A Low-Voltage and LDO-Less Wireless Pressure Sensor Readout System With Current Mode Pseudo-PLL and Charge Pump-Powered UWB Data Transmission for Implantable Health Monitoring

This article presents an implantable pressure sensor readout system (IPRO) that can work at low voltage and does not need an internal low dropout regulator (LDO). This article has made a series of optimizations for power consumption. The power supply of IPRO uses 434-MHz energy harvesting (EH), which only uses two-stage rectification and is equipped with a corresponding ultralow power undervoltage locking (UVLO) circuit. The analog front-end (AFE) and signal-processing parts use current mode and differential pseudo-phase-locked loop (DPPLL), which can work stably under low voltage and maintain a certain degree of accuracy and power rejection ability. The wireless data transmission part adopts the impulse ultrawideband (IR-UWB) scheme. Its ultralow power consumption allows it to be powered by a charge pump, which is the first time it has been proposed in implantable systems. To further optimize power consumption, the simplest encoding circuit suitable for the front-end output form was proposed, and a power oscillator (PO) with accelerated start-up was used to optimize area and power consumption. The system is implemented in a 180-nm complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) process, with a chip area of 1.1 * 1.0 mm(2). The measurement results indicate that the typical working voltage of the IPRO is 0.8 V, the typical power consumption is 11.8 mu W, and the accuracy is 1.11 mmHg. Compared with existing designs, there is a significant optimization in supply voltage and power consumption.

Cross-resistance and genetics of field-evolved resistance to chlorfenapyr in Plutella xylostella

Chlorfenapyr is a broad-spectrum halogenated pyrrole insecticide with a unique mode of *** to the misuse and overuse of this chemical,resistance has been reported in several arthropods,including Plutella xylostella,which is one of the most destructive insect pests afflicting crucifers worldwide.A better understanding of the cross-resistance and genetics of field-evolved chlorfenapyr resistance could effectively guide resistance management ***,the chlorfenapyr resistance of a fieldderived population of P xylostella was introgressed into the susceptible IPP-S strain using a selection-assisted multigenerational backcrossing *** constructed nearisogenic strain,TH-BCsF2,shared 98.4%genetic background with the recurrent parent IPP-S *** TH-BCsF2 strain showed 275-fold resistance to chlorfenapyr,but no significant cross-resistance to spinosad,abamectin,chlorpyrifos,β-cypermethrin,indoxacarb,chlorantraniliprole,or broflanilide(no more than 4.2-fold).Genetic analysis revealed that resistance was autosomal,incompletely dominant,and conferred by 1 major gene or a few tightly linked *** synergism of metabolic inhibitors(PBO,DEM,and DEF)to chlorfenapyr was very weak(<1.7-fold),and the metabolic enzyme activities in the TH-BCsF2 strain were not significantly elevated compared with the IPP-S *** results enhances our understanding of the genetic traits of chlorfenapyr resistance,and provides essential information for improving resistance management strategies.

Comparative Analysis of Residents' Willingness to Pay for Diverse Low-Carbon Measures in Hangzhou, China: Implications for Urban Sustainability and Policy

Chinese cities have made significant progress in fostering low-carbon societies and piloting a variety of low-carbon measures. Nonetheless, the effective implementation of these initiatives and the long-term upkeep of related amenities rely heavily on resident support. The existing studies provide limited insight into how local residents perceive and endorse different types of low-carbon measures, which often involve varying trade-offs. Addressing this gap, the present study surveyed the willingness to pay (WTP) of residents in Hangzhou-an early adopter of low-carbon practices in China-across five representative low-carbon measures. Survey data were collected from 13 distinct residential neighborhoods. The results indicate that Hangzhou residents are more inclined to financially support measures offering direct personal benefits compared to those benefiting the collective good, with this tendency being notably pronounced among highly educated individuals. Further findings include the following: (1) respondents aware of ongoing low-carbon measures were more willing to pay for them;(2) male respondents, recent migrants (within the past five years), high-income groups, and residents in aging communities tended to contribute higher amounts;(3) providing detailed information on carbon mitigation effects markedly increased both the likelihood and the magnitude of WTP;(4) the promotion of new energy vehicles (NEVs) remains contentious, particularly between NEV owners and gasoline vehicle owners. These findings highlight the need for targeted policies and educational programs to strengthen public awareness and support for low-carbon interventions, thereby advancing sustainability in fast-growing urban centers like Hangzhou. Overall, these findings provide key insights for the formulation of low-carbon city policies and sustainable urban planning, emphasizing the global importance of local socioeconomic dynamics and offering a valuable reference for cities worldwide seeking

Electrochemical energy conversion and storage, such as electrocatalytic hydrogen generation, metal-air batteries, and fuel cells, are one of the most efficient and reliable systems for renewable energy storage, which address the intermittency of renewable energy systems. However, the energy conversion efficiency is severely restricted by the oxygen redox catalysis, including the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), because of the sluggish kinetics. To date, state-of-the-art oxygen electrocatalysts are noble-metal-based materials (such as Pt-, Ru- and Ir-), but the limited resources and high cost impede their practical applications. Thus, the development of efficient, durable, and low-cost noble-metal-free oxygen electrocatalysts is significantly important to realize the widespread applications and advance those electrochemical technologies. In this thesis, I aim to develop earth-abundant transition-metal-based catalysts with high electrocatalytic activity and durability and reveal the reaction mechanisms that lead to the enhancement effects of the developed catalysts. For transition-metal-based layered double hydroxides (LDHs) to become more competitive OER catalysts, substantial progress is required to advance the catalytic activity and durability. I developed a robust electrode composed of Ni 3 S 2 -embedded NiFe LDH heterostructured nanosheets with a porous structure supported on nickel foam (NF) via a one-pot solution approach at room temperature in 15 min. The as-prepared Ni 3 S 2 -NiFe LDH/NF catalyst delivers 50, 500, and 1000 mA cm −2 with an overpotential of only 230, 285 and 303 mV for oxygen evolution reaction, respectively. In situ and ex-situ analysis reveal that the Ni 3 S 2 was in situ partially transformed under an electrooxidation environment into NiOOH over an equally important electrically conductive Ni 3 S 2 to drive proficient catalysis. SCDA-Net: Structure Completion and Density Awareness Network for LiDAR-Based 3D Object Detection

As a fundamental task in various application scenarios, including autonomous driving and mobile robotic systems, 3D object detection has received extensive attention from researchers in both academia and industry. However, due to the working principle of LiDAR and external factors such as occlusion, the collected point cloud of the object is usually sparse and incomplete, which affects the performance of 3D object detector. In this letter, a Structure Completion and Density Awareness Network (SCDA-Net) is proposed for 3D object detection from point clouds. Specifically, a structure completion module is designed to predict dense shapes of complete point clouds by leveraging sequence transduction ability of the transformer architecture. Furthermore, we propose a density-aware voxel RoI pooling strategy to introduce density features that reflect the state information of the original objects in refinement stage. By restoring the complete structure of the objects and considering the true distribution of the points in raw point cloud, the proposed method achieves more accurate feature extraction and scene perception. Extensive experimental results on the KITTI and Waymo datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed SCDA-Net.

Transgenic expression of SeCYP9A186 and PxFMO2 confers resistance to emamectin benzoate in Plutella xylostella

BACKGROUNDThe overexpression of metabolic enzymes constitutes a crucial mechanism for insects to detoxify xenobiotics and metabolic pesticides. A flavin-containing monooxygenase gene (PxFMO2) from Plutella xylostella and a P450 gene (SeCYP9A186, F116V mutant allele) from Spodoptera exigua have been reported to be involved in insecticide resistance. In this study, we aim to utilize transgenic technology to validate their in vivo detoxification functions in Plutella *** established two transgenic strains of Plutella xylostella with expressing an endogenous PxFMO2 gene from Plutella xylostella and an exogenous SeCYP9A186 gene from S. exigua, respectively. Bioassays demonstrated that the transgenic Plutella xylostella strain (IPP-FMO2) expressing PxFMO2 exhibited a 12-fold resistance to emamectin benzoate and a 6.4-fold resistance to chlorantraniliprole compared to the background strain (IPP-S). In contrast, the transgenic Plutella xylostella strain (IPP-9A186) expressing SeCYP9A186 displayed a 235-fold resistance to emamectin benzoate and a 115-fold resistance to abamectin. Moreover, resistance to emamectin benzoate in the IPP-9A186 strain of Plutella xylostella was inherited as an incompletely dominant trait and was genetically linked to the transgene *** results not only elucidated the in vivo contribution of the PxFMO2 and SeCYP9A186 to the insecticide resistance phenotype in Plutella xylostella, but also provided a genetic engineering toolkit to manipulate resistance pathways. Influenza A virus(IAV)binds sialic acid receptors on the cell surface to enter the host cells,which is the key step in initiating infection,transmission and *** the factors that contribute to the highly efficient entry of IAV into human cells will help elucidate the mechanism of viral entry and pathogenicity,and provide new targets for *** the present study,we reported a novel membrane protein,C1QTNF5,which binds to the hemagglutinin protein of IAV and promotes IAV infection in vitro and in *** found that the HA1 region of IAV hemagglutinin is critical for the interaction with C1QTNF5 protein,and C1QTNF5 interacts with hemagglutinin mainly through its N-terminus(1–103 aa).In addition,we further demonstrated that overexpression of C1QTNF5 promotes IAV entry,while blocking the interaction between C1QTNF5 and IAV hemagglutinin greatly inhibits viral ***,C1QTNF5 does not function as a receptor to mediate IAV infection in sialic acid-deficient CHO-Lec2 cells,but promotes IAV to attach to these cells,suggesting that C1QTNF5 is an important attachment factor for *** work reveals C1QTNF5 as a novel IAV attachment factor and provides a new perspective for antiviral strategies.

Detection and functional validation of point mutations in acetylcholinesterase-1 associated with organophosphate resistance in field populations of Helicoverpa armigera

Point mutations in the acetylcholinesterase-1 gene ( ace-1 ) have been associated with resistance to OPs in many insects. However, the presence and function of ace-1 mutations associated with OP resistance in Helicoverpa armigera (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), a significant lepidopteran pest damaging a wide range of crops, remain largely *** study investigated resistance to the OP insecticide phoxim in 12 field populations of H. armigera from northern China in 2022, revealing low levels of resistance (2.5- to 6.7-fold). Using an amplicon sequencing approach, we screened for ace-1 mutations in 13,874 moths collected from 114 populations collected between 2006 and 2022. We found 3 amino acid substitutions (A201S, G227E, and F290V) potentially related to OP resistance. The mean frequencies ofA201S, G227E, and F290V mutations were 0.0032, 0.0001, and 0.0001, *** assess these mutations' role in OP resistance, we expressed wild-type and mutant AChE1 proteins in Sf9 cells. Biochemical characterization revealed a 3.1-fold and 3.3-fold increase in the I 50 of chlorpyrifos-oxon for A201S and F290V mutants compared to the wild-type enzyme, correlating with a 2.9- fold and 2.7-fold decrease in the Ki value. No enzyme activity was observed in the G227E mutant, indicating that only A201S and F290V confer insensitivity to chlorpyrifos-oxon. Our study demonstrates that amplicon sequencing is an effective method for large-scale screening of resistance-associated point mutations in field populations of H. armigera and potentially other insect pests. It also identifies A201S and F290V in AChE1 as potential point mutations conferring OP resistance in field populations of H. armigera.
