Knee joint is one of the most important joints to participate in human daily activities and various sports. However, at present, knee joint injuries are still common for both athletes and ordinary people. Wrong exercise style and bad living habits will cause knee joint *** rehabilitation concept after knee joint injury also leads to poor prognosis in most cases of knee joint injury. Based on the above background, this paper will analyze and sort out the causes of knee joint injury, and explore the rehabilitation methods after injury, so as to provide ideas for future research on knee joint protection and rehabilitation after injury.

Social annotation is an effective tool to cultivate learners' literacy skills. Besides the learners themselves, their peers and teachers are also involved in the annotating process. To facilitate effective interactions among the different types of subjects, we redesigned the social annotation activity into a four-step learning mode and developed a collaborative reading system to support this learning mode. In this system, learners can not only annotate on specific content but also interact with their peers to exchange ideas. Specifically, before the class, learners annotate individually. In the meantime, they can see their peers' annotations and make replies. During the class, each group collaboratively reflects on the individuals' before-class annotations and completes an assigned group learning task on the system. At last, the teacher gives a summarization for the whole class. Through conducting three studies in different settings and data analysis, we found that individual annotation can positively influence the learners' understanding of learning materials and the following collaborative learning process. During the before-class annotation activity, making learners able to see peers' annotations encourages the learners to think deeply and constructively. Moreover, the detailed learning feedback on the group's annotation performance is helpful for individual and collaborative learning. Now that most of the feedbacks are crafted manually or by traditional machine learning algorithms, state-of-the-art natural language processing technology like pre-trained language model has been used to automatically detect learners' cognitive engagement and will be used to automatically generate feedback in the future. Objective: Obesity-induced mechanical changes in white adipose tissue (WAT), including adipocyte hypertrophy and fibrosis, are hypothesized to alter adipose tissue macrophage (ATM) function through mechanosensitive pathways. This study aimed to determine whether the mechanosensor Piezo1 in ATMs regulates obesity-associated metabolic dysfunction and thermogenesis. Methods: To investigate macrophage Piezo1 in obesity, myeloid-specific Piezo1-deficient mice (Piezo1 Delta lyz2) and littermate controls (Piezo1flox/+) were fed a high-fat diet (HFD) to induce obesity for 12 weeks. Metabolic assessments (GTT/ITT), tissue analyses (H&E staining, micro-CT), and RNA-seq were performed. Bone marrow transplantation and co-culture experiments (BMDMs with 3T3L1 adipocytes/PC12 neurons) were performed to evaluate macrophage-adipocyte/neuron crosstalk. Sympathetic activity was tested via cold exposure, NE measurement, and 6-OHDA/alpha MPT denervation. Molecular mechanisms were investigated using ChIP-qPCR. Results: Piezo1 Delta lyz2 mice exhibited aggravated HFD-induced obesity and insulin resistance despite reduced pro-inflammatory responses. Piezo1 deficiency in ATMs suppressed Slit3-ROBO1 signaling, leading to diminished NE secretion and impaired thermogenesis. Pharmacological inhibition of NE release (6-OHDA) or ROBO1 knockdown (shROBO1) abolished thermogenic disparities between Piezo1 Delta lyz2 and control mice. Mechanistically, Piezo1 activation triggered SP1 nuclear translocation, directly binding to the Slit3 promoter to drive Slit3 transcription and secretion. Conclusion: Piezo1 in ATMs mitigates obesity progression by promoting Slit3-ROBO1-dependent NE secretion and thermogenesis, independent of its pro-inflammatory role. This mechanosensitive pathway links WAT mechanical remodeling to metabolic regulation, which may offer a novel approach for managing obesity.

Dancing on My Own: Parasocial Love, Romantic Loneliness, and Imagined Interaction

The present study examined the relationships between people's romantic loneliness, parasocial love (PSL), and imagined interaction (II) with media figures they viewed as romantic partners. Two hundred and twenty four college students in a Chinese university participated in the survey study. Romantic loneliness was negatively related to PSL moderated by gender. The negative relationship only emerged in males but not in females. People who had II with the personae had stronger PSL in contrast those who didn’t. PSL was positively related to II's attributes of frequency and valence and functions of compensation and relationship maintenance. Frequency of II negatively mediated the relationship between romantic loneliness and PSL. © The Author(s) 2021.

Technological advances and the explosion of epidemics have contributed to a surge in the number of online learning platforms. Because single modal data is often not enough in evaluating the usability of interface interaction design for online learning platforms and multimodal data (eye movement, Electroencephalogram, skin conductance response) with advanced sensing technologies provide new possibilities to address this issue, this case study explores how multimodal data can be used to evaluate the interface design for our self-developed collaborative reading system. The results of our randomized between-subject experiments showed that, from eye movement analysis, constructive-level annotations prompt students to allocate more attention to the annotation area than active level annotations and facilitate the transition between the annotation and reading areas. From EEG data analysis, all the students stayed high concentration levels no matter the types of annotations they were reading. From SCRs analysis, although no significant difference in the level of excitement between experimental conditions was identified, students showed great individual difference within the same conditions. This study illustrated how multimodal data can be applied to interface design evaluation. © 2023 Owner/Author.

The Roles of Romantic Beliefs and Imagined Interaction in Unrequited Love

The present study examined the roles of people's romantic beliefs and imagined interactions in unrequited love. Two hundred and twenty five Chinese college students participated in a survey study. More idealized romantic beliefs were associated with stronger unrequited love. Men's unrequited love was stronger than women's. Would-be lovers who had imagined interactions with beloved ones had stronger unrequited love in contrast to those who didn’t. Unrequited love and romantic beliefs were both positively related to the imagined interaction attributes of frequency and valence and the functions of compensation and relationship maintenance. Frequency of imagined interactions positively mediated the relationship between romantic beliefs and unrequited love. © The Author(s) 2022.

On a model for the prediction of asperity interactions of the coated friction pair

Purpose Surface coatings have been introduced on the contact surfaces to protect the mechanical parts for a long time. However, in terms of the optimum design of coatings, some key coating parameters are still selected by trial and error. The optimum design of coatings can be conducted by numerical experiments. This paper aims to predict the contact behavior of the coated rough surfaces accurately. One improved asperity contact model for the coated rough surfaces considering the misalignment of asperities would be developed. Design/methodology/approach Incorporating the coated asperity contact model into the improved Greenwood Tripp-based statistical approach, the proposed model can predict the elastic-plastic behaviors of the interacting coated asperities. Findings According to numerical experiments, compared with the coated asperity contact model in which an equivalent rough surface against a plane is assumed, the improved asperity contact model for the coated contacts can account for the effect of permitting misalignment of two rough surfaces. The contacts having the thicker, stiffer and harder coatings result in higher asperity contact pressure and smaller real contact area fraction under the given Stribeck oil film ratio. Originality/value In this paper, one statistical coated asperity contact model for two rough surfaces was developed. The developed model can consider the elastic-plastic behavior of interacting coated asperities. The effects of the coating thickness and its mechanical properties on the contact behavior of the rough surfaces with coatings can be evaluated based on the developed model.

Myeloid-derived suppressor cells(MDSCs)are a heterogeneous population of immature cells and natural inhibitors of adaptive *** metabolic changes in MDSCs exert a direct immunological influence on their suppressive *** previous study demonstrated that high-dose dexamethasone(HD-DXM)corrected the functional impairment of MDSCs in immune thrombocytopenia(ITP);however,the MDSC population was not restored in nonresponders,and the mechanism remained *** this study,altered mitochondrial physiology and reduced mitochondrial gene transcription were detected in MDSCs from HD-DXM nonresponders,accompanied by decreased levels of carnitine palmitoyltransferase-1(CPT-1),a rate-limiting enzyme in fatty acid oxidation(FAO).Blockade of FAO with a CPT-1 inhibitor abolished the immunosuppressive function of MDSCs in HD-DXM *** also report that MDSCs from ITP patients had lower expression of the glucocorticoid receptor(GR),which can translocate into mitochondria to regulate the transcription of mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA)as well as the level of oxidative *** was confirmed that the expression of CPT-1 and mtDNA-encoded genes was downregulated in GR-siRNA-treated murine ***,by establishing murine models of active and passive ITP via adoptive transfer of DXM-modulated MDSCs,we confirmed that GR-silenced MDSCs failed to alleviate thrombocytopenia in mice with *** conclusion,our study indicated that impaired aerobic metabolism in MDSCs participates in the pathogenesis of glucocorticoid resistance in ITP and that intact control of MDSC metabolism by GR contributes to the homeostatic regulation of immunosuppressive cell function.

Effectiveness of the functions of classroom orchestration systems: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Researchers have designed a series of classroom orchestration systems (COSs) to support teachers' real-time classroom management of multiple social planes. However, few studies have systematically summarized the implementation of COSs' general functions (teacher awareness, class instruction, and student coordination) and investigated the effect sizes of COSs on teachers and students. This work identified 67 systems and 22 empirical papers reporting 57 studies with effect sizes to address the research gaps. The qualitative analyses summarized the foci and implementation methods of each general function. The quantitative analyses showed that the overall effects of COSs were medium: g = 0.603 for studies with the no-treatment control, g = 0.536 for studies with the treatment control. No publication bias existed, and the results were robust. Moderator analyses determined two important moderators (teacher awareness and measurement type) of the effects. Overall, the current study revealed the effectiveness of COSs in broad contexts and explained how teacher, machine and student could work together in classroom to some extent.

Telomere dysfunction in Tert knockout mice delays Braf^V600E-induced melanoma development

Telomerase activation is a crucial step in melanomagenesis, often occurring because of ultraviolet radiation (UVR)-induced mutations at the telomerase gene (TERT) promoter and rendering TERT transcription in response to the activated Raf-MAP kinase pathway by BRAF(V600E) mutation. Due to the excessively long telomeres in mice, this process does not occur during melanomagenesis in mouse models. To investigate the impact of telomere dysfunction on melanomagenesis, Braf(V600E) was induced in generations 1 and 4 ( G1 and G4) of Tert(-/-) mice. Our findings revealed that, regardless of UVR exposure, melanoma development was delayed in G4 mice, which had shorter telomeres compared to G1 and wild- type C57BL/6J (G0) mice. Moreover, many G4 tumors displayed an accumulation of excessive DNA damage, as evidenced by increased gamma H2A.X staining. Tumors from UVR-exposed mice exhibited elevated p53 protein expression. Cultured tumor cells isolated from G4 mice displayed abundant chromosomal fusions and rearrangements, indicative of telomere dysfunction in these cells. Additionally, tumor cells derived from UVB-exposed mice exhibited constitutively elevated expression of mutant p53 proteins, suggesting that p53 was a target of UVB-induced mutagenesis. Taken together, our findings suggest that telomere dysfunction hampers melanomagenesis, and targeting telomere crisis-mediated genomic instability may hold promise for the prevention and treatment of melanoma.
