Femtosecond laser fabrication metasurface emitter for multispectral camouflage

The powerful electromagnetic capability of a metasurface makes it a good candidate for thermal emission manipulation toward promising infrared (IR) camouflage and thermal management technology. Here, a metasurface-based infrared is fabricated to achieve multispectral camouflage as well as radiative cooling simultaneously. Cross-scale processing on metal-dielectric composite films is successfully achieved by femtosecond laser direct writing (FsLDW), which is proven to be an efficient and feasible technique in metasurface fabrication. The prepared emitter exhibits low emissivity (epsilon 3-5 mu m = 0.32, epsilon 8-14 mu m = 0.31) in atmospheric windows but high absorption in 10.6 mu m so that it can effectively evade the tracking of infrared detectors and laser radars. Besides, the emitter also has high emissivity in the undetected band (epsilon 5-8 mu m = 0.66) to dissipate possible heat accumulation. The proposed metasurface design and fabrication method empowers new ideas for the generation of optical devices toward multispectral camouflage and radiative cooling compatibility. Metal-organic framework crystal-glass composite (MOF CGC) materials consist of a crystalline MOF embedded within a MOF-glass matrix. In this work, a new synthetic route to these materials is demonstrated through the preparation of two ZIF-62 glass-based CGCs, one with crystalline ZIF-67 and the other with crystalline UiO-66. Previous attempts to form these CGCs failed due to the high processing temperatures involved in heating above the melting point of ZIF-62. Annealing of the ZIF-62 glass above the glass transition with each MOF however leads to stable CGC formation at lower temperatures. The reduction in processing temperatures will enable the formation of a greatly expanded range of MOF CGCs.

On -chip implementation of optical nonlinear activation functions (NAFs) is essential for realizing large-scale photonic neural chips. To improve the reconfigurability and enrich the functions of photonic neural network (PNN), an NAF unit with a unique capability of performing multiple types of NAFs is highly preferred. In this work, we propose and experimentally demonstrate a microdisk modulator (MDM)-assisted NAF unit, in which multiple types of electro-optic NAFs with a high response speed and multiple types of all -optical NAFs with a low latency and reduced power consumption are performed in a single device. The fabricated MDM has an add -drop configuration, in which a lateral PN junction is incorporated to achieve high-speed resonance wavelength tuning. With the use of the high-speed nonlinear electro-optic effect, three different kinds of electro-optic NAFs including sigmoid function, radial basis function (RBF), and negative rectified linear unit (ReLU) function are realized by exploiting the free -carrier dispersion effect on silicon. Moreover, thanks to the strong optical confinement in the disk cavity, all -optical NAFs can be performed by exploiting the thermo-optic effect on silicon. In the experiment, four different kinds of all -optical NAFs including softplus function, RBF, clamped ReLU function, and leaky ReLU function are demonstrated. With the use of the realized clamped ReLU function, a convolutional neural network is simulated to perform a handwritten digit classification benchmark task, and an accuracy as high as 98 % is demonstrated. Thanks to its strong electro-optic and thermo-optic effects, the proposed MDM provides a unique capability of performing multiple types of electro-optic and all -optical NAFs, which is potential to be served as a flexible nonlinear unit in large-scale PNN chips.

BackgroundResearchers gradually focus on the relationship between phage and *** summarize the research hotspots and trends in the field of bacteriophage and *** downloaded articles were searched from the Web of Science Core Collection database from January 2008 to June 2023. Bibliometric analysis was carried out through CiteSpace, including the analysis of cooperative networks (country/region, institution, and author), co-citations of references, and key *** analysis of three topics, including gut phage, phage and bacteria, and phage and tumor, was ***, the United States and China have the most phage-related research. In terms of gut phage, the future research directions are "gut microbiome", "database" and "microbiota". The bursting citations explored the phage-dominated viral genome to discover its diversity and individual specificity and investigated associations among bacteriome, metabolome, and virome. In terms of phage and bacteria, "lipopolysaccharide" and "microbiota" are future research directions. Future research hotspots should mainly concentrate on the further exploration and application of phage properties. As for phages and tumors, the future research directions should be "colorectal cancer", "protein" and "phage therapy". Future directions are likely to focus on the research on phages in cancer mechanisms, cancer diagnosis, and cancer treatment combined with genetic engineering *** therapy would become a hot spot and research direction of tumor and phage research, and the relationship between phage and tumor, especially colorectal cancer (CRC), is expected to be further explored.

Development and validation of prediction models for nosocomial infection and prognosis in hospitalized patients with cirrhosis

Background Nosocomial infections (NIs) frequently occur and adversely impact prognosis for hospitalized patients with cirrhosis. This study aims to develop and validate two machine learning models for NIs and in-hospital mortality risk prediction. Methods The Prediction of Nosocomial Infection and Prognosis in Cirrhotic patients (PIPC) study included hospitalized patients with cirrhosis at the Qingchun Campus of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University. We then assessed several machine learning algorithms to construct predictive models for NIs and prognosis. We validated the best-performing models with bootstrapping techniques and an external validation dataset. The accuracy of the predictions was evaluated through sensitivity, specificity, predictive values, and likelihood ratios, while predictive robustness was examined through subgroup analyses and comparisons between models. Results We enrolled 1,297 patients into derivation cohort and 496 patients into external validation cohort. Among the six algorithms assessed, the Random Forest algorithm performed best. For NIs, the PIPC-NI model achieved an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.784 (95% confidence interval [CI] 0.741-0.826), a sensitivity of 0.712, and a specificity of 0.702. For in-hospital mortality, the PIPC- mortality model achieved an AUC of 0.793 (95% CI 0.749-0.836), a sensitivity of 0.769, and a specificity of 0.701. Moreover, our PIPC models demonstrated superior predictive performance compared to the existing MELD, MELD-Na, and Child-Pugh scores. Conclusions The PIPC models showed good predictive power and may facilitate healthcare providers in easily assessing the risk of NIs and prognosis among hospitalized patients with cirrhosis.

Imaging Manifestation and Pathological Comparison of the Peritoneal Loose Body: A Case Report and Review of the Literature

Background Peritoneal loose body (PLB) which is also called "peritoneal mouse" is a rare disease, with only a few cases reported. PLB is mostly found due to unplanned examination, surgery, or autopsy. With the increase in abdominal imaging examinations, it was gradually recognized by us. The diagnosis of PLB has three major characteristics: free movement, no blood supply, and pathological exclusion of other tumors. Case Presentation We reported a 66-year-old male patient with an asymptomatic freely moving peritoneal loose body. The size of the lesion was about 4*4cm. The imaging data were complete including Ultrasound, Magnetic resonance (MR), Computed tomography (CT) plain scan and enhancement. Interestingly, changes in the location of the lesion were found on follow-up CT. The lesion showed concentric circles changes on CT without obvious enhancement. MR also appeared as a multi-layer signal of concentric circles. In addition, the imaging manifestations were compared with histological pathology in this article to explain imaging characteristics. Conclusion PLB is an uncommon disease. Through the complete imaging examination of this case, we can further understand the mobility of the lesion by changing the position. The CT and MR have characteristic concentric circle changes without obvious enhancement. The diagnosis could be confirmed before surgery, which prompted the clinical early diagnosis of the disease, and an appropriate choice between surgery and conservative treatment.

Reactivity Control of Oxidative CL-20@PVDF Composite Microspheres by Using Carbon Nanomaterials as Catalysts

2,4,6,8,10,12-hexanitro-2,4,6,8,10,12-hexaazaisowurtzitane (CL-20) is one of the high-energy oxidants, but has limited application due to its high sensitivity. In this work, polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) was used as a co-oxidizer, which is expected to increase the safety of CL-20. One kind of novel graphene-based carbohydrazide complex (GCCo and GCNi) was employed to modify the properties of dual-oxidant CL-20@PVDF composites by the spray drying method and compared with traditional nanocarbon materials (CNTs and GO). The properties of these composites were investigated using the TGA/DSC technique and impact test. The results show that GCCo and GCNi could increase the activation energy (Ea) of CL-20@PVDF composites, and change the physical model of CL-20@PVDF, which followed the random chain scission model and then the first-order reaction model. In addition, these nanocarbon materials could reduce the impact sensitivity of CL-20@PVDF by their unique structure. Besides that, a dual-oxidant CL-20@PVDF system was used to improve the combustion property of Boron. GCCo and GCNi with the synergetic effect could increase the flame temperature and control the burn rate of CL-20@PVDF@B compared with CNTs and GO. The energetic nanocarbon catalyst-modified oxidant provides a facile method for stabilizing high-energy but sensitive materials to broaden their application.

Mechanism study of flow characteristics of molten pool and keyhole dynamic behavior of K-TIG welding

The stability and reliability of K-TIG welding depend on the flow characteristics of molten pool and the dynamic behavior of keyhole. This work built a mathematical model of K-TIG welding in order to describe the variation mechanism between the flow behavior of liquid metal and the dynamic behavior of the keyhole while taking electromagnetic force, surface tension, buoyancy, etc., into consideration. The simulation results of the keyhole exit were compared with images of the keyhole exit taken by the high-speed CCD camera and the keyhole exit characteristic parameters, the deviation of keyhole outlet parameters (length along the welding direction XL and length perpendicular to the welding direction YL) under each group of process parameters was less than 0.2 mm, and the deviation of SA was less than 0.4 mm2. The flow trend of molten metal in keyhole formation was mainly from the center of keyhole to the surrounding of the keyhole under the consideration of electromagnetic force, surface tension, etc. The trend of melt pool distribution decreased along the perimeter of the keyhole and the thickness of the workpiece, and the overall flow field was stepped. Moreover, the keyhole exit was in a dynamic equilibrium state under the action of gravity, surface tension, and arc pressure. The reduction in welding speed accelerated the formation of the keyhole exit and increased the maximum flow velocity of molten metal under the influence of Marangoni forces.

Middle Jurassic intracontinental evolution of East Asia: Insights from the Tianshifu-Dongyingfang basin of the Liaodong Peninsula, NE China

The Middle Jurassic intracontinental shortening event in East Asia, known as epi-sode A of the Yanshanian Movement in the eastern North China Craton and the first phase of the Daebo Orogeny in the Korean Peninsula, respectively, has been thoroughly studied during the past two decades. How-ever, the timing of its beginning, duration, and deformational processes are still highly controversial because few studies have probed the correlations between episode A of the Yanshanian Movement and the first phase of the Daebo Orogeny. The Tianshifu-Dongyingfang basin, located in the northern Liaodong Peninsula, is filled with complete Jurassic sequences that can be compared with those in the eastern North China Cra-ton to the west of the Tan-Lu fault zone and the Korean Peninsula. Regional stratigraphic correlations suggest that the Tianshifu-Don-gyingfang basin contains not only the syntec-tonic conglomerates, but also the lower and upper unconformities A1 and A2 of episode A of the Yanshanian Movement, which sepa-rated the syntectonic conglomerates from the underlying Early-Middle Jurassic coal measures and the overlying Late Jurassic red beds, respectively. Detailed field survey and structural analysis show that the devel-opment of syntectonic conglomerates and unconformities A1 and A2 were controlled by the imbricate thrust fault system in the base-ment, which resulted from the WNW-ESE compression inversed from the fault-slip data. The youngest detrital zircon U-Pb ages obtained near unconformities A1 and A2 show that the WNW-ESE compression of episode A of the Yanshanian Movement in the Lia-odong Peninsula initiated at ca. 171 Ma and ended at least by 163 Ma. Our new structural and geochronological data, combined with data from the neighboring areas, suggest that episode A of the Yanshanian Movement and the first phase of the Daebo Orogeny belong to a single intracontinental shorten-ing event, the compressional deformation of which was derived from the westward, low -angl

Ursolic acid, a natural endogenous compound, inhibits browning in fresh-cut apples

Enzymatic browning occurs rapidly in fresh-cut apples and can lead to economic losses. Although various methods have been developed to prevent this browning, physical methods are costly, and chemical methods are controversial, suggesting the potential usefulness of an endogenous natural browning inhibitor. In this study, the effects of ursolic acid (UA), a natural endogenous compound, on apple browning were investigated. It was found that UA inhibited the activity of polyphenol oxidase through Cu2+ chelation. Molecular docking indicated that the inhibition was reversible and mixed-type. Moreover, UA treatment promoted the scavenging of reactive oxygen species in fresh-cut apple and reduced the proliferation of microorganisms on the apple surface. Similar effects were observed on the browning of chestnut, eggplant, potatoes, and pears. In conclusion, the findings demonstrate the efficacy of UA on inhibiting browning in fresh-cut apple, together with an analysis of the mechanism involved.
