Nowadays, the data compression technique is fully developed and widely used in many fields, such as communication, multi-media, image processing, and so on. In large physics experiments, especially the ones with micropattern gas detectors (MPGDs), there are always large numbers of readout channels and many data to be transferred. However, the data compression technique is seldom applied in this field. In this paper, a real-time lossless data compression method, which can reduce the data transmission bandwidth while keeping all information of data is proposed and successfully implemented in a general-purpose MPGD readout system. The compression method discussed in this paper mainly consists of two steps: The first step is to preprocess the data according to the signal characteristics and the second step is to compress the preprocessed data using a common lossless compression algorithm. In addition, the whole compression method is implemented in the field-programmable gate array (FPGA) and can run in real time. The compression method is validated with two different signals and the compression ratios reach 43% and 30%, respectively.

BackgroundCollaborative reading can facilitate students' understanding of complex learning materials. High-quality annotations provided by peer learners are essential for successful collaborative reading. However, it remains to be understood how annotation quality affects reading *** simulated collaborative reading environment was constructed for interactive highlighting and commenting. The environment was used to conduct a laboratory experiment and examine the benefits of reading annotations by ***-seven college students participated in the study and were randomly assigned to two conditions. The constructive annotation group was provided with annotations containing information that pertained to the constructive level of cognitive processing, while the active annotation group was supplied with annotations containing information that pertained to the active level of cognitive processing. Pre- and post-tests were used to measure learning gains. System log files and eye-tracking data were analysed to compare and contrast the differences in underlying *** and ConclusionsThe results showed that constructive and active annotations incurred different reading patterns, with the constructive annotations attracting more attention than the active annotations. The results implied that instructors could use seed annotations of a constructive level in reading assignments to facilitate reading comprehension.

We establish a stochastic delay predator-prey model with fear effect and prey diffusion, and investigate the dynamic behavior of the model. Initially, we use It & ocirc;'s formula to prove the existence and uniqueness of a global positive solution and the stochastic ultimate boundedness of the system. Subsequently, we provide sufficient conditions for the extinction and persistence of prey and predator, and discuss three possible scenarios. Beside, we construct a suitable Lyapunov function and obtain the conditions for the existence of an ergodic stationary distribution. Finally, we present some numerical simulations to verify the analytical results. (c) 2024 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
