for personalized avatars and non-verbal communication. Our findings further indicate that users’ sense of social identity and perceived relative status of MLLMs significantly influence their acceptance. This study provides insights for future intelligent campus mental healthcare. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

As a typical product of the transitional stage of urban development, the color steel buildings (CSBs) are easy to cause fire, which is difficult to be extinguished effectively and quickly. This paper aims at the particularity of the geographic location of the CSBs and the lack of joint application with Point of Interest (POI) and fire points in the study of urban fire risk., this paper investigated the fire risk of Lanzhou city based on above three types of data acquired in 2017. The involved data were meshed by kernel density analysis and superposition analysis. Afterward, the pairwise spatial coupling relationship of the data were visualized by two-factor cartography, through which the condition of spatial coupling were obtained. The relationship between the obtained regions and urban fire risk was further compared. The research results show that CSBs and the POI Point are highly coupled with the fire locations of Lanzhou spatially. Thus, the joint application of the two factors can be effectively utilized to evaluate the fire risk in Lanzhou. The phenomena that the CSBs outnumbered the POI Points indicates that the corresponding areas are not well urbanized and have high incidence of fire. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. ObjectiveCavernous sinus invasion (CSI) plays a pivotal role in determining management in pituitary adenomas. The study aimed to develop a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model to diagnose CSI in multiple *** total of 729 cases were retrospectively obtained in five medical centers with (n = 543) or without CSI (n = 186) from January 2011 to December 2021. The CNN model was trained using T1-enhanced MRI from two pituitary centers of excellence (n = 647). The other three municipal centers (n = 82) as the external testing set were imported to evaluate the model performance. The area-under-the-receiver-operating-characteristic-curve values (AUC-ROC) analyses were employed to evaluate predicted performance. Gradient-weighted class activation mapping (Grad-CAM) was used to determine models' regions of *** CNN model achieved high diagnostic accuracy (0.89) in identifying CSI in the external testing set, with an AUC-ROC value of 0.92 (95% CI, 0.88-0.97), better than CSI clinical predictor of diameter (AUC-ROC: 0.75), length (AUC-ROC: 0.80), and the three kinds of dichotomizations of the Knosp grading system (AUC-ROC: 0.70-0.82). In cases with Knosp grade 3A (n = 24, CSI rate, 0.35), the accuracy the model accounted for 0.78, with sensitivity and specificity values of 0.72 and 0.78, respectively. According to the Grad-CAM results, the views of the model were confirmed around the sellar region with *** deep learning model is capable of accurately identifying CSI and satisfactorily able to localize CSI in multicenters.

Neuroprotective effects of Rehmannia glutinosa polysaccharide on chronic constant light (CCL)-induced oxidative stress and autophagic cell death via the AKT/mTOR pathway in mouse hippocampus and HT-22 cells

Rehmannia glutinosa polysaccharide (RGP) has been reported to exhibit anti-anxiety effects, yet the underlying mechanism remains unclear. Chronic constant light (CCL) induced cognitive dysfunction associated with oxidative stress in mice has been reported. here, the neuroprotective effect of RGP on hippocampal neuron damage in CCL-treated mice was investigated. In vivo study, mice were subjected to CCL for 4 weeks and/or oral administration of 100, 200 and 400 mg/kg RGP every other day. In vitro experiment, hippocampal neuron cells (HT-22) was exposed to LED light and/or supplemented with 62.5, 125 and 250 mu g/mL RGP. Mice exposed to CCL showed impaired cognitive and depressive-like behavior in the hippocampus, which were reversed by RGP. Meanwhile, RGP reversed light-induced oxidative stress and autophagy both in mice and hippocampal neuron cells (HT-22). Furthermore, compared with Light-exposed group, RGP treatment activated the AKT/mTOR pathway. Importantly, the AKT inhibitor Perifosine significantly weakened the neuroprotective of RGP on Lightinduced oxidative stress and autophagy in HT-22 cells by inhibiting AKT/mTOR pathway and increasing the content of autophagy-related protein. Our data demonstrated, for the first time, that oxidative stress and the AKT/mTOR pathway plays a critical role in Light-induced apoptosis and autophagic cell death in mice and HT-22 cells.

In this study, Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy components were prepared using wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM). Through multi-scale characterisation technology, performance testing and slow strain rate tensile (SSRT) testing, the microstructure, mechanical properties and stress corrosion cracking (SCC) susceptibility of WAAM Al-Zn-Mg-Cu components were studied, revealing the generation mechanism of inhomogeneity and anisotropy. The results show that with the increase of WAAM thermal cycles, the matrix precipitates (MPs), grain boundary precipitates (GBPs) and precipitation-free zones (PFZ) evolve in different paths and increase to varying degrees, resulting in performance decrease and increase in stress corrosion susceptibility, so the inhomogeneity is mainly attributed to differences in precipitated phases. The Inter-layer inclined to the scanning direction and the Inner-layer inclined to the building direction led to anisotropy in tensile strength and SCC behaviour, so the anisotropy is mainly attributed to the grain orientation and fracture mode.
