Multi-modal image fusion aims to integrate images from multiple sensors, generating visually pleasing images that encompass more comprehensive and complementary information. Existing approaches favor the use of convolutional neural networks and employ simple sequential training strategies to achieve high-quality fusion conducive to subsequent perception tasks. However, these measures often overlook the attention mechanism of long-distance pixel information and struggle to achieve stable and efficient collaborative training. To overcome these issues, this paper proposes a fusion network based on the transformer for infrared and visible image fusion and applications. Specifically, we design a cross-scale attention mechanism from both Mini and Mega perspectives to integrate features between different modalities. Additionally, we adopt the concept of bi-level optimization and propose a training strategy that fully associates fusion with perception tasks. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superiority of the proposed network and strategy. Not only does it produce fusion images with good visual effects, but it also improves the performance on perception tasks compared to state-of-the-art methods. © 2023 IEEE.

Snow-Enhancement Conditions and Seeding Simulation of Stratiform Clouds in the Bayanbulak Test Area in China

In this study,we employed a three-dimensional mesoscale cold-cloud seeding model to simulate the microphysical impacts of artificial ice crystals used as cloud seeding *** objective was to elucidate the mechanism of snowfall enhancement in stratiform clouds in the Bayanbulak test area of Xinjiang,*** results indicated that the optimal seeding time was the early stages of weather system *** this case,the optimal seeding zone was identified as the northwest of the test area,especially near the cloud top(altitudes between 3500 and 4000 m,temperatures range−11 to−15℃),and the ideal concentration of catalyst was with ice crystal density of 1.0×10^(7)kg^(−1)within the target *** such conditions,the total precipitation rate in the seeding-affected area increased to 50.1 mm h^(−1).The results also showed that the favorable seeding region was featured by high content of supercooled water and low population of natural ice crystals,where artificial ice crystals could substantially increase the *** augmentation typically appeared in a unimodal pattern,with the peak formed within 2–3 h after *** in the ice–water mixed zone of a supercooled cloud facilitated rapid ice crystal growth to snow-flake pieces via the Bergeron process,which in turn consumed more supercooled water via collision–coalescence with cloud water ***,the intensive consumption of supercooled water impeded the riming process and reduced the formation of graupel particles within the *** dispersion of artificial ice crystals extended over tens of kilometers horizontally;however,in the vertical direction most particles remained approximately 1 km below the seeding layer,due to limited vertical ascent rate in the stratiform clouds restricting upward movement of artificial ice *** above results help better understand the snowfall enhancement mechanism in stratiform clouds and facilitate related weather modification practice.

Pyrrole Nitrogen Coordination Activates Intrinsically Catalytically Inert Mo for Oxygen Reduction Reaction

Electronic structure modulation is a promising approach to enhance the properties of intrinsically inert metals in an electrocatalytic oxygen reduction reaction. Herein, a molybdenum (Mo) single atom (Mo SAs) catalyst with pyrrole-rich nitrogen/oxygen double coordination has been designed and synthesized (defined as Mo SAs/N-C). The pyrrole-nitrogen (Pyrr-N) coordination was shown to effectively regulate the metal-centered electronic structure of Mo. This coordination strategy enables Mo SAs/N-C to exhibit superior catalytic activity and enhanced 4e- transfer selectivity. The electrochemical performance evaluations revealed that Mo SAs/N-C exhibit exceptional durability (with only a 2.0 mV half-wave potential decay after 5000 cycles) and resistance to methanol toxicity, outperforming commercial Pt/C (20%). Notably, as an air-cathode catalyst for zinc-air batteries, Mo SAs/N-C achieved a peak power density of 242 mW cm-2. Combining experimental results with density functional theory calculations, it was found that Pyrr-N effectively modulates the adsorption of OOH* intermediates on Mo atoms, promoting the 4e- transfer pathway and significantly enhancing the performance of the ORR. This study provides valuable insights into the role of Pyrr-N coordination in improving the performance of single-atom catalysts.

Abscisic acid (ABA) is a pivotal phytohormone involved in regulating various aspects of plant growth, development, and responses to environmental stress. The Cytochrome P450 family member ABA 8 '-hydroxylase (8 ' OH- ABA) is proposed to play a central role in the catabolic degradation of ABA. In the present study, the 8'OH-ABA gene from Medicago truncatula was isolated and functionally characterized using transgenic overexpression approaches. Under non-stress conditions, plants overexpressing 8'-OH-ABA displayed notable phenotypic variations compared to wild-type plants, including altered leaf morphology, an extended lifespan, and delayed flowering. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis revealed a reduction in cell spacing and curvature at the leaf margins, which was attributed to the smaller size of epidermal cells in the stem, ultimately contributing to a slower growth rate. Furthermore, these overexpressing plants exhibited heightened sensitivity to drought stress, an effect closely associated with 8 ' OH-ABA expression. Transcriptome analysis revealed 3814 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), with 13 genes enriched in the "abscisic acid-activated signaling pathway" and 29 in the "carotenoid biosynthesis" pathway. Notably, we identified genes directly linked to ABA responses, including the ABA 8 '-hydroxylase CYP707A2, the transcription factor gene MYC2, and the cytochrome P450 enzyme CYP78A5, which regulates organ size and leaf development. Collectively, these findings indicated the regulatory role of 8'OH-ABA in plant development and drought stress response, thereby highlighting the importance of ABA signaling in these biological processes.

城乡转型发展进程中的农村居民点用地调整应加强对其空间形态的系统认识与分类研究。本文从'点'-'面'耦合的角度构建农村居民点空间形态概念模型,基于'2+3'式抽样法选取山东省不同区域的5个典型乡镇及其内部的15个典型村庄作为研究对象,分别应用'点'属性的规模、形状和密度指标划分农村居民点类型,利用'面'属性的生产、生活和生态指标剖析农村居民点功能,进而通过对比分析揭示农村居民点'点-面'形态耦合特征。研究发现:①在'点状'形态上,典型乡镇的农村居民点规模差异较大,密度相对集聚,形状偏于不规则;经济落后地区和山区的农村居民点组合类型比较单一,经济发达和平原地区的农村居民点组合类型多样。②在'面状'形态上,农村居民点整体表现为'生产功能较好,生活功能差,生态功能一般'的特征;随着镇域内区位优势的衰减,典型村庄的生产功能逐渐降低并趋于均衡化,生活功能逐渐降低但分化程度更加剧烈,生态功能也逐渐降低但缩减幅度相对均衡。③在'点-面'形态耦合上,大规模-集聚型农村居民点的生活和生态功能偏强,小规模-分散型农村居民点的生活功能稍强,大规模-分散-不规则型农村居民点各项功能均较弱,这种组合类型和功能关系之间的关联性是外部性要素导向下农村居民点内部要素自组织演化的体现。

Heavy metals in Lagocephalus spadiceus (Richardson, 1845) from the Beibu Gulf, China: occurrence and health risk assessment

The bioaccumulation of heavy metals in marine fish poses significant threats to human health through dietary exposure. In this work, the contents of 8 heavy metals (arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), copper (Cu), mercury (Hg), manganese (Mn), nickel (Ni) and lead (Pb)) in different tissues of Lagocephalus spadiceus from the Beibu Gulf in China were investigated based on length, weight, age, and size of the fish. The estimated recoveries ranged from 94.6 % to 103.2 %. The ANOVA test results indicated significant variations in the heavy metals concentrations in different tissues. The liver exhibited the highest bioaccumulation capacity for most heavy metals (0.03-11.44 mg/kg). Liver tissues were found to contain the highest concentration of As (11.44 mg/kg) while the gills were found to contain the most Mn (1.86 mg/kg). Notably, neither sexual dimorphism nor age-dependent accumulation patterns were observed for most metals. Health risk assessment revealed acceptable hazard indices for muscle consumption but identified potential carcinogenic risks from liver intake.

The antifouling of marine facilities placed below the waterline is a key constraint to the development of the marine ***,commercial Cu_(2)O-based antifouling coatings still have defects such as agglomeration,oxidation,short duration and high *** this reason,we developed for the first time a triple antifouling system consisting of Cu_(2)O@poly(NIPAM-co-DAm)(Cu_(2)O@PND)dynamic redox micro-gels triggered by copper ions and polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS).The catechol groups of PND nanogels can chelate Cu^(2+)and reduce it in situ to obtain Cu_(2)O@PND microgels,which guarantees the stable release of Cu^(+).Furthermore,Cu_(2)O remains stable and free from oxidation because of the electron transfer between PND and Cu^(2+).Finally,superior antifouling performance was achieved by combining the stable Cu^(+)re-leased from Cu_(2)O,in situ conversion of PND to hydrogel,and its oxidation to produce active substances and H_(2)O_(2),and PDMS coating with low surface energy.

Intraoperative Speckle Variance Optical Coherence Tomography for Tissue Temperature Monitoring During Cutaneous Laser Therapy

Background: Tissue temperature monitoring during cutaneous laser therapy can lead to safer and more effective treatments. In this study, we investigate the use of speckle variance optical coherence tomography (svOCT) to monitor real-time temperature changes in the excised human skin tissue sample during laser irradiation. Methods: To accomplish this, we combined the pulse laser system with a reference-based svOCT system. To calibrate the svOCT, the ex-vivo human skin samples from three individuals with tissues collected from the arm, face, and back were heated with 1-degree increments. Additionally, linear regression was used to extract and evaluate the linear relationship between the temperature and normalized speckle variance value. Experiments were conducted on excised human skin sample to monitor the temperature change during laser therapy with a svOCT system. Thermal modeling of ex-vivo human skin was used to numerically simulate the laser-tissue interaction and estimate the thermal diffusion and peak temperature of the tissue during the laser treatment. Results and Conclusion: These results showed that normalized speckle variance had a linear relationship with the tissue temperature before the onset of tissue coagulation (52 degrees) and we were able to measure the rapid increase of the tissue temperature during laser therapy. The result of the experiment is also in good agreement with the numerical simulation result that estimated the laser-induced peak temperature and thermal relaxation time.

Adopting a non-covalent co-assembly strategy shows great potential in loading drugs efficiently and safely in drug delivery systems. However, finding an efficient method for developing high strength gels with thixotropic characteristics is still challenging. In this work, by hybridizing the low molecular weight gelator fluorenylmethyloxycarbonyl-phenylalanine (Fmoc-F) (first single network, 1st SN) and alginate (second single network, 2nd SN) into a dual network (DN) gel, gels with high strength as well as thixotropy were prepared efficiently. The DN gels showed high strength (103 Pa in SN gels and 105 Pa in DN gels) and thixotropic characteristics (yield strain <25%;recovery ratio >85% within 100 seconds). The application performance was verified by loading doxorubicin (DOX), showing better encapsulation capacity (77.06% in 1st SN, 59.11% in 2nd SN and 96.71% in DN) and sustained release performance (lasting one week under physiological conditions) than single network gels. Experimental and DFT results allowed the elaboration of the specific non-covalent co-assembly mechanism for DN gel formation and DOX loading. The DN gels were formed by co-assembly driven by H-bond and pi-pi stacking interactions and then strengthened by Ca2+-coupling. Most DOX molecules co-assembled with Fmoc-F and alginate through pi-pi stacking and H-bond interactions (DOX-I), with a few free DOX molecules (DOX-II) left. Proven by the release dynamics test, DOX was released through a diffusion-erosion process, in an order of DOX-I first and then DOX-II. This work suggests that non-covalent co-assembly is a useful technique for effective material strengthening and drug delivery.

Multicolor imaging allows protein colocalizations and organelle interactions to be studied in biological research,which is especially important for single-molecule localization microscopy(SMLM).Here,we propose a multicolor method called excitation-resolved stochastic optical reconstruction microscopy(ExR-STORM).The method,which is based on the excitation spectrum of fluorescent dyes,successfully separated four spectrally very close far-red organic fluorophores utilizing three excitation lasers with cross-talk of less than 3%.Dyes that are only 5 nm apart in the emission spectrum were resolved,resulting in negligible chromatic *** method was extended to three-dimensional(3D)imaging by combining the astigmatic method,providing a powerful tool for resolving 3D morphologies at the nanoscale.
