Aging of pollutants determines bioavailability and toxicity thresholds of environmental pollutants in soil. However, the ecotoxicity of chromium(Cr) rarely considers the effect of aging as well as soil properties. In order to explore the aging characteristics and establish their quantitative relationship with different soil properties, this study selected 7 soils with different properties through exogenous addition of Cr and determined its toxicity on barley root elongation. From 14d to 540d, EC10 and EC50 of barley root elongation ranged from 21.40 to 312.52 (***(-1)) and 50.15 to 883.88 (***(-1)) respectively. The hormesis appeared in the dose-response curve of acid soil as relative barley root elongation reached >110 % compared with the control. Extended aging time of Cr from 14d to 540d was associated with the attenuation of the toxicity of Cr, as the aging factor increased from 1.26 to 6.09 for EC50, from 0.88 to 4.98 for EC10. The prediction model of AFEC(50) and soil properties is lg (AF(360d)) = 0.306lg Clay+0.026lg CEC + 0.240 (R-2 = 0.872, P < 0.01). The results demonstrated that with the extension of aging time, the toxicity of Cr decreased at 360d and reached a slow reaction stage, after that soil OC, Clay and CEC could well explain the aging procedure of Cr (VI). These results are beneficial for risk assessment of Cr contaminated soils and establishment of a soil environmental quality criteria for Cr.

In this work, a series of LYSO:0.03 at.% Ce,xat.%In (x = 0, 0.001, 0.005 and 0.01) crystals were successfully grown for the first time by the optical floating zone (FZ) method. The effect of In3+ co-doping on photoluminescence and scintillation properties of LYSO:Ce scintillation single crystal was investigated. It was found that at x = 0.001, the overall scintillation performance was optimized. This was attributed to the fact that In3+ co-doping reduces the concentration of Ce2 emission center and accelerates the photoluminescence decay time of Ce3+. The temperature dependence of photoluminescence of LYSO:Ce,xat.%In samples was also investigated. Combined with density functional theory calculation, the phenomenon of In3+ co-doping leading to a decrease in quenching temperature of decay time was explained in terms of both crossover relaxation and introduction of impurity energy levels.

This article proposes a layered blockchain architecture based on partitioned IoT to reduce the scalability requirements of the Internet of Things for blockchain. In addition, in response to the problem of low performance of traditional Byzantine fault-tolerant consensus algorithms such as PBFT in IoT scenarios, a parallel block verification Byzantine consensus algorithm (PVBFT) is proposed based on a layered blockchain architecture based on partitioned IoT. This algorithm improves the VRF lottery algorithm to select consensus nodes quickly, replaces single chain storage structure with DAG structure, introduces coordination nodes, and fully utilizes the high concurrency of DAG. We have implemented multi-node collision-free block packaging and multi-block parallel verification, using aggregation signature to reduce communication costs during the Byzantine consensus process and effectively improve the throughput of the consensus algorithm. The experimental results show that compared with the PBFT consensus algorithm, PVBFT has lower communication overhead and higher performance.

Electrolytic water splitting offers a prodigious amount of hydrogen and oxygen production, which could satisfy the demand for clean energy for building the community of human destiny. Thus, as the key technology barrier, the development of a low-cost and high-performance bifunctional transition metal electrocatalyst toward water splitting is still a challenge. In this work, aiming to enhance electrocatalytic performance, the nickel molybdenum nitride heterostructure nanowire arrays were synthesized on nickel foam (Ni3N-Mo2N/NF) via hydrothermal strategy followed by a direct nitridation, from which the heterostructure nanowire was achieved. The self-supporting Ni3N-Mo2N/NF electrodes exhibits very low over potentials of 66 and 252 mV at 10 mA cm(-2) for the hydrogen evolution reaction and oxygen evolution reaction, respectively. When the cathode and anode were both Ni3N-Mo2N/NF, a current density of 10 mA cm(-2) was achieved with only 1.55 V. This work provides a new idea for the design and preparation of non-precious metal-based transition metal nitride catalysts. (C) 2022 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
