Fair resource allocation in OFDMA networks is studied in this paper. We propose a distributed algorithm requiring minimum inter-cell information that embodies the principle of balancing advantaged and disadvantaged user traffic flows. A simple interference deterministic channel model assuming zero queuing delay is used. We propose a hybrid power and bandwidth allocation algorithm. A two-dimensional simulation conducted on both uniform and random-sized-cells shows the benefits are significant when fair allocations are desired.

In order to improve the bandwidth utilization of IP over WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) optical Internet, a static traffic grooming scheme was proposed by introducing the knowledge of fuzzy mathematics and microeconomics. It introduced the user traffic request delay satisfaction degree and the network relative cost. With the help of gaming analysis and layered graph, based on predatory search algorithm (PSA), it tried to find the optimal grooming solution with the comprehensive user QoS (Quality of Service) satisfaction degree maximized and the network relative cost minimized. It was simulated over actual network topologies and its performance was compared with certain existing traffic grooming scheme. Simulation results have shown that it is both feasible and effective with better performance.

Taken into account the effect of pile partially separated from soils, the dynamic stiffness and damping of pile in horizontal vibration is caculated by using the theory of computation about the mixed boundary value problem of circular holes radiation stress at an infinite plane and the theory of elastic waves, and the Fourier expansion method. The calculated results based on this paper are compared with the calculated results of the other literature. It is showed that the calculated results considering the influence of pile-soil separation are less than that of the other literature, which the bonding of the pile to the soil was assumed, and are in good agreement with experiments.

In Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET), Carrier Sense Multiple Access (CSMA) mechanism adopted in IEEE 802.11p/WAVE has some drawbacks in latency and delivery ratio when disseminating safety messages periodically. In this paper, a novel context-aware MAC protocol in VANET based on Bayesian Networks (BN) is proposed to improve network performance of high load. BN is introduced to process incomplete, inaccurate and uncertain context information in view of the high dynamic of VANET and vagueness of acquiring context information system. The Contention Window (CW) is adaptively adjusted based on the network communication status inferred from BN. Simulation results demonstrate that compared to IEEE 802.11p/WAVE algorithm, the novel algorithm offers a better delivery ratio and medium access delay.

Herbal injection is one of the most important preparations of traditional Chinese medicine. More than 130 types of herbal injections are used clinically for 400 million patients annually with total sales of over four billion US dollars per year. However, the current quality control (QC) methods relying mainly on chemical fingerprints (CF) can hardly ensure quality and safety of the herbal injections with complex chemical composition and have resulted in an increase in serious adverse drug reactions. In this study, a comprehensive approach for the QC of a controversial herbal injection Shuang-Huang-Lian lyophilized powder (SHL) was established based on the quality fluctuation detection by a combination of CF and biological fingerprint (BF). High-performance liquid chromatography and the impedance-based xCELLigence system were applied to establish the CF and BF, respectively. In addition, multivariate analysis was performed to evaluate the discriminant ability of the two methods. The results showed that being subjected to environmental influence like oxygen/air, high temperature, and extreme illumination could lead to quality fluctuation of SHL. The combination of chemical and biological fingerprint method is a more powerful tool for the QC of SHL because it can clearly discriminate different groups of abnormal samples. This method can be used for the detection of quality fluctuation of SHL and can provide reference for the quality control of other herbal injections.
