In comparison to land-based nuclear facilities, floating nuclear power platforms situated at sea are frequently exposed to wave impacts, resulting in periodic oscillations of the platform. These oscillations have the potential to affect systems, equipment, and pipelines. Of greater concern are the more severe effects caused by high significant wave heights and the greater energy density of destructive waves, which directly impact the health and safety of the floating nuclear power station system. To address this, it is crucial to consider the impact of extreme ocean conditions caused by waves as a design basis accident, utilizing a deterministic evaluation approach. Therefore, this paper presents a three-level framework for analyzing the hazards of waves in the context of floating nuclear power platforms. It systematically evaluates the impact of wave hazards by considering three key aspects: statistical analysis of wave intensity and frequency in the sea area, hydrodynamic simulation of the floating nuclear power station, and assessment of system safety. © 2023 IEEE.

A new 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivative (BPOXD-B8) was synthesized. The emission properties of BPOXD-B8 in different solutions were studied. BPOXD-B8 could form organogels in different solvents, especially in methanol. The gelation and self-assembly properties of BPOXD-B8 were investigated by SEM, X-ray diffraction (XRD), temperature-dependent FTIR, and UV-vis. The main driving forces during self-assembly are pi-pi interaction and the van der Waals force. In addition, the BPOXD-B8 solution showed fluorescence sensing properties for Fe3+ ions. BPOXD-B8 with a relatively low detection limit (0.079 mu M) and relatively small standard deviations (<5%) indicate that the present system is indeed suitable for real-life sample analysis.

Transportation-related carbon emissions are a hot area of research in the world today. This paper collected existing literature in the field of transportation carbon emissions from the Web of Science core dataset from 2005 to 2021. The research status, hot research topics, and the development trend of transportationrelated carbon emissions were reviewed based on CiteSpace and VOSviewer from the aspects of national collaboration, institutional collaboration, author collaboration, journal sources, keywords, and literature co-citation. The main conclusions and contributions: (1) Since the Paris Agreement, the heat of transportation-related carbon emissions research has increased rapidly, China, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany as major contributors, however, the partnership between countries, institutions, and authors is not close enough. (2) The focus of research has changed from environmental benefits and energy substitution to electrified transportation and intelligent path design. (3) The research framework of transportationrelated carbon emissions was developed from energy, transportation tool, regional emission, and epidemic event, and the clustering terms in the co-citation of the literature were categorized and analyzed according to the keywords they contained, to refine the research progress and trends in the field of transportation-related carbon emissions. Finally, we propose some suggestions for future research, hoping to provide more references for subsequent researchers.

We previously showed that hydrogen sulfide(H2S)has a neuroprotective effect in the context of hypoxic ischemic brain injury in neonatal ***,the precise mechanism underlying the role of H2S in this situation remains *** this study,we used a neonatal mouse model of hypoxic ischemic brain injury and a lipopolysaccharide-stimulated BV2 cell model and found that treatment with L-cysteine,a H2S precursor,attenuated the cerebral infarction and cerebral atrophy induced by hypoxia and ischemia and increased the expression of miR-9-5p and cystathionineβsynthase(a major H2S synthetase in the brain)in the prefrontal *** also found that an miR-9-5p inhibitor blocked the expression of cystathionineβsynthase in the prefrontal cortex in mice with brain injury caused by hypoxia and ***,miR-9-5p overexpression increased cystathionine-β-synthase and H2S expression in the injured prefrontal cortex of mice with hypoxic ischemic brain injury.L-cysteine decreased the expression of CXCL11,an miR-9-5p target gene,in the prefrontal cortex of the mouse model and in lipopolysaccharide-stimulated BV-2 cells and increased the levels of proinflammatory cytokines BNIP3,FSTL1,SOCS2 and SOCS5,while treatment with an miR-9-5p inhibitor reversed these *** findings suggest that H2S can reduce neuroinflammation in a neonatal mouse model of hypoxic ischemic brain injury through regulating the miR-9-5p/CXCL11 axis and restoringβ-synthase expression,thereby playing a role in reducing neuroinflammation in hypoxic ischemic brain injury.

Orbital mixing is paramount to chemistry as it plays a central role in bond formation. It is also important for technologies such as molecular doping of polymers, where the concept of fractional charge transfer is essentially orbital mixing between dopants and hosts. Likewise, it would be both fundamentally interesting and technologically relevant to investigate orbital mixing in emerging hybrid materials containing both inorganic and organic moieties. Here we report experimental observation of orbital mixing between valence band levels of strongly confined PbS quantum dots (QDs) and lowest unoccupied molecular levels of surface-bound high-electron affinity molecules (F4TCNQ), manifested as both an absorption blue-shift of PbS and the emergence of visible and infrared signatures of the fractional charge-transfer species of F4TCNQ. The degree of mixing can be controlled by varying the QD size or by varying the molecule/QD ratio for a specific QD size and can be quantitatively reproduced by a nondegenerate, two-level perturbation model. Battle between Gut Bacteria, Immune System, and Cry1Ac Toxin in Plutella xylostella

Research on Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt)-pest interactions has prioritized Cry toxin receptors, with limited attention to gut bacteria's role in modulating Bt sensitivity. This study identified two Enterobacter strains in Plutella xylostella with opposing effects on Cry1Ac susceptibility. Enterobacter hormaechei (PxG15) degraded Cry1Ac protoxin and activated the proPO-AS and JNK pathway, which reduced Cry1Ac's damage to the midgut while limiting the invasion of gut bacteria into the hemolymph. Although Enterobacter asburiae (PxG1) rapidly activated the proPO-AS, the JNK pathway was activated in a much slower and weaker mode when compared to PxG15, which attenuated the repairing efficiency of the midgut under the treatment of Cry1Ac, leading to death resulting from sepsis from the quick invasion of gut bacteria into the hemolymph. This study illustrates the intricate interrelationships among Cry1Ac, the pest's midgut bacteria, and its immune system, offering novel insights into how gut bacteria shape pest survival following Cry1Ac exposure.

H2S improves hippocampal synaptic plasticity in SPS rats via PI3K/AKT signaling pathway

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a severe mental illness that could impose heavy burdens on individuals and society, but effective and precise treatment modalities are unknown. The level of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in the brain plays an important role in psychiatric diseases. However, it is still unclear whether PTSD exposure could affect the level of H2S and whether there is a correlation between H2S levels and the pathogenesis of PTSD. In this study, we selected single prolonged stress (SPS) as a PTSD model and found that SPS exposure decreased the endogenous H2S content accompanied by abnormal behavioral changes and dysregulation of the hippocampal synaptic plasticity in SPS rats. We further found that the exogenous administration of H2S could alleviate PTSD-like behaviors and improve hippocampal synaptic plasticity in SPS rats. In addition, we further used the phosphatidylinositol-3 kinase (PI3K) inhibitor LY294002 to interfere with the PI3K/AKT/BDNF signaling pathway. It was found that LY294002 significantly blocked the anti-anxiety effect and the improvement in synaptic plasticity derived from the exogenous administration of H2S in SPS rats. These results suggested that the endogenous H2S content was decreased in SPS rats, and that the exogenous administration of H2S could ameliorate abnormal disorders and improve hippocampal synaptic plasticity by mediating the PI3K/AKT pathway.

Research on performance assessment of students' inquiry skills in China's elementary schools: a video analysis of Beijing discovering science around us

Background It is critical to analyse and evaluate elementary school students' scientific inquiry skills to promote inquiry-based teaching and learning and to develop students' scientific inquiry skills. Compared with the analysis of students' scientific inquiry skills based on paper and pen tests and classroom teaching videos, the direct analysis of primary school students' video works on the scientific inquiry can more intuitively and comprehensively reflect students' actual scientific inquiry ability. Purpose This study aims to analyse scientific inquiry abilities of students in Chinese elementary school through video works and to reflect students' scientific inquiry abilities authentically and comprehensively by using performance assessment. Sample 32 high-integrity physics videos on material science topics were further evaluated for analysis. Design and Methods The study proposed the analytical framework of students' scientific inquiry skills combined with the existing research, and the content analysis of the participating videos was carried out accordingly, which realized the performance assessment of students' scientific inquiry skills. Results Only 40.59%entries had completed elements of scientific inquiry. The scores for hypothesis making and reflection evaluation were 1.37 and 1.71, which were relatively complex and showed that students' performance was weak. The highest scores for the ability to inquire and the view of scientific inquiry were gotten by the students in grade 4 and no outstanding performance was shown by the students in grade 6 . Conclusion First, the lowest level of scientific inquiry was found in making hypotheses and reflective evaluation performance. Second, students' scientific inquiry skills did't show a dominant correlation with grade, and students' inquiry skills don't necessarily increase naturally with increased knowledge and skills. In addition, the degree of openness to inquiry did not fully characterize students' inquiry skills

High-resolution observations of short-term changes in sea ice are critical to understanding ice dynamics and also provide important information used in advice to shipping,especially in the *** individual satellite sensors provide periodic sea ice obser-vations with spatial resolutions of tens of meters,information regarding changes that occur over short time intervals of minutes or hours is *** this study,a gridded ice-water classification dataset with a high temporal resolution was developed based on observations acquired by multiple satellite sensors in the Marginal Ice Zone(MIZ).This dataset-DynIceData-which combines Sentinel-1 Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR)data with Gaofen-3(GF-3)SAR and SDGSAT-1 thermal infrared imagery was used to obtain observations of the MIZ with a range of temporal resolutions ran-ging from minutes to tens of *** areas of the Arctic covered include the Kara Sea,Beaufort Sea,and Greenland Sea during the period from August 2021 to August ***-oriented segmen-tation and thresholding were used to obtain the ice-water classifi-cation map from Sentinel-1 and GF-3 SAR image pairs and Sentinel-1 SAR and SDGSAT-1 thermal image *** time interval between the images in each pair ranged from 1 minute to 68 ***-kilometer grid sample granules with a spatial resolution of 25 m for the GF-3 SAR data and 30 m for the SDGSAT-1 thermal data were *** classification was verified as having an overall accuracy of at least 95.58%.The DynIceData dataset consists of 7338 samples,which could be used as reference data for further research on rapid changes in sea ice patterns at different short time scales and provide support for research on thermodynamic and dynamic models of sea ice in combination with other environmen-tal data,thus potentially improving the accuracy of sea ice forecast-ing using Artificial *** dataset can be accessed at https://***/10.57760/sciencedb.j00001.00784.

The first wall of the fusion Water Cooled Ceramic Breeder blanket is a multi-channel parallel square channel. Due to the small size of the flow channels, it may be easy to initiate block accidents. In this paper, the commercial computational fluid dynamics software ANSYS FLUENT was used to conduct numerical simulation and research discussion on different blockage aspects such as blockage materials, thickness, shares, and blockage shapes in the middle of a single square channel. By simulating three different blockages shapes in the flow channel, the results show a great influence on the flow field downstream, and the flow resistance is changed, which provides some reference for the following flow distribution problems. Through comparison, it is found that the wall temperature at the blockage's positions is inversely proportional to the thermal conductivity of the material and directly proportional to the thickness. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
