The exact solutions for the Riemann problem concerning the one-dimensional triple-pressure Euler equations with the Coulomb-type frictional term are displayed in perfectly explicit forms, where both the rarefaction and shock waves are presented in parabolic shapes with equal curvature under the action of the Coulomb-type frictional term. Specifically, the curved delta shock wave is formed by sending the limit of Riemann solution comprised of double shock waves, and the vacuum state is also grown up by taking the limit of Riemann solution comprised of double rarefaction waves when all the three perturbation parameters are dropped to zero, where the remarkable concentration and cavitation phenomena can be closely observed and explored. Besides, the numerical simulations in correspondence are also offered to validate our results.

Social robots are designed to communicate and interact with humans in a socio-emotional capacity, including the expression of emotions. Among the various ways that can be employed by robots to convey emotion information, the current study investigates color as a useful tool for emotion expression in social robots. Color is a flexible, inexpensive, and practical channel to convey emotional meaning in social robots, likely due to a robust network of color-emotion associations existing in human cognition. The current study tests how perceptions of the emotions happiness, sadness, and anger are influenced by social robots displaying a range of colored lights. The results show that color can meaningfully influence the perceptions of these robot emotions. Further, these results show that independent color dimensions (i.e., lightness, chroma, hue) impact emotion evaluation to differing extents, depending on the particular emotion. Additionally, we tested the influence of color on emotion perception for robots that varied in their anthropomorphic appearance, finding some nuanced differences in how their appearance modified their emotion expressions. We discuss the implications with respect to designing emotion-communicative social robots, dimensional approaches to understanding color-emotion associations more broadly, and the role of context in color meaning. The current work aims to facilitate the design of social robots and promote more meaningful human-robot social interactions.

In the era of big data, advanced data processing devices and smart sensors greatly benefit us in many areas. As for each individual user, data sharing can be an essential part of the process of data collection and transmission. However, the issue of constant attacks on data privacy arouses huge concerns among the public. This work proposes a personalized federated learning method associated with correlated differential privacy for autonomous driving. First, instead of transmitting raw data to the server following collection, a device that employs federated learning can perform calculations to obtain the training model at each node. Second, we specifically perform a correlated classification analysis to encrypt data that share high relevance, which can minimize the system cost. Then, correlated differential privacy is utilized to achieve the preservation of data privacy before sharing. In contrast to the traditional differential privacy, the proposed solution guarantees enhanced privacy to meet the demands of customization. The experimental results show that our scheme is more refined in terms of user heterogeneity and the utility of data than others without violating privacy.

The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), serving as an aerial platform, is capable of assisting IoT devices in providing global emergency coverage. To incentivize the macro base station (MBS) operator to lease idle spectrum resources to the UAV operator, an appropriate cross-layer spectrum trading mechanism needs to be established. To address the time-variation and asymmetry of information in spectrum trading, this article adopts multiterm contract theory to analyze this issue. We formulate the problem of designing multiterm optimal trading for these three scenarios: 1) 1-D static transactions;2) multidimensional static transactions;and 3) dynamic transactions. We employed deviations instead of derivatives to decompose the original problem into several subproblems. Based on the numerical results, we conclude that multiterm transactions cannot be simply decomposed into repeated single-term transactions. The optimal contract design should fully consider the composition of private information in multiterm transactions, as well as obtaining discounts from future revenue commitments.

Bemisia tabaci is an agricultural pest with great impact, widely distributed in more than 90 countries and regions. In order to slow down the spread of Bemisia tabacti, Neoseiulus barkeri is selected as a natural enemy, and a generalized Holling-III functional response pest-natural enemy model with additional food supply for Neoseiulus barkeri is proposed. The dynamical behavior of the model is investigated, including the existence and boundedness of the solution and the existence and stability of the equilibrium points. In order to effectively control the spread of Bemisia tabacti, in addition to relying on the inhibition of natural enemies, human control is also necessary. In this paper, two pest management models with threshold control are developed: the Filippov control model and the state feedback control model. For the Filippov control model, sliding mode dynamics together with the existence of pseudo-equilibrium are studied. For the state feedback control model, the existence of periodic solutions are discussed by constructing a Poincar & eacute;map, and their stability are verified by Analogy of Poincar & eacute;criterion. Finally, numerical simulations in MATLAB are carried out to illustrate the main results presented in the work. This study provides some reference for the integrated control of Bemisia tabaci.

As collaboration prevails in academia, the convention of overemphasizing the first author while neglecting other contributors has become problematic, leading to the emergence of co-first authorship. In this study, we identified papers with co-first authors (CFAs) using author contribution declarations from 96,264 papers in PLOS journals published between 2018 and 2022, then conducted a quantitative analysis to examine the role of co-first authorship in collaborative research via informetric methods. The results showed that (1) though CFAs usually claim to have equal contributions, those listed ahead typically contribute more, e.g. our calculations show that the contribution index of the first CFA is 2.55 times greater than that of the second CFA;(2) authors declared as CFA in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th positions typically contribute more than those in the same positions who were not declared as CFA;(3) co-first authorship is associated with increased collaboration, as evidenced by a higher average number of authors per publication (7.41 for CFA papers compared to 6.36 for non-CFA papers), and a greater intensity of contributions and collaboration among leading authors. Our study lays the groundwork for further exploration of co-first authorship and its effects on collaboration, while providing valuable insights for research administrators to enhance evaluation practices and foster scientific collaboration.

An athlete has faith in her unathletic partner to run a marathon, a teacher has faith in her currently poor-performing students to improve in the future, and your friend has faith in you to succeed in the difficult project that you have been pursuing, even, and especially, when your chance of failing is non-trivial. This paper develops and defends a relational view of interpersonal faith by considering four interesting phenomena: first, in virtue of placing faith in someone, we stand in solidarity with that person;second, interpersonal faith is called for during moments of difficulty, but it can seem inappropriate during moments of ease;third, one's faith in others can feel unwelcomed, and can be rejected;and fourth, when interpersonal faith is frustrated, disappointment, rather than resentment, is warranted. I propose that when the faithor (e.g., your friend) places faith in the faithee (e.g., you) to phi, the faithor does something close to inviting the faithee to (re)commit to phi-ing. This invitation-like move, once properly taken up by the faithee, puts both sides of the faith in a new kind of normative relationship that is in the same broad family as a promissory relationship, albeit with a different normative profile.

SARS-CoV-1 and MERS-CoV were the infective agents of the 2002 and 2012 coronavirus outbreaks, respectively. Here, we report a comparative liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) Orbitrap N- and O-glycosylation glycoproteomics study of the recombinant S1 spike derived from these two viruses. The former was produced in HEK293 cells and the latter in both HEK293 and insect cells. Both proteins were highly glycosylated, with SARS-CoV-1 S1 having 13 and MERS-CoV S1 having 12 N-glycosites. Nearly all were occupied at 85% or more. Between 2 and 113 unique N-glycan compositions were detected at each N-glycosite across the three proteins. Complex N-glycans dominated in HEK293 cell-derived spike S1 proteins. While glycosylation differs between HEK293 and insect cells, the extent of glycan processing at glycosites was similar for the two MERS-CoV S1 forms. The HEK293-derived SARS-CoV-1 S1 N-glycans were more highly sialylated and fucosylated compared to MERS S1, while the latter had more high-mannose glycosides, particularly in the N-terminus and near the RBD. Seven and 8 O-glycosites were identified in SARS-CoV-1 S1 and MERS-CoV S1, respectively. Mapping of predicted antigenic and glycosylation sites reveals colocalization consistent with a role for glycosylation in immune system avoidance. Glycosylation patterns of these S1 proteins differ from those of other SARS-CoV-1 and MERS-CoV spike reported forms such as recombinant trimeric and virus-propagated forms, which has implications for virus research, including vaccine development, as glycosylation plays a role in spike function and epitope structure.

Objective: To investigate the effectiveness and safety of combining zoledronic acid with calcium supplements and calcitriol in treating primary osteoporosis in elderly patients. Methods: Seventy-eight elderly patients with primary osteoporosis were recruited. They were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to either the CC group (calcium carbonate D3 tablets + calcitriol soft capsules) or the CCZ group (calcium carbonate D3 tablets + calcitriol soft capsules + zoledronic acid injection). The treatment duration was 1 year. Bone mineral density (BMD), bone metabolism markers, quality of life (QoL), clinical efficacy, and incidence of adverse reactions (ARs) were assessed. Results: CCZ group showed increased BMD in the lumbar spine (L1 similar to L4 segments), femoral neck, and hip after treatment relative to CC group. Serum levels of bone-specific alkaline phosphatase, cross-linked type 1 collagen C-terminal peptide, and N-terminal propeptide of type 1 procollagen decreased, while osteocalcin levels increased. The QoL Questionnaire of the European Foundation for Osteoporosis scores decreased (P < 0.05 for all comparisons). The clinical effective rates were 76.93% in the CC group and 92.31% in the CCZ group, with AR rates of 23.08% and 12.82%, respectively (P < 0.05 for both). Conclusion: Zoledronic acid treatment in elderly patients with primary osteoporosis demonstrates significant efficacy by increasing bone density, improving bone metabolism, enhancing QoL, and exhibiting high safety.

Palladium(Pd)-based catalysts have been broadly applied in modern industry. The ideal ones should be robust enough against leaching, load Pd to the maximum degree, and possess outstanding dispersity against aggregation. As for SiO2-supported Pd catalysts, aminosilane coupling reagents have been commonly utilized to introduce interfacial self-assembled layers which can chemically bond SiO2 substrates with siloxy (-SiOH) groups and firmly link Pd with amino groups. However, up to now, the influences of variable aminoalkyl chains on physicochemical properties and catalytic performances of palladium ions (Pd(II)) supported by dendritic mesoporous silica nanospheres (DMSNs) have not been contrasted and revealed. In this work, three types of aminosilane-functionalized DMSNs-based Pd(II) catalysts have been prepared, including DMSNs-1N-Pd(II) within mono-amino group, DMSNs-2N-Pd(II) with di-amino, and DMSNs-3N-Pd(II) with tri-amino ones. For the first time, the effects of mono-, di- and tri-aminosilanes on their basic properties have been thoroughly exploited, including the morphologies, architectures, compositions of crystal phases, surface functional groups, loading contents of Pd, Pd(II) and Pd(0) percentages, etc. Moreover, catalytical performances have been evaluated by Pd-catalyzed Heck reaction as well.
